This is also my interpretation. That if you want to be warrior or rogue, it's a simple choice of two toggles: race and class. But if you want to be a mage, there's an additional dimension, like Circle mage, apostate mage, Dalish mage, I dunno, something like that.Elfman wrote...

What does that even mean? From what I can work out it sounds like a mage character would be more than your average circle or apostate mage, especially considering Mark Darrah hinted a while back that we might even be directly involved in how the veil got torn open in the first place (presumably either through choice, or unwittingly).
From what I gathered, it just meant that the mage class might have a different background to the warriors and rogues because the context of the Mage-Templar War puts greater emphasis on being a mage. Not that we ourselves would have played any more of a part to play in the Veil opening if we had played as a warrior or rogue. Sort of undermines those classes.

I thought picking between circle mage and apostate mage in the background options would likely be a given anyway, since the "background options" will be done pretty much the same way as they did for Shepard in ME1 where you'd pick where/how you were born, what planet, your childhood, etc.

There was? Damn!
Now I think we REALLY need a 4 warriors, 3 rogues, 2 mages split in the companions if we want Cullen!

"The mage class will all have the same background "blurb" (in character creator) but they will diverge fairly drastically to an extent that is still under investigation."

Speaking of which, does anyone have the post/tweet/whatever where Mark Darrah (or whoever) spoke about the Inquisitor possibly being directly involved with the veil tear?

Oh gawd, I'm gonna have to watch through all of them all over again, aren't it.

Honestly I thought they had a longer version of that clip, but haven't found it yet.
Doesn't matter too much, it just serves as evidence/proof of the topic I'm talking about so that I don't get people asking me to "prove" my findings.

Hmm, to me that does not auto-imply that he is an actual companion (unless there is more than that one quote I do not know about?). Perhaps he will be an NPC you get as temporary party member or someone who hangs around a lot at (one of) your base(s)?LolaLei wrote...

That's kinda what I was thinking, too. That explicitly mentioning that you can meet and spend time with, as opposed to spend ALL your time with, sounds to me like he's not a full time follower.Mahumia wrote...

It's more the tone they're speaking in, like heavily hinting/teasing at it. You'd have to give the podcast a listen to see what I mean.

Also, in perusing my DA:I stuff I had totally forgotten about this. It seems default!Inquisitor will be a rogue this go around.
Question to Matt Rhodes:
First of all I love all this concept art. As someone who does a lot of speculating this stuff always gets me excited. So I've been wondering something about the Inquisitor. Is it just me or is the Inquisitor portrayed as a rogue a lot?
Matt Rhodes:
Thanks! You’re right, there’s an abundance of rogues and that’s not an accident. There are two reasons. The first is that the iconic Warden was a warrior and the Iconic Hawke was a mage, so we wanted to try pushing rogues this time. In fact we built the rogue version first. The second is simple, shameless favoritism. I always role rogue. Always. It’s my class. Unless there is a specific reason to do otherwise, I’ll make the Inquisitor a rogue every time.
Hey! That was mine

Hey! That was mine. I think he took it down though. I was looking for it and couldn't find it. This quote is what definitely pushed me into Rogue this time around. I have a question for you guys though. Do you think you will be leaving Crestwood to the Red Temps, saving it or trying to save both. Personally I'm gonna send my soldiers to the village while I go after the Keep.
I'm gonna try and save both, but if I can't then I'll be saving the village over the Keep.
