I dunno if they'll let me make a video about the DA Keep Beta because they want us to sign an NDA. Presumably they'll give us more details about it nearer the time.

Congrats Chanda and Lola! I hope everyone else had a great Christmas.

And don't worry about the beta, I wouldn't be surprised if it was only Youtubers and particularly vocal fans that got invites in the first wave. In my experience with betas, regular people start getting invites in the later waves and in larger, later betas.

I expect we'll all get in when they release it to the masses, they tend to have open betas before they actually release it.

Yeah, eventually they'll want to stress test the capacity of the server, so more folks will probably make it in. In the meantime, kudos to those who've gotten an invite!! Merry Christmas, indeed! I'm just glad we actually know a few of the chosen so we'll get at least a limited view of what it's like (NDA, not withstanding). ^_^

And, Lola, you know, I'd imagine you could at least share some of your excitement about the Keep without revealing the details. TBH, I'll bet that's partially why you and the others were chosen... to spread the Good Word. ;) Heh, here's hoping it's 'good.' LOL

So far it seems to be YouTubers, cosplayers and people like that. I think some fans got them too though.

Yeah, so far it seems like folks who are on a, um, first name basis with the devs. But, hey, that also makes sense for a first selection round, and sort of what we expected. Just glad the invites are out. I was starting to wonder if the beta process was late once someone pointed out that BW said they'd notify in December.

And, now to find out if there's any sort of file import function at all!!  Yay!!!  Or at least, hopefully yay? I wonder if you'll be able to tell us that. Hmm.

Yeah, plus now would be a good time to start filming so that when the NDA goes down you can post the updates and awesomeness that is the Keep (if it is awesome). Can you imagine a Lola video made months in advance.....MIND BLOWN!!!! And by that I mean having time for you to perfect an already perfect format.

I think it makes sens that they gave the betas to youtubers and cosplayers because they are the ones who give them free publicity for their product, and hey for their hard work they put in the videos and costumes I would hope they give something back to them, they really deserve it :)

Im not too worry about it I'm sure we will all get the beta eventually in the later stages, so its not that big of a deal for me, I've waited this long, and can wait a couple of more months :)

I do however have a question for you Lola and I hope you will be able to answer this, when you got the email was it from Origin, EA, or something else?

But not if they have to sign an NDA. So ultimately this was just favoritism.

.... Bitter, party of one  Obviously I'm not mad at Lola or anyone. I think everyone who got an invite deserves it... but in a sense, they are lucky, too. They can make videos or costumes or do things others of us can't. So it is unfair, and it smarts, because, for example, everyone in this thread is a raging DA fan, but only one gets recognized because they know her. They're crazy if they don't think that's going to hurt a LOT of people.

Again, not mad at Lola (or the others) AT ALL; Kudos to you guys for getting invites!!!

EDIT: Just want to add, that once again I'm not impressed with their PR/marketing approach. I don't even have my degree in that, and I think I could do better lol

Directly from BioWare, must be the in-house team or something.

Personally, I'm fine with the lack of an invite for now. I finally got the World Of Thedas book for Christmas so I'm enjoying reading that. Plus I'm watching every episode of the Last Airbender. If I had an invite, I'd be too excited to do these things.

Lola, you b*tch!  Just kidding, that's awesome! I'm super happy for you, you and all the other YT guys/gals and cosplayers absolutely deserve it. :D Here's hoping they let you discuss it at least a little bit, as far as the mechanics and stuff like that. That's so exciting that it's at that testing stage though, I'll be for sure hounding my email like a fiend lol.

Calling it favoritism is a bit unfair. The cosplayers and YT people work really hard in their free time to pay tribute to a video game that inspires them. It makes sense, and is actually pretty cool, that the developers would recognize and reward them in a sense by shifting through all those applications to find them. I disagree that it's favoritism, or a way for them to market DAI. It seems to me that it's just Bioware being gracious to their passionate fanbase, and rewarding the ones that have made that extra effort to show their love of the game in other more recognizable outlets.

Once I get the second email where I have to sign all the bits and pieces I'll contact Aaryn Flynn and find out how long we'd have to keep quiet about it etc. I'm hoping that maybe there's an embargo like last time with the DAI demo.

I wondering if maybe they're planning on releasing a video about it themselves, and that's why we have to sign an NDA or something.

Well to us it may seem unfair, because we didnt get it,lol but as I said, I'm sure that we will all get it in later stages, we just have to be a lil more patient about it, that doesn't really make us lesser fans because we didnt get it.
I think they gave those betas to youtubers and such because they appreciate what they have done for them so far, personally I dont necesarily consider that favoritism, just a small jesture of appreciation for those who go the "extra mile" for the said company

Ty for the answer, thats pretty cool tho, I would have thought that the email would have been from origin or something cause i went back to the DAkeep site and i think they said that we might get an email form Origin or something like that

I watched a YT video, GamerMD I think, where she did an interview w/ one of the Bioware guys about what the Keep is all about that was pretty informative. It seems like they're really eager to share it w/ the fans, a video from them would be great!

I think they really need to market the Keep, it's replacing (for the most part) the ability to import our choices. One mistake, just one import bug and the sharks will come! Me included, because honestly I NEED this to work. I dunno I want all my choices (or at least the one's that come up) to actually reflect my choices. I don't mind retconning so to speak (or rather the choice not equaling what I thought as long as it's explained later on)

they will release to pretty much everyone I'm sure because, they might want to "stress-test" the network and such, which involves getting as many people as they possibly can to join in at once, to see if there are any issues or crashes or whatever so .. yea Im not to worry about it

I just think it's weird for them to need a beta. Unless they are literally trying to make sure every single combination of choices works properly or to see if they've missed something...

How about those who devote countless hours writing fanfic or doing fanart? If you are going to say this is based on merit, dont they deserve the same? But they will not get it.

I think Aimo got one, she does fanart. I'm not entirely sure who else got one though.

Sadly fanfic is a grey area since a lot of the writers and devs don't read it because the characters are their "babies" and they find it difficult to read something about said characters that they haven't done themselves, which I think is a huge shame because I've read some wonderful DA fanfic in my time.

Fortunately this is just the first wave of invites, so they'll be sending out plenty more in the coming weeks/months. I just hope they'll let me make a video about it because I don't like not being able to share this sort of thing.

Yeah, berelinde makes a good point. TBH I don't really think it's a merit based selection either. Like I said earlier, I'm sure it's just folks they "know" to begin with. And despite the NDA, these folks are already helping publicize the Keep to their followers. *shrug* Makes good marketing sense to me.

Anyhoo, while I'd love to be selected eventually, I don't think it's productive to jump into a Have vs. Have Not discussion, or to suggest that some folks "deserve" it more than others. It is like it is, and I think it's great that the Beta will start soon!

I dont think they will allow you guys to make videos considering you had to sign an NDA agreement, but  personally it doesnt really bother me, I can wait, its not like its a CC demor or anything its just a thing where u manage you saves
