So who do you think will be announced next, if anyone? I'm expecting a male companion for some reason. Either the Iron Bull of Beardy Warden. They are the most visible.

My OCD demands it be a male, so we have two females and then two males announced. Varric being the only dude amongst the dudettes is not balanced! Unless you count the Inquisitor as male, I guess.

I do think Iron Bull and Beardy Warden have the most likelihood of being announced next, considering their presence. Especially Iron Bull, but who knows? Bioware might want to keep his status up in the air for a little while longer yet considering he has that whole 'friend or foe?' thing going for him on the website.

I think if Iron Bull is a companion, then they'll prolly reveal him cuz it'll be "cool". You know.

If Cullen is actually a companion, I really don;t see them revealing him until like the very last moment cuz, I think they're scared.

Beardy isn't so exciting/cool for an early reveal. Or, maybe McSmuggins. They'd prolly reveal him sooner than later.

So, my guess would be the reveal would prolly be male, and either Iron Bull, or Elfy McSmuggins.

Matter of opinion, really. I think Beardy Warden looks plenty interesting ;D

Iron Bull definitely seems like a character they're pushing, while, at the same time, keeping him secret. At least when it comes to his companion status and whether or not he'll be 'friend or foe' as it were. I can see him being revealed next, because he's been hinted at so strongly, but, at the same time, I can see them keeping that mystery about him a while longer yet.

Beardy Warden seems more likely to be announced next than McSmugness, in my oppinion, seeing we've not only seen him in concept art but he was used, along with Cassandra, in the armour demo/example we saw a while back. We've also seen someone who looks like him in some game play videos, while we haven't seen McSmugness outside of concept art.

So my money is on Iron Bull, Beardy Warden, or the wily female elf, if they make it another girl.

Cullen, if he is a companion, I can't see being revealed until much, much later. Not because Bioware is scared, but because he wouldn't make a very 'big' reveal. I love him and would freak if he was announced as a companion and LI, as I'm sure everyone in the thread would, but they've already revealed both Cassandra and Varric, so anymore 'returning' characters doesn't seem like it would be a good reveal plan at this point when they have new characters to make people curious about.

-scratches chin, speculates on things that are silly to speculate on-

...Or they could be super duper nice and spoil us rotten by revealing everyone on Valentine's Day.

Ha! I think Beardy Warden is plenty interesting, too. But from a PR standpoint, I don't think he has the wow factor they prolly want right now.

With Cullen I think they're scared cuz alot of players don't like him, and right now BW wants.."Wow! Cool!" Not , "Ugh, that guy? Fanservice!" If Cullen is a companion, it will get a bit ugly at first.

I don;t think the female elf just cuz it's another female.

Sooo, I think cuz we have two female humans already, BW might wanna go with something different. That's why I think Iron Bull, or McSmuggins.

But who knows? There are other followers, or replacement followers we simply don't know abt yet...

I'm not sure how much I wanna know abt who the compaions are , tbh. I read a post abt this in the Twitter thread, I think, and she made a good point abt it being more fun to discover them

At this point tho, I just wanna know if Cullen is in, or not. otherwise I'll be looking for him thru out the game. And that's no fun.

But more than that, I might have to sequester myself. I do want that sense of discovery..I just don;t know if I can do that. Lol!

Knowing who the companions are is one of the things I want to have spoiled. Seeing I have a bit of an OCD with 'gotta have them all!' Which is also is a bit of an issue I have with HoDA, as it has a 50-character max... I really hate it that i have to nom special characters like the wintersend golem-thingy, because I'd reach my max...

I'm on the fence, I think. I went into both Dragon Age and Mass Effect not knowing anything about them, and that lead to one hell of a first experience, but at the same time, just knowing who the companions are isn't a huge spoiler for me, either, because it's not like Bioware will tell us all about them in their reveal. Instead that's for us to discover~

I mean we know next to nothing about Vivienne, but I'm excited for her, her potential, and what I believe the character might be like. So knowing about her certainly hasn't taken away anything for me! I'm lucky, though, and I tend to like EVERY companion in Bioware games and appriciate the role other characters play in the storyline, even if they are scumbag villains. I know there's some people here who've taken one look at Vivienne and don't think much of her at all, though. So I do hope they find someone to be excited for!

So...

Okay, I'm not on the fence. I'm okay with knowing the companion line up. Helps me know who to keep an eye out for too, because with how much bigger this game is, I'm worried it'll be even easier to miss companions by accident.

I know I'd bug every NPC I see to find out if they might be a companion otherwise... so yeah, it's better for me to know it beforehand, lol.

Then there's the possibility that you could miss recruiting them if you don't know they're supposed to be a companion. How many people missed Sten because they couldn't open the cage, or Leliana and/or Isabela because they didn't go back to the bar? (I missed Isabela my first time.) Or hell what if you didn't know to read your mail and missed Fenris.

I missed Leliana and Sten my first time playing through Origins. And I missed Fenris during my first DAII playthrough, which lead me to spending the whole playthrough wondering where my magical fisting elf was at.

I missed Sten my first time through, but only because I couldn't figure out how to convince the Revered Mother to release him! Image IPB

I'm a spoiler queen, so I say let me know who all the companions are. Knowing who they are doesn't ruin it for me because the experience of actually having them in the party is quite different than just knowing who they are.

Lol, yeah I missed Sten. Had no idea. Especially after Ostagar and the jailed guy there. I thought I'll be back, but then Lothering was demolished. Oops. But then I still had no idea until I saw ppl talking abt this "Sten" character.

Leli was a bit more obvious for me. She was very insistent on coming w/me. lmao.

Sooo, I guess knowing the comapnions won't be too bad, right? Maybe not knowing the circumstances of their recruitment will keep the discovery for me. Right?

I agree with this as well. Knowing who they are won't tell us where we can find them. Knowing me, I'll miss someone anyway. Image IPB

I'll take any bet that the Iron Bull (or whatever the big one-eyed qunari is called) is not a companion.

He seems more like an adversary.

Fenris mission should not have been dependent on an email. And Isabela should have had another way of intro besides counting on the player to visit the Hanged Man...as much as I do. lol!

I hung out at the HM. Even Norah commented on it, "You sure spend alot of time here, don't you?" >_>

This would make me very sad.

Although, I don't get the adversarial vibe from the lil we've seen, tho. He's just hanging out in places...that I don't even know where they are.

IB doesn't seem like an adversary to me, more like an important NPC... I don't feel he'd be in so many promo pics AND be named and yet not be announced as a companion yet.

My theory is he's a mercenary who effectively acts as a Dragon to the villain. I bet he'll lead an army to besiege one of your fortresses at some point.

I find it odd that his presence has been revealed in the game but they haven't stated he's a companion. Like, what are they hiding at this point? Also, his whole appearance screams "antagonist" at me, especially since he seems to be hovering menacingly in most of the concept art.

Well, that article mentions that a Dragon can do a Heel-Face Turn, effectively turning against his leader and becoming a good guy. I hope that Iron Bull, if he is in fact an adversary, gets a change of heart and helps the Inquisitor fight the bad guys.

Like I said, my theory is he's a mercenary hired out by the actual villain. Perhaps he throws in the towel after you beat him and offers to join the Inquisition.

Oh, and that missing eye is a Red Right Hand if I ever saw one.

I always threatened that old bird in the Chantry until she gave me the key to let Sten out. I missed Leliana the first time around, I didn't even realise there was a tavern in Lothering at first.

Well, the leak did mention that Iron Bull may have split loyalties at sum point, and seemingly have to choose.

But his appearance itself does not scream antagonist to me. Neither do I get the hovering menacingly vibe. That's just the way he looks, and that doesn't tell me who he is.

But then Merass in DA2 did mention after the Qunari invasion attempt that he was getting alot of business now as a merc himself simply because he looked intimidating.

So, yeah. I imagine a qunari Inquisitor is going to have these kinds of issues, too.
Perhaps, you'll use it to your advantage? Intimidating ppl. Or it may prove to be a real hindrance. Ppl are gonna be scared of you, or demonize you cuz of how you look.

Should prove to be an interesting PT. (I hope).

It's actually kinda fun threatening her.

The first time tho, I just thought Oh, I'll raise my persuasion skill a bit, and pranced off. Then Lothering was gone. It woulda been cool if I coulda picked the lock. Very discretely and busted Sten out.
