Is it underground, or underwater? I wanted to go there.
Is this location from sum of the other screenshots we saw recently? The Arbor Wilds? The trees and foliage look similar?
And what is going on here? Is it in the process of sinking, or is that supposed to be a discovery of its remnants? And there's a wee lil person standing there at the edges.

I would say Arbor Wilds too. It's in deep, deep Dales territory so that's where I'd want it. And i would say it looks more like it's rising with magic. Maybe there's survivors? As in ancient elves who still know stuff about the elves and the elven pantheon.

those waters do look to be churning. but i can't tell if it's just a waterfall affect, or it really is moving.

Re:Arlathan, wow. Just, wow. I wasn't too keen on the elven history thing... Til I saw that pic. Stunning. And indeed, the circular bridge thingie and the water is very reminiscent of Atlantis, isn't it? So freaking cool!!!

interesting. From twitter:Batteries wrote...
“And thus was mighty Arlathan cast down, its people swallowed by darkness—never to rise again.”
- DA Facebook
I knew Arlathan had to be underground.
“Here lies the abyss, the well of all souls. From these emerald waters doth life begin anew.”pic.twitter.com/5mlaRiBVG0
This quote is from the Chant of light. Andraste 14:11, which was quoted in the Calling. When they found that creepy underground lake in the Deep Roads.

To be honest, I was exactly the same. The elven lore was never really highlighted at any particular point in the games so I wasn't really inclined to learn more beyond maybe which god each Dalish tattoo represented, and even then we only have good guesses from the community. I think they were going for something similar to the Qunari or something where they're just teasing us with information regarding the lore and it just sort of backfired if you ask me.
But this! Oh yessss. Further proof of elven superiority. Like we needed more with those ears!

@Elfman: agree. Interesting. From Arlathan codex, part 2:
"It is said that the Tevinter magisters used their great destructive power to force the very ground to swallow Arlathan whole, destroying eons of collected knowledge, culture, and art. The whole of elven lore left only to memory."

It was being debated if this was Arlathan cuz Arlathan is supposed to be too far north for the game.
I thought maybe even if it isn't Arlathan proper, it might be a satellite settlement or colony. They did have a large empire at one time.
Someone also mentioned they may be pulling a Javik w/ an elven survivor. Maybe descendent..or in an "eternal sleep" thing.
Then that made me wonder abt Elfy McSmuggins......
edit: oh, but wait. He's from Tevinter. nvm.

I also wonder if McSmuggins isn't Fenrh...Fenrhail..Fenrhele..ack. But that, all grown up. He'd be somewhere in his 20's, right?
Or is that too small world? I could never romance him if it was. Even w/ a diff char. It'd still feel...wrong.

I am curious why there's so much certainty it can't be THE Arlathan, tho.

Yeah that Miranda fan's elf genocide jokes were really out of line.

Oh, and we don't actually know that Elfy McSmuggins is from Tevinter, since we don't know identically that he's Dorian from the survey leak.
Yeah and the more I look at his clothes, the more out of place I feel he would look if he was in Tevinter. He looks more like a random apostate from Ferelden maybe with all that fur.

I wouldn't mind it to be Arlathan at all, but as far as I know, the general consensus is that we do not go that far north in DA:I, so this picture should be of something else... *shrug* I'd be up for digging through heaps and heaps of ancient lore.R2s Muse wrote...

I've always been a bit more interested in the dwarven lore tbh. I feel like we don't actually know all that much about it.
Like... What is the Stone, anyway? Just a metaphor or is it an actual thing? That golem in DA2 spoke like it was an actual thing.
Kal-Sharok is somewhere I would love to finally see too. I foresee creepy shenanigans.
