You have a cold? I do too.

*raises hand* So do I.  Misery loves company? :(=]

Apparently so. This is why I really don't like winter. I always get sick. :c

I wonder how far that whole 'siding with' will have influence.... I mean, there are plenty of reasons for siding with one side, and it does not have to mean that you actually agree with them... For example: I have a Hawke who sides with the mages and is totally anti-templar, another who is middle ground, but thinks the templars are really going too far. A third sides with the templars, because she thought she could save for mages by 'joining the enemy' and stopping them before they could get too far (the keep your friends close, and your enemy closer approach).

I've wondered that too. My Hawke ultimately sided with mages because she didn't think killing the whole Circle was right, but she didn't think the templars were totally wrong that corruption in that Circle ran pretty deep, and she didn't think that leaving the more dangerous mages without any oversight was a good idea. I hope the choice of side isn't interpreted by the new game as implying zealotry for that side - although I would assume not, since there was no middle ground option and the devs surely realize that. I second-guessed my choice a lot.

I'm also just prone to second-guessing, though. ;) For example, the random quest that threw me for a complete loop? The one in Origins where you have to decide whether to deliver the lyrium potions for the Mages' Collective or report their activities to the templars. I had a terrible time deciding about that one, even though it's an extremely minor sidequest. Was I contributing to forced lyrium addiction by delivering them? Would I be putting some templars through painful withdrawal if I didn't? I ultimately decided that the lyrium was going to come from somewhere and I didn't want anyone to have to deal with the effects of lyrium depravation, so I might as well foster some goodwill with the mages at the same time and deliver them - but I agnonized way too much about it.

Hope all of you who are sick feel better soon!

I have two canon Hawke's, a diplomatic and thoughtful pro-mage (loves his sister) Hawke, and a wary of mages, pro-templar Hawke (both rogues). Now you would think the second Hawke would have killed Anders and sided with the mages, but when it came time to do so, I just couldn't push the button. Eirik Hawke was very pro-Circle, was relieved when his sister finally went to the Circle, distrusted Feynriel, etc. etc. etc. But even after Anders did what he did, (and he and Anders were not friend), he could not murder the man in cold blood, not with Anders sitting there with his head down, rocking on that stoop. And when it came time to protect the mages or slaughter them, he couldn't agree to the wholesale slaughter of innocents. He just couldn't.

It will suck if Eirik Hawke is imported over (or via the Keep) as a "pro-mage" Hawke when that couldn't be further from the truth. I just hate that final decision so much. You have to play a monster to be ultimately pro-templar (or head canon that s/he was intending to undermine Meredith, etc.). It is frustrating.

And thanks Hannah :) Is that your real name or should we call you TreeHugger? lol

I love to hate the final decision. It's a horrible moral quandary with no good answer, but I enjoy those in my games. :P

My Hawke struggled terribly with what to do with Anders. Ultimately she knifed him, but she felt really bad about killing a companion, even one she didn't get along with all that well. It was less based on what he did than his reaction afterward. If he'd come to her and said, "Hawke, this thing inside me got out of control and I hurt a bunch of people and now I don't know what to do, please help me!" she would have moved heaven and earth to do that. The reason she killed him was that he didn't see anything wrong in what he'd done, so she had no way to make sure he wouldn't do it again, and she didn't have any ability at that time to, say, remove him from the situation and keep him under control till she was sure he was safe. He'd lost so much of himself to Vengeance that there didn't seem to be any going back. So as I said, she killed him but felt awful about it - in my headcanon, she quietly said "I'm sorry!" as she stabbed him.

I just hope that Inquisition doesn't mess with my Hawke's character too badly when it comes to what I chose, because I liked her the way she was. She had to make choices but she didn't feel too good about a lot of them.

And haha, yes, Hannah is my real first name and you can call me that. :)

I'm a little worried it will be a bit binary when we import that choice, not that it could be anything but that, but I don't know how much intent we'll be able to get across, unless they somehow work that in which would be AWESOME. Anyway my Hawke was a bit pro-mage at the beginning but after his mother died he started to see at least a little bit the need for Templars, not necessarily circles, tranquility or anything, but the need for demon/abomination/blood mage hunters. Which was really funny considering my Hawke was a Blood Mage.

@Hannah: I had that problem to with those quests. I wanted to help the mages, but I didn't want to contribute that one Templar's addiction, it just sort of hit all the wrong spots for me, but in the end I chose the mages, I don't really remember why. I think that in regards to our intentions during DA2 it's gonna be less what we though and more on how the world perceives we thought, which I think is kinda cool and sad at the same time.

The Anders stabbing was so lame :crying: I have only done it once, as my Hawke was feeling so sorry for him that she wanted to put him out of his missery (rival Anders seems to be strugling more against Justice and gets more depressed it seems). But seriously, just lamely backstab him? I totally retconned it for myself that she at least gave him a big hug, discussed it with him and in the end quickly killed him with a stab in the heart whilst facing him... He was your companion for ten years, not some random guy!

The rest of my Hawkes let him life, for various reasons. Personally I am quite fond of the character. Would not touch him with a ten feet pole irl, but as a character he is very interesting and wellwritten, in my opinion =]

And pondering over various small sidequests sounds quite familiar! There are so many shades of grey that I think it is often hard to make a decision.

My first playthrough, I was so angry with The Anders Incident that knifing him once was a let down for me. In my mind there was repeated, Hulk out stab action with lots of obscenities hurled. I tried so hard to be uber diplomat and he just ruined everything I'd worked for. RUINED! *stomps feet like a 2 yr old*

And I loved it because it was actually one of the only points in the game that elicited feels for me.

Am I a terrible person for wanting a melodramatic weird arse scene where you kiss him with tears in your eyes and stab him mid-kiss?

That sounds like the final scene of some indie movie I rented perhaps on a whim... then immediately wished I hadn't and proceeded to spend the rest of the week in a funk.

Well, my Hawke romanced Fenris, not Anders, so not precisely that, but... yes, that does sound appropriate. My Hawke definitely had tears in her eyes even if there would have been no kissing.

I still get oddly emotional thinking about murderknifing him. I'm playing Awakening now and seeing him so happy and fun is kind of painful.

You people are heartless lol I can't believe I'm such a softie in comparison! I tried to write this hard Hawke and failed utterly.

Well, he was frequently hard *wink wink, nod nod at Fenris*, but not like that.

Haha, no, far from heartless! If only! Caring makes it excruciating. I'm pretty sure poor Fenris had my Hawke crying on his shoulder for hours after the battle.

True, and also amusing because comments like that would make Cullen himself blush and stammer. ;)

So definitely no body choices. *kicks dirt* Well I knew we wouldn't get that. Here's hoping the human males aren't all macho body builders again though lol

I wonder what "other things" could be. Could he be referring to background? Or maybe just stuff like horns for qunari, dirt marks (a la Skyrim), tattoos, scars, beauty marks, etc.

Nope, I would have thought something like that quite apropriate for a romanced Anders.

Dawwwww puppy!!!

I'm thinking the other things are stuff like specializations and maybe minor background choices, not complex ones but some that make these stories a little more varied.

Bwahahaha! Dat leaf!

Speaking of both Cullen and Alistair, I dreamt I met both their VOs last night... then they got into a hot tub together and took selfies. =]

LOL Mahumia, love that one. I was gonna whip up a new one, but didn't have time. Instead I offer charlottecorday's BW-endorsed one from last year.

Happy Thanksgiving, American Cullen fans!
