Regarding the CC... I assume that the 'other things' are just going to be things like stats and abilities too, not something important.

Sounds like an economical mistake on BW's part, actually. I'd never feel the need for anything else in Thedas once I've seen Cullen say anaan esaam Qun. ^^

That's a little different. I think most of the party members in DAI are optional or dismissable--if not all. For other characters, or party members that aren't, it really depends on whether the story offers an alternate route around their death. Sometimes we'll endeavour to put that in, if we feel allowing for their death adds something worthwhile--but we don't feel it always is, particularly if the amount of work required to provide an alternate path in the story is enormous in comparison. Naturally, the mileage of a particular fan on that account is going to vary, especially when it comes to things they believe are worthy of summary execution.

What's interesting to me is that he says dismissible which reminds me of what we could do in DA:O with Oghren and some of the others.

Maybe we can send them off whenever?

I'm going to be working for most of it (residential care doesn't close for holidays) but I'm fairly sure I will be gifted some turkey and assorted leftovers, and I'm stupidly excited about it.

That is indeed interesting Danny! But as I am quite OCD with the 'gotta collect them all!' I am afraid it is not for me XD

Still, it is great that you at least have the option to dismiss or skip certain party members

I prefer the dismiss or skip option to the summarily kill option. It just seems more realistic to me - you can avoid hanging out with people you don't get along with, but you can't just murder everyone who disagrees with you without major consequences.

It's different, of course, if it comes at a plot climax and there's a specific reason (for example, Anders,) but I don't really feel the need to be able to murderknife all my party members, whether or not it's someone I like.

@Hannah: I'm going to a party, but it's a family thing so idk if I'm going to have fun.

@Mahumia: I've never actually killed a companion either lol I actually do my best to avoid killing them. Like with Anders and Sebastian part of the reason I didn't kill Anders was because I didn't have to kill Sebastian instead otherwise I might have sided with the Mages and killed Anders, but since Sebastian just ends up bitter/angry (and in my head canon like this) than I decided living Anders is better than dead Anders.

I don't kill party members either. I have killed only Anders one time, and that was only for the sake of putting him out of his misery... never been able to do it again... I do not get the whole 'let's murderknife everyone I don't like attitude' some people have, but meh... I just want to cuddle Anders big time!

Agree. It actually disturbs me a bit how often I hear from fans on BSN that they **DEMAND** the right to kill their followers willy nilly. harumphharumph Of course... that may partially be because it's very often directed at Cullen specifically.

@Danny: Great find! Thanks for sharing that little tidbit.  I've never had any interest in dismissing anyone altogether. I actually don't quite understand why that's better than just not taking them anywhere. :shrug: Seems like it would be nice to have the option of using them, just in case.

I've also never killed anyone. It always royally ticked me off how apologetic BW have been towards players who killed Zevran but got mad when he showed up in DA2. How about apologizing to those of us who actually kept him in the party, utilized him in battle, and forged a relationship with him? Only to have him ignore that in DA2 lol

Or people who are mad that Leliana came back to life. Like, really? Who cares. I wouldn't be too upset if Loghain returned, and I have no love for that guy. Big deal!
