You know with every new image I've been getting more and more confident Cullen will be a companion. I don't know why, but Elfy Mcsmugens being in makes me like 85% sure he is one. I've been pretty low lately like 40% (thanks to R2 when I was in the high teens she bumped me up). Idk he seems like a fair bet to me now more than ever :D

LOL Dunno what I did, or if I should apologize.

I'm still torn. I know Cullen will be in... but I'm still thinking Important NPC. And, Chill Elf, I'm on a rollercoaster. Love the War Room version. Nosferatu version, not as much. And, I can't help but think that that new screenshot is of the elf protagonist, not a follower, like how they showed the qunari protagonist as well. Time will tell.

Has anyone heard back about this Dragon Age Keep beta thing yet? They said they'd start sending out invites back late December, but I've not heard of anyone receiving anything.

I haven't heard anything specific, but I'm thinking with the latest screenshots and info reveals they may be getting ready to send them out. Since they didn't say exactly when in December they'd go out, my guess is between Christmas and New Year's Eve or immediately thereafter.

...and yes, with all you've done for the Dragon Age community I fully expect you to be in that first batch of invites.  :)

You know, it's funny; I did a double take when I saw a recent tumblr post on the Keep beta from dragonagestuff, wondering how I hadn't heard that it had started... But then I realized they were just posting the original Beta signup info for folks who hadn't seen it yet. I didn't remember that they'd said we'd hear in December, tho.

And, I also bet you'll get an invite, Lola. :D  I just hope you can share a wee bit of info with us riff raff without breaking whatever NDA they make you sign.

actually, it really reminds me more of DAO design except extremely and beautifully upgraded. As would be appropriate w/new toys and new times, and all that.

Okay, so if that other shot is not the Brecilian, and it does seem quite tropical, where is it? I highly doubt Par Vollen. That would be entirely too much to hope for. But Idk any other tropical-esque locales in DA.

It could be Brecilian just redone a bit....

Why haven't they shown us a female Inquisitor? All we have is the concept. In all the demo and screen shots it's a dude. A hot dude, but still.

Believe it or not I would actually like to get an idea of how she moves. How she'll look in a snappy hat at a jaunty angle.

I get a mix of both personally, the vibrancy of DA2 with the realism of Origins. Plus the, as you said, upgrade of Frostbite.

I'm not entirely sure it's tropical, but my guess would be the Dales, maybe the Arbor Wilds if it isn't the former. We still have a huge expanse of forest in southern Orlais. If it IS tropical it might be that forest north of the Anderfels, but they said we'd be in the south so I'm curious if that's changed?

If I remember right Lady Hawke only had like two screenshots before she appeared in an alternate showing of the demo. Everyone in the chatroom LOVED her swagger back then lol.

I wonder if they have different animations for how the companions walk? I can't remember if Cassandra and Vivienne had different walks?

iirc, Viv and Cass in the demo did seem to walk differently. ack, not sure, tho. i didn't pay much attention to Cass walk, but i remember Viv kinda having this long legged Stride. she didn't so much walk down the road as she rather pulled the road to her! that kinda vibe/walk. i don;t think Cass had that. if they have diff walk animations i'll be very surprised. that's that extra detail one doesn't usually expect.

i loved LadyHawke's swagger. Loved it. the run animation looked like it hurt, tho lol! but the walking was awesome.

actually one of the best female walk and run animations i've ever seen came from saint's row 3--female character. she had a very confident sexy stride. she walks like she owns the road. the running is very good, too.

gosh, i would love to go to Tevinter. I feel like I need to go to Tevinter, but somehow I don't think we are..:(

other than that i have no idea where that forest could be...the kocari wilds maybe?

Teehee, my sister went through the same phase and I totally am guilty of using it as a blackmail threat  She used to take hairspray and use it on two small chunks of hair to hang down on either side of her face. I called them her fangs

Nah, got lazy and distracted w/ SWTOR  I downloaded this program OBS to try and record it, but been waiting for my bf to explain how to use it lol. I got nothing to do today though, so I can work on it today and maybe be able to put it in the Dropbox thingy?

Edit: Just went through to watch it again in toolset, it's still so cool!

Hmm I actually found it pretty encouraging that Cassandra appeared to run and walk like a normal human being. Let's hope that courtesy extends to the female inquisitor! In DA2, the swagger was fine for Isabela, as it fit her character, but it wasn't fair for BW to assume all female Hawke's would walk like that. It's kind of an absurd walk (also might require serious bone reconstruction in order to bend one's hips like that...).

Sure, some players want their female main character to be a sex bomb, but not everyone! I don't think that should be the default lol

You would think with mo-cap technology, they could get a person's run and walk right. They do it well enough for male characters; why are females like a different species or something...?

Speaking of Heroes of DA... is it supposed to have sound? I just got a work iPad and I downloaded the game and went through the tutorial... but there's no sound.

Lol, yeah it has sound. Check in options, it's probably turned off.

Options in the game or the iPad? I checked both, and both seem to already have sound toggled on :(

unfortunately, irl, not everyone has a good walk. too many have poor posture; shuffle about; or walk like they're scared of...idk what. themsleves? or move like they're victims. that's real life. so mo capping that would not be cool.

with females i think it's harder for them to find the right mix. idk why, cuz like i said, amazingly, a game like saints row 3 can pull it off, but BW struggles with it. the fem char. in sr3 walks w/out excessive azz wiggling, if any really, yet does not walk like she's a man, or just got outta jail......even tho she did..ahem.

a lil utoob of sum sr3 footage to give an idea of the reasonable walk/run animations that i like.

www.youtube.com/watch

i don't think enjoying your sexuality necessarily means you wanna be a" sex bomb", tho. i think that's unfair.

i'm willing to compromise, tho. i can understand ppl that do not want the hip sway going to extremes. but i just i absolutely do not want a female character that walks about like a man. which BW has done in the past. that's why it concerns me.

i don't really remember seeing Cass moving abt normally. i just remember them all being abt to battle. scrunched over and what not. so it's hard to tell.

i just want my fem char. to walk like she's comfortable in her own skin; comfortable in the world; comfortable w/her femininity and sexuality. not like the warden shuffle in DAO, or femshep in ME2. i think they did improve on that in ME3.

but even w/DA2 and sr3, the in game walk/run were one thing, then they would switch to the male rig for every cutscene which looked weird and disjointed.
