edit: that concerns me. I don't want another straight femshep ME3 romance scenario.

Yeah, pretty much  He said six was his preferred number (2 gay, 2 straight, 2 bi), but that resources would likely prevent that, so they would stick with 4 bi.

Yeah, pretty much  He said six was his preferred number (2 gay, 2 straight, 2 bi), but that resources would likely prevent that, so they would stick with 4 bi.

I'd prefer 6 all Bi. I think all LI options should be Bi. It's just easier and offers more options. It's just that I want 6 LI's. I didn't care for the sr8; bi; gay thing in ME3. All Bi, or gtfo.

Haha, same  I hate being limited... RL is limiting enough  I would also prefer six... heck I'd prefer nine  but apparently 4 is what we will get. 

I'm thinking less and less that Varric is romanceable. He is sort of our "bridge" character. I suspect he's been around before DA2 was being worked on. And maybe that's why he was given the "storyteller" role in DA2, and played off Cass (another character who probably existed before DA2).

Methinks Cass and Varric are perhaps not romanceable since they're these bridge characters. Also, I think Cass might be in her 40s.

But shouldn't Viv be at least 40 is she was next in line for Senior Enchanter?

Not that I wouldn't like (PREFER) older LI, but would they do that?

Anyway, I'm still stuck on the men. With these as our possible companions: Varric, Cole, Iron Bull, Cullen, Dorian/Elfy McSmuggins, Beardy Warden... and Varric and Cole likely not being LI. And many people saying IB may be an NPC and not a companion (since he's featured and named in Matt Rhodes' concept art)...

That leaves Cullen, Dorian, and Beardy.

What if Beardy is the type of character DG always wanted to write? An older Grey Warden. Wasn't Alistair originally going to be a grizzled GW veteran? And wasn't Alistair written by DG?

Yeah but Gaider changed him when he realised Alistair was no longer fun to be around or even write. So I think if they are similar, then Gaider could have used Alistair as his always-wanted-to-write. Plus, I have a personal inkling that Beardface may have been written by Sheryl. She's one of the big writers I think about when I think of Bioware and it seems odd to me there hasn't been much hinting at her companion and only concept art and the GI hints at Beardface,

Maybe!Cullen; Dorian aka "Elfy McSmuggins"--sounds like mobster nicknames lol!; and Beardy.

Well, Beardy may fill that paternal role, so quite possible no LI there. Sigh. Sooo, Elfy McSmuggins is probable. And sum human dude. Hopefully Cullen, but even then, man I wish they'd throw in another male LI choice.

Srsly. I mean hey, there's still time. And since even Gaider said that the romances were a "substantially tertiary" part of the game....then it shouldn't be too much work to add some moar! options. Right, BW? Right?

I could see Maybe!Cullen fulfilling that serious, yet adorkable warrior role. And McSmuggins in the roguishelfmage role.

IF Cullen is in and an LI, I do hope they keep him slightly adorkable.

That does make me wonder though, Cullen is probably in his mid thirties right? Or at least about Cass's age right? (She was confirmed not to be in her forties btw. Close but not there) So do you guys still want him to be kind of shy around women? Adorkable as raps put it

As for Cass's status as a LI I'm still a little on the fence. I mean the majority of me, like 98% thinks she is, but then in that confession where people wanted her to be something like Aveline's and DG was sort of happy about it/it made him smile or something. But that's just me needing confirmation, all the evidence in the world could lead to me making puppy eyes at what could have been lol

Oh, I wouldn't say adorkable is just abt being shy around women. I think it's more like...WarriorNerd. Plenty of grown men w/families that also have this inner nerd. They handle their business and all that, but it's a certain endearing part of their nature.

I like endearing. As well as handle your business. Sweet. Not perfect. Not all Smooth Suavecito like a Rogue. Not all Manly McManMan. Just sweet and endearing, and can also kick butt and has his own mind. Thus the "serious adorkable warrior".

Which I'm sure might make sum at BW do a happy dance. That is if they could withstand the quietly breaking hearts of hundreds of thousands of innocent fans.

You can be older and shy. I'm 33 and when I see a gorgeous guy I hide  Shyness and introversion are just personality traits. Now do I want him to be inexperienced, no. Because I think that just defies reason. You can't have reached this age and never have, ahem, dabbled at least. I'm not saying he had to visit the brothel ten times a day. But even shy people manage to get laid EVENTUALLY.

There aren't many things in Thedas that I feel I can trust in completely, but Cullen's ongoing adorkability in any game he's part of is one of the few.

I would see Cullen at this point as still slightly shy around women (or men?) that he might have a romantic interest in, but not to the extreme degree he was in the first game. Now that he's older and has seen more of the world, I wouldn't think he'd literally run away anymore if someone expressed attraction toward him, but I could definitely see him blushing and stammering a bit. 


To me, the shy streak is part of what makes Cullen... well... Cullen, and completely removing it would make him seem out of character, since he demonstrated that trait in both previous games. (More so in the first game, of course, because the player character can directly proposition him, but take the conversation about the brothel in the second game - that aspect of his personality is still there.) I don't think the writers would just randomly drop that trait, even if more time passing toned it down.


If Cullen is a love interest, I do see him still being a shyer (though not unwilling or uninterested) one.

No I get it. I just meant because his main adorkableness comes from his shy, hard to talk to girls about the sexy time thing. I was wondering if we wanted that tapered a bit you know?

Not really? I've only played the mage origin once, so I don't really remember how he is in DA:O. But I love him in DA2 (especially the way he stutters when mentioning the brothel). So I'd like him to just be like that, for the most part.

Think of how nervous Aveline was to approach Donnic. That reminds me of Cullen in a lot of ways... I think he would approach romance in the same way. They're both shy people, but that doesn't mean they're blushing shy violets. They're strong and capable, but when it comes to romance, they get a bit nervous.

Seemed reasonable to me, I've got nervous when attempting to woo/being wooed by men, more so when doing the wooing in case you get rejected.
