I had been living under the assumption that it was wildly out of date. But he merely says it's "a wee bit out of date."

And as to which, if any, of these are companions, he simply says, "many of them are not."

We know scribe girl (pictured) and Leliana (pictured) are not. Can we throw in mustache guy? Do three people qualify as "many"?

Maybe even throw in Elfy McSmuggins (much as it would break my heart not to have him as a companion, the adorably snarky bastard).

Leaving Cassandra, Varric, and Cullen.... 3 out of 7, or 4 out of 7, are not companions. I think that qualifies as "many." And I feel better about Cullen's chances for some reason.

Actually, this does the reverse for my hopes of Cullen. "Many are not". We know the precious Cass and Varric are companions. So, that leaves five. Leli and Scribe woman are not. That leaves three. One to two of those remaining got the axe..or were never companions at all.

You knooow, this is just irritating the hell outta me now.

I got templar recruit Carver. I guess I will hold on to him instead of consuming him. Might have need of an all night faction some day. I do want to assure you that this is a pure fighting game with NO story or anything remotely having to do with DA:I. It is just to pass the time. It's like having a deck of cards, really. Like playing Magic or something. "Ohh, my card beat your card; I win." lol 

Btw, has anyone faced Sandal in battle? S-Scary!!  I don't know what I was thinking. Beat me, even though the rest of the team was silver and gold.

And then, who are the male LI's? All we know is Varric is a companion--not likely romanceable. Maybe if you're a dwarf inquisitor, but hard to say (that would be pretty lame if not).

So, the guys know they have Cass and Viv--and I'm assuming they're both romanceable. But the women have Nothing. We don't even know who the male companions are besides Varric.

They shoulda come out w/Cass; A male companion; and Varric--the Bro companion. So, the women would know/have something.

Pffft I avoid all legendary heroes, ALL of them. I'm not strong enough yet. I just decided to try fighting the Sandal team because the rest of the team were silver and gold. Well, he didn't even really need the rest of the team. He could've taken me all by himself.

We don't know Cass and Viv are romanceable. I think possibly only one is. We saw the elf girl (possibly Sera) in one of the demo videos, and she seems a more likely female LI.

We don't know Varric isn't romanceable, do we? We've not seen anything at all to suggest he isn't. Bianca being alive could just mean there's some drama added to his romance arc.

I'm sure the chose Vivienne for a reason. They let us know early on that Cass and Varric were returning. (I don't necessarily like that Varric is returning, but he is, and I can understand letting us know early on that he and Cass are companions. They are familiar.)

But they needed a third companion so they could show the demo. Vivienne is an Orlesian Circle Mage, so that doesn't spoil anything but affirms that we will be in Orlais. I think she was a very strategic choice as a companion reveal.

I would say just Beardy Warden and Sera at this point because they were in the Game Informer demo.

And even then they could've just been place holders / teasers / footage from early but now disregarded version of the game.

I know, but what information to want more? A new companion reveal? Information on the backgrounds? The dialogue wheel changes? Voice actors? I WANT IT ALL!

I'd be very surprised if Viv is not a romance option. If Varric is an LI--tho Gaider doesn't seem to want dwarf romances (maybe unless it's a female dwarf? Idk. I just know he said it was something maybe they'd do in the furure. Tbh, I'd rather he not be romanceable unless I'm playing a fem dwarf. Otherwise, he'll take an LI slot.

I want to see sum guy companions already--a new one, Varric does not count.

I think all 3 will be LI's. They're all very diff personality types.

edit: they're gonna have a fem elf as a romance. No doubt. Cass--we pretty def sure will be LI. And yes, Viv cuz she's a mage.

edit.edit: I think something similar will be for the female inquisitors. Elf McSmuggins will prolly be an LI. He fills a dual role of the elf and mage romance option. Then prolly sum rogue and a warrior LI.

That's 6 ppl outta 9 companions. So, no they won't all still be romanceable. And those LI options May shift depending on what race you're playing.

As much as I want Vivienne to be romanceable, I really doubt she will be. Assuming we're following the standard DA set up of 2 romanceable companions of each gender, Cassandra and Sera just fit the bill much better unfortunately. Sera because she works as the elf/non-human romance and Cassandra because Gaider has written 2 of the LIs and I just don't see him writing 3 companions.

I also think it's 95% likely we will have 4 LI as usual, available to both genders. DG has said this is the preferred method and it will remain like this. He personally would prefer 6 LI (3 male, 3 female, one of each being straight, bi, and gay), but resources do not allow this thus far.

But never say never, so *shrug*

As for who is a romance, DG is on the record saying the characters who become romance options are written that way because it works best for their story... not to fill any kind of quota (must have one elf LI or one mage LI, etc.).

I can see DG writing 3 characters; why not? It's possible. So he's written 2 LI and we know he wrote Cass. If Cole is a companion, then we know he wrote Cass and Cole. But we know Cole won't be a LI (unless he purposefully trolled us). So that would mean he has written a third companion.

I think that with having 9 companions, we will have an extra LI in the mix. And I don't think it's a class quota as much as it should be a consideration for diff personalities.

Like in DA2, it was lame to only have Anders and Fenris to choose from. Seb would have been a great addition personaility wise. And Aveline shoulda been an LI for those not interested in a blood magic elf, or ...well, Isabela. Not abt class, but personality.

Usually in DA games, the majority of the followers are romanceable. I don't see them having 9 followers, and only 4 are LI's. I just don't see it.

Although, BW has surprised me before.

Well, he's the lead writer, so when he says there will be 4 bi LI this time, then there will be 4 bi LI lol 

We have an idea who is writing some of the other characters, like Sera and Iron Bull. So it's just a process of elimination to figure out who DG is writing aside from Cass.
