I know it was mentioned a couple days ago by someone in the thread, but I've been wondering if her follower needed to be rewritten in order to support non-human Inquisitors...and who that could be.

Ah, I see. Romance wise. Hmm, how would they be diff? Somehow I see Cullen as initially blushy, etc, but def more confident after the first shocking moments.

Somehow I can see Cullen as actually quite the seductor---i don't think that's a word, but you know wat i mean--after the butterflies settle down. but i would still want him to be able to be flustered on occasion.

i think Cullen would be older and more experienced w/life in general and that would shape his personality and his approach to romance.

but that boy that ran away from the warden's kiss is still in there, too. lol!

i thought the rewrite might be hepler's, too. just cuz she left awhile ago and they've had to blow up plots and what not. so i imagine that a char written then would indeed need an overhaul.

if it's for non-human inquisitors, idk. when did they decide to have playable races? was hepler still there?

or maybe the story involving that char. changed so much it had to be redone.

That would make the most sense, I think? It's what seems like the most logical thing, at least, but I guess we'll only ever be able to speculate. Something like this doesn't really seem like something Mr. Gaider will come out and say outright. It's enough that he's said that he had to do a re-write of a character.

On Cullen's shyness around women, I'm torn about whether that's a core personality trait or not. In DA:O, I can't help but think that a lot of his reaction to Amell was severely tempered by the ethics of his situation, although probably also coupled with inexperience. From all indications, that may even be the first time he'd even spoken with Amell, which is awkward almost by definition.

I always saw it as more shyness as his long-standing crush on the woman, coupled with a severe freak out when out of the blue she makes a proposition, right after he just admitted that he was the one who was supposed to carry out the sentence if she'd been possessed.

The conversation essentially is;

Cullen: The Templars wanted me to put my sword in you.
Female Mage: Yes please!

Poor Cullen, I think it just about broke his brain.

Well, like R2s Muse said, he might have ran for different reasons than just being a bit shy. It did seem like the first time he'd ever talked to her, at least on casual terms, and to have her suddenly ask to bed him is a bit awkward. Also a bit creepy. 

It could also be that he's well aware of the position he has over her as a Templar, and he seems like a guy who would definitely not be okay with the questionable morals there. 

I'm not saying he wouldn't be adorkable and awkward, mind! Just that it'd be different to Alistair, who seems to have a few more insecurities and had that whole 'this is my first time' thing going on. Even if Cullen HASN'T slept with someone yet, there's all different kinds of virgins and not all of them are nervous/awkward/super shy once the relationship has progressed to that point.

LOL I should just say, "what Dirgegun said!" I just don't interpret his initial interactions with Amell/Surana as pure blushy schoolboy. He's a rule follower and his ward/prisoner is suggesting something completely immoral and inappropriate, made even more awkward by the fact that in his smalltown world, she's the person he happens to have a crush on. Good on him for getting out of a sticky situation with, if not his pride, at least his integrity intact.

Sadly, the blushy stuttering seems to be the one character trait folks tend to expect from him, so regardless of what we (I?) think, I wouldn't be surprised if the new game beats that drum quite hard. But I hope not. I'd rather see mature Cullen with his sh!t together, but who just has no experience with romance (and all the still-interesting permutations of this the game could explore).

Like you guys are saying, while we've come to sort of expect him to be fumbley around the ladies I'm kind of hoping we'll find him at a point where he's just had enough. He's certainly seen enough mayhem by now that a bit of a rough and jaded personality would be acceptable. NOT full blown 'poor me' angst (*cough* Fenris) - just a tough nut to crack, ya know? Surely, there's a middle ground.

Good point! I tend to write him as such a boy scout, but I always appreciate it when I read a less-nice, more assertive Cullen. So I also wonder what he'll be like, if he gets enough screen time to actually warrant a personality this go around. LOL

Well, to be fair he DOES have personality, and enough personality that we can build assumptions off of it. We just haven't seen all the aspects of it quite yet. 

It's kind of like how we know Jowan's personality, but just not all the aspects of it. And Teagan's personality but just not all the aspects of it.
