Also, Legolas looked totally different. I know he's older 'n' stuff, but the contact lenses they used seemed wrong, and he had far too much of a hearty tan for an Elf that is mainly out of the sunlight, LOL!
I thought they did a great job of hiding his aging... not that the guy has shown his age much at all
What did you think of Tauriel? Of course, me being me, I had a lot to say about her.... [clicky]
I liked the idea of her, but I feel they missed the mark in a couple ways.
I fell a little bit more in love with Thorin in this one... <3

You know with every new image I've been getting more and more confident Cullen will be a companion. I don't know why, but Elfy Mcsmugens being in makes me like 85% sure he is one. I've been pretty low lately like 40% (thanks to R2 when I was in the high teens she bumped me up). Idk he seems like a fair bet to me now more than ever
I'm still torn. I know Cullen will be in... but I'm still thinking Important NPC. And, Chill Elf, I'm on a rollercoaster. Love the War Room version. Nosferatu version, not as much. And, I can't help but think that that new screenshot is of the elf protagonist, not a follower, like how they showed the qunari protagonist as well. Time will tell.
No you upped me, sorry was VERY VERY tired when I wrote my last post so maybe I wasn't clear. I was in the 13's before you released your updated proof for Cullen story which brought me to 40%.
He could be, it's just to me there is so much evidence that he's elfy, but who knows. If it is an elven Inquisitor he looks good imo. Just how I'd want them to look. (Face wise I mean).

Btw: soo, what about the "nice" spirits in the Fade? When the Veil tears is it only the naughty spirits that are gonna run amok? I mean, will the nice spirits stand back yelling, "Nooo, you're not supposed to do that. You're gonna get in trouble!"
Or, may they deign to help out? How would that work? Cuz naughty spirits aren't the only ones in the Fade.

I liked him with brown eyes, too. Supposedly he was always meant to be wearing the blue contacts, but throughout LOTR he would forget to put them in, and no one noticed, even after filming was done. Kind of like his black eyebrows and blond hair...
I thought they did a great job of hiding his aging... not that the guy has shown his age much at allAnd I didn't notice the tan. Grrr I'm due for a second viewing!! Need to expect some elven tan lines xD

Loved your article Moto. I do have a question as someone who has only ever read the Hobbit. I thought that "She-elf" was just something the bad guys said once to Arwen, then in an effort to connect Tauriel to Arwen's awesome riding scene and play off of the love for the character they had the orc call Tauriel that.
I did wonder, considering a lot of the review sites have kind of been like, "Meh it didn't need to be there." (the romance triangle) particularly. They do think the importance of the love triangle will come up in the next movie, but I agree with you and them it's totally unnecessary to have the love triangle.

Well I support the Dalish view that no Fade spirit is truly benevolent or can ever really act in the best interests of mortals because they just aren't. So if they do decide to pop out and enjoy the scenery, my Inquisitor, (if she really does have to be Dalish), will not be so keen to help the spirits if the choice presents itself.
I am interested in what will become of them however. They may be affected by the mortals and become demons themselves, or they may try to help in ways that aren't actually helpful. Like Justice/Vengeance, (even if I do believe there was no shift from Justice to Vengeance, just Anders lying to himself). A spirit of, I don't know Harmony?, might actually act in a way reminiscent of a Sloth demon to stop the fighting or spirt of Faith might inadvertently strengthen the resolve of a dangerous zealot.

Well, there's always Wynne's "protector" spirit. It is mentioned again in "Asunder" but that's all I'm going to say about that. Don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it yet.
And to keep the thread on course...

I think he's resting up 'cause he realizes that once it's known that he's both a party member AND romanceable, he ain't gonna get a wink of sleep. Ever.

I love the idea of "Benevolent" Spirits accidentally twisting their virtues. Spirits of Harmony trying to stop fighting so people end up dying of sheer apathy, Valour causing civilians to become blood knights, Hope causing foolish bravado or recklessness, Compassion causing misplaced trust amongst enemies and Faith leading to unfounded crusades.
And I agree, we need some Cullen news in this thread.

I gotta add something to this.
Spoilers!!!
I thought the love interest thing between Tauriel and Kili was interesting, BUT!! At the end of the book, Fili and Kili both die defending Thorin from orcs.... So how will Tauriel's influence in the story affect the end of the next movie? Kili almost died in this movie from the arrow, and Tauriel saved him. Will he not be defending Thorin in the big battle that is to come? Or will Peter Jackson stay true to the book and off Fili and Kili while they valiantly defend Thorin? Hmmmm.

To me, Vivienne sounds like a good moderate so I think it's safe to say I'll keep her unless she decides to attack me. But the rumours around Dorian/Elfy McSmugness don't look that good to me since the two obvious no nos are being a Magister and a Blood Mage, (usually one and the same).

My first thought was "oh no, please don't let her be like Tallis" (cos she had the ginger hair and green clothing), but I liked her! I'm hoping she does get with Kili, because he's ridiculously adorable. Legolas was a bit of a jerk in this one, which I know he's supposed to be since he isn't friendly with the Elves at that point.

What's new? I see TWD season 2 came out, we've got actual pimp hat screenshots and some neat new screenshots that may or may not be hinting at the inclusion of the excellent Cole... any Cullen hints, and did I miss anything else?
Did anything come of the talk of playing the DA PnP?

Cullen's voice actor made a tweet about being in the booth recording dialogue for a character from a classic game or something. Could be Cullen, or it could be someone else, like Alister from Tomb Raider. He did favourite a tweet from one of us regarding DAI, so it could be.
