Awesome!! Yeah I maxed out Zev pretty fast at first. Then I just kept going to bed with him for that one extra approval point, lol!

Actually... to be fair, I dunno that it applies to approval, however they're doing it this time around. This was related primarily to the investigate chats, so presumably approval will still gate some branches of these interactions along with other plot-related gates.

Huh, I ventured into the main forums for the first time in a while and stumbled across this gem. Nothing really new, but I've yet to see such a detailed description from the devs about follower interactions in DAI. DG describes the whole caboodle, comparing DAO vs DA2 approaches and how DAI melds the two. Sounds like the perfect middle road, allowing us to sit around, in safe areas, and chat *almost* to our heart's content while still gating some content til later in the game (saving some of us from ourselves. "Such as they are"?? Alistair, is that all you have to say to me?? *sob*).

I'm also pleased with the notion that, while the amount of follower content is about the same as in previous games, DG confirms that the banter, which apparently comes out of the level word budget not the follower budget, will indeed be bigger. Squee!!

I thought that was all common knowledge already? =]

Either way, this is exactly what I wanted to see from the companion interaction for DAI, we can chat the companions ears off in safe zones whilst not having to worry about triggering conversations accidentally at inappropriate times... like in the middle of a Broodmother's corpse.

Right, like I said, it's not new, but by far the most detailed explanation I've seen so far.

I guess that makes things crystal clear now that it's been simplified by the big man himself.

I wonder if our main can get addicted to the 'red lyrium'. For example, if you decide to take it because your a mage and it boosts your mana by 10 folds. I wonder if there will be side effects from doing so.

So I've been wondering something guys.

We know that the game is going to be semi-open world right? So how much empty space is there going to be during the game? In some games like Skyrim there are dozens of little quests that you can take part in, whether its something to do with Daedra, Assassin's Guilds, etc.

I just have to wonder whether we'll be traveling a bit more than playing and whether the story will be I dunno more spread out/thin? Don't know if I'm making myself clear.

Well, DA:O had lots of little quests and stuff that were easy to miss as well as the big main story and that didn't feel thin. I don't really see why more space would make things potentially feel spread thin.

Well, the difference to me would be that in Origins and especially DA2 the side quests were right there, most of the time they were on the way towards the main quest or you were kind of forced via paths to come across them and sometimes that didn't even help, considering how so many people missed Leliana.

What I mean though is that with the maps so large I'm afraid there is going to be a lot of downtime rather than a lack of content if that makes any sense?

So we'd get a quest, we'd start our travel and maybe pick up a few side quests along the way and then....horseback and more horseback and then more horseback. Don't get me wrong I expect the monotony to be broken up, but I'm just nervous that there might be a lot of traveling, maybe to find a quest to do or to get to our destination and I'm wondering what they're doing to counter that? It's the only things that really scare me about open world-ish games.

I do have to wonder just how big the new environments will be. They said Crestwood is the biggest area they've done, but in DAI it's probably one of the smaller maps, (unless I dreamed that last part). That required no time at all to get from what I assume is the start of the area to the keep which I'm just going to say is more or less the end of the map. They didn't need a horse and I don't think they skipped all that much considering they came out of the cave and the keep was pretty much there.

So I don't think there'll be too much monotony. I think once the Inquisition has developed in an area, they might allow fast travels to our keeps.

Danny, this is also my worry every time I hear the words "open world." While I know it's not truly open world, they're clearly trying to appeal to the Skyrim crew and all I hear from folks about skyrim is boring walking walking walking (unless riding with husband running behind ). The devs combat this concern by invoking ooooooh *Baldur's Gate* (dun dun dun *sparkles shimmer through the air*). But while Baldur's Gate was exploration based, honestly that was also a lot of boring walking sometimes to fill out all corners of the map.

Now, when I say worry... I'm not really worried. I think it's gonna be great, but I do wonder if I'll feel frustrated at the wide open expanses or that I'll upset my inner completionist by missing things due to the vastness. I start to expect that I may never finish a single playthrough because I'll always be reloading an old save to go back and pick up something I missed. I'm not a trial and error kind of girl.

You know this could be interesting. It reminds me of what they intended to do originally with lyrium, which was that if you got addicted then lyrium had diminishing returns over time. But you had to slam so many potions that everyone would get addicted, which wasn't feasible, so they ditched it for gameplay reasons. But... in principle red lyrium shouldn't be used so often, so it would be a cool risk to take. Like using blood magic.

Yeah the towns, cities and keeps don't scare me as much as the open deserts, forests and swamps do. Also yeah they said Crestwood was one of the smaller maps (if not the smallest). It's just those wide open expanses I'm worried about and like R2 said it's not really a worry. I'm going to love the game no matter what, but it's like a fear that people will hate all that travel and ruin my chance at a DA4 :P

I'm wondering though where do you guys think the main Inquisition stronghold is? Part of me thinks it's in the Frostbacks, that New Home concept art and another part says Val Royeaux or somewhere similar.

Funny experience at the doctors' office some of you might enjoy. There were three assistants there, all of whom were physically very similar. One of them walked into the waiting area and called for John. Three men stood up.

"It's like being in Anders's clinic," I remarked. A man two seats over started laughing.

I wonder if he favors Cullen for Inquisition...

I just have to say, I am super jealous of this! ;)

I'm a relatively new Dragon Age fan, but so far I've never run into anyone who shared the interest. I'd get stupidly excited if I cracked a DA joke and someone besides my friends laughed.

That would be very interesting if it could be pulled off! It does sound difficult to do, but interesting none-the-less. Hmm...I wonder if the game could have a counter when it came to how many lyrium potions the protagonist has taken in battle. Maybe taking two or three is admisible, but taking five to eight in several battles? The counter could trigger a cut-scene or two of your character getting the shakes or whatever. Perhaps a companion could voice concern, etc. etc.

Could be that Red Lyrium boost your mana like crazy, but could dimish your life points. And every time you use it, specially if the timing is close together, the more damage is does.

That would require me actually winning battles and gems so I could actually purchase them instead of being forced to grind previous levels for gold....

They drop from the Fourth Map challenge so you don't actually need gems.

:P I can't see your pic btw. Maybe you need to upload it to photobucket or something.

All I have is the final battle on map 4. That's the Tevinter one, right? That lady and her minions just kill me. And I've been diligently consuming, but still, I die. I have Aveline, Stroud, some revenant dude (gold), desire demon, and gate guardian.

Have you tried using a runes? And when you consume, are you comsuming at least a silver? Bronzes are just a waste of time really.

It's the Carta Map. It's called the Dust Town Challenge. It should actually come before the final battle there.

Yeah I figured out which map it is 8D I did beat that one, and I've been grinding it. So far I got two silver elf assassin girls and two bronze dwarf assassin dudes. I consumed them.

Yes I've used runes, and yes I only consume silver.

I just have been unlucky. I just got beat by an all-gold team that got 2x hits with EVERY turn. COME ON!!!!
