I agree. It was Aveline that said it made no sense to have that fear.

I just thought it was so cute. She was rusty :) Also, there was the rank issue. That has to be uncomfortable.

Lol R2, I can see you've been busy! The titles (and subtitles) of your eh... literature really made me laugh. Where can I place orders? :innocent:

LOL This is all old stuff. In fact, not one bit of it was new. We did cheesy romance covers for... I dunno, page 1700 or 1800? So "busy" if you consider the last two years and 3000 pages or so. ^_^

Oh, I didn't realize Gaider confirmed that there will be only 4 LI's.

Yeah, pretty much ^_^ He said six was his preferred number (2 gay, 2 straight, 2 bi), but that resources would likely prevent that, so they would stick with 4 bi.

Erm, I don't believe he's confirmed anything remotely this certain about the romances, has he? I think he's said that they'll likely all be bi, but not the total number. Can you point me to where he said this...?

What if Beardy is the type of character DG always wanted to write? An older Grey Warden. Wasn't Alistair originally going to be a grizzled GW veteran? And wasn't Alistair written by DG?

:o

Oh, man it's ridiculous how high my hopes got after reading this! How freaking awesome would that be? Hmm, I may need to file this away in my "wishful thinking" box. ^_^

Just so long as Cullen does not literally run away from me..fast!..if I proposition him..omg..I didn't realize I had been talking to ppl that had the Kiss mod.

So, yeah..I was like,wait...wha..where you going? omg, he just ran away from me. Fast. Well, indeed. Lmao!

edit: Yeah, so as long as he doesn't run away, I consider it tapered down. *gigglesnort*

Lol well yeah that's what I was focusing on, the running away part. Like

Inquisitor: *Flirt Option* How YOU doin. *waggly eyebrows*
Cullen: I...uh....*fades from existence*
Inquisitor: OH COME ON!!!!

Which is moot, cuz I was just curious. I'm VERY shy, well I was, I've recently sort of adopted a Isabela/Zevran kind of jokey jokey attitude. Just loosey goosey. Still get those bouts of "Gah people, must hide!".

Yeah my main point was whether you'd guys like him to be as shy as he was or if with age you expected him to kind of lose it. Like in your minds should he be a bit more comfortable with such things, but I agree he would lose a bit of what makes him lovable.

On Cullen's shyness around women, I'm torn about whether that's a core personality trait or not. In DA:O, I can't help but think that a lot of his reaction to Amell was severely tempered by the ethics of his situation, although probably also coupled with inexperience. From all indications, that may even be the first time he'd even spoken with Amell, which is awkward almost by definition. Sure, he stutters at the "lovely ladies" part in DA2, but that could be some natural prudishness. The rest of his DA2 character seems rather confident, so I could also imagine seeing a more self assured Cullen in the future.

Something I've talked about probably a billion times before (so, sorry) is that I'd like to see him have a problem tending to his own needs and the needs of one individual (i.e. his LI) over the needs of the many. He's pretty much spent his whole life subverting his own desires and concerns in order to protect the world from the dangers of magic, so I'd love to see him off balance trying to protect just this one person, particularly if doing that somehow conflicts with protecting the greater good. I've always thought that would be an interesting Questioning Beliefs quest.

I don't mean "officially confirmed." But I do know he said, whether on his blog or here on the forums, well, exactly what I said above. I promise you that, absolutely 100% without a doubt. Can I find exactly where he said it, no, I don't have those kind of skills lol And nobody has to believe me. I'm just saying that I did see him say this.

EDIT: Let me correct myself and say he did not confirm it, as in, "BioWare has confirmed that we will have 4 bi LI" but he said this was HIS personal preference and what HE intends to do.

Yeah!! I like this :D He has Mother Hen issues. He wants to take care of everyone (hence his "walk the middle ground" outlook on life). But has he ever been in love? Once he falls for the Inquisitor, those protective urges might shift. And it could confuse him, and make him feel guilty.

Also, I can see my inquisitor getting annoyed with his over-protectiveness lol Fun times :P

Yes exactly this! I could see him even having rather antiquated notions about chivalry... like from all those historical romance novels he secretly reads (!)... and then our Inquisitor has to help set him straight. LOL

Depending on Cullen's role in the Inquisition, he could also have some of fraternization issues with our Inquisitor, as I think Aveline did with Donnic (since, after all, workplace romance is usually frowned upon).

Ah, so much fun relationship disfunction to tap into!

Hmm, let's see, Aveline's dialogue said she had that fear and it made no sense, but there it was.

I Agree with you in that, yes, one can still have that fear and nervousness no matter how often they've... wooed or been wooed.

I was relaying Aveline's dialogue from in game. Not my personal feelings on what she said.  I should have used quotes.

I think that a big part of Aveline's issue (whether or not she could have articulated it) is that wooing and being wooed in the context of a relationship is very different than attempting to woo someone for the first time. Once she and Wesley were together/married... well, a relationship takes work, but she wouldn't have had the basic-level worry of whether he was sexually attracted to her, because that was established. With Donnic, she was starting completely from scratch - something she would not have had to do during her marriage to Wesley. If anything, having been in an established relationship for a period of time would mean she was out of practice at how you start one. :)

Lol! Waggly eyebrows.

Yeah, I was extremely shy when I was a teenager. Actually, I think I was born an extrovert, learned to be introverted, then reembraced my extroverted nature.

I love ppl, Man. I love talking to ppl, or "visiting" with them I should say. It just seems that thru out my life I've been forced one way or another to Not be shy. Various jobs and certain lovers.

A point comes when you just don't give a damn anymore. It's quite the liberating feeling, not feeling like "Gah! Ppl!"

It's great. I found that most ppl are shy in their own way, even the ones that seem like they have it all together. Everyone's a lil insecure and hoping to be accepted. shrugs.

I don't much care for ppl when I'm driving, tho. Too many idiot drivers. Idk what it is abt ppl and cars that brings out the friggin' idiot in them.

I'm working on taking deep breaths and shutting the eff up. Lol! Cuz, yeah, I'm not looking to get shot over sum road rage. You never know who you're really dealing with.

yeah, I got that. it just seemed like she was taking my relaying of Aveline's dialogue as my own personal view abt it. when i was just saying what Aveline said. lola kept asking me why i felt that way, and was like...??

I wasn't  sure she understood that I understood, agreed and have been there myself as well. i believe the way I worded my first post in this chain was a bit confusing. I was being lazy and didn't use quotes and ended up writing 3 extra posts...yay

I'm always late to the discussions. Boo!

Anyway, I'm 99.9% certain we can say Cassandra is romancable, seeing Mr. Gaider said he wrote two of the romances, and, unless there's a third companion he's written, then Cassandra and Mysterious Second are romanceable.

...Unless he rewrote the romance of that character that had to be completely redone.

Okay maybe I'm not quite 99.9% certain.

Yeah she was def rusty. but at one point she would have had to woo and be wooed by wesley, too.

it had been a long time, tho. seemed easier, but she prolly just forgot how nervous and exciting the whole first stirrings of love and romance w/Wesley were.

As this relates to Cullen, he does remind me of that kinda thing. A strong man w/his own mind, yet perhaps not as much practice w/the romance side of things, or it's been awhile for him, too.

I believe R2 mentioned an antiquated, but imo charming, idea of chivalry. with a healthy dash of jitters. Lol!

Ah, I wish we could just say once, "hey, remember that time when you were younger and you use to stutter when talking to the ladies?" but that might bring back bad memories. like the whole, "oh, yeah the year i was captured and tortured by blood mages?"

awkward.

yeah, it is confusing. i think it may actually be three companions. 2 from the ground up and one rework. Cass; 15 year char. and rework char.

and maybe rework char wasn't as demanding cuz it was a rework and not ground up..?

I'm so curious now abt these 2 mystery characters. 15year and Rework .

Cullen kind of reminds me of Quinn from SWTOR. He gets a bit awkward/nervous/tongue tied when the female Sith Warrior flirts with him, but it's not because he's utterly and completely shy and nothing else or anything. He's just very professional and soon as someone confronts him with something outside that professionalism he's very much "I... I have no idea how to respond to that."

He's pretty adorkable, but, when the relationship is more established, he doesn't mind taking the lead as it were. He doesn't act like some flighty, nervous virgin and I imagine Cullen, if he is a companion and romance, wouldn't act like that, either. Looking at it from a meta point of view I can say he won't act like that, because we've already had Alistair as the nervous virgin, and the writing team has already said plenty of times that they have no interest in writing the same romance arc twice.

(That's if he is a companion and romance option, of course.)

(And don't get me wrong! I love Alistair, but I don't think Cullen will be like that.)

I don't want Cullen to be Alistair 2.0, either. And i loved Alistair. I still do...don;t judge me. lol.

I'm not too worried, tho. Cullen doesn't do that humor to deflect questions thing. Or alot of humor really. Cullen seems much more comfortable in leadership roles and taking command. That's obvious.

Cullen seems more serious than Alistair. I don;t want him to be an old curmudgeon, however. Shaking his fist and yelling, "get off my lawn you damn mages!" Lol!

Oh, I know they're not really similar personality wise! I just meant in their romance arc. I can see why some people think they might be similar in that way, given how they're both Chantry boys and both get a bit stuttery when they're awkward, but I don't think they'd be too similar in that way either. :)

More like what R2s Muse said!
