I agree that the Keep probably won't let you create same-sex romances between Alistair and the Warden or Morrigan and the Warden. Of course it's my great hope that it would, but I doubt it (especially if either or both appear in the game, and we know Morrigan does). A lot of the fans would lose their sh!t, not over Morrigan of course but Alistair. God imagine all the uproar regarding "retconning Alistair into being a playsexual sell out" etc. etc.

As for same-sex marriage, it's too bad DA is an older game; I have a feeling if DA:I were it's first game and not it's third that it would have same-sex marriage. It's such a progressive game and company. Actually, you can work same-sex marriage into a royal storyline; not producing an heir could be particularly appealing to those who aren't comfortable with the incoming spouse's bloodline and who have another heir in mind.

Oh yeah the Morrigan romance is probably even worse since she's preggers even if the DR was refused but the Warden did sleep with her earlier, (which is just stupid unless part of the ritual involved her whacking her womb with a baseball bat before she did the deed since she even says the baby had to be concieved on the eve of the battle...but I'll let it slide it's not important).

But I disagree with that same sex marriage thing. The writing team has barely changed since DAO and I think David Gaider would have been the most against it to be honest judging from (the way I remember) his wording in an interview. He just seemed so matter-of-fact about it. And honestly, even supporting gay marriage and being bisexual myself,  I agree with him that in the minds of most people it's just too modern. I'd accept it if Isabela said she had gay pirates on her ship who were married, (since pirates did have gay marriages funnily enough), but the Chantry was, at the end of the day, started by nobles and the whole point of nobility is to have kids and carry on the dynasty so of course it's going to. Plus it would just remove the illegitimate bastard thing completely. If he married a guy ALL of Alistair's kids would have to be illegitimate.

On that note if newer wardens DID have a chance at a baby, would the baby be born with the taint, and not live that long?

Alistair survived a decent amount of time, (since we can safely assume given the many, many hints that have been thrown at us that Fiona is really Maric's baby mummy)

He did, but taken into consideration that infants dont really have much of an imune system and the taint of the darkspawn roaming into the blood (thats assuming that taint transfers to the child) I would suspect that the baby wouldnt live for long altho I could be wrong

uh, well, I would think they'd be born w/the taint. How that would affect them, Idk since it would be a part of their system from the get go.

Maybe it's the new system and introduction of it to the taint that throws the whole thing outta whack?

Or, maybe a kid born w/the taint could be seen as having a genetic mutation that could be beneficial. A bit of the hair of the dog that bit ya--like a vaccine?

It would be interesting to have a kid/person in the world that was genetically immune to the taint. Without the nasty side effects.

I believe the children of Wardens are free of the taint.

That said, Alistair was a special case, since Fiona was apparently cured of the taint.

I always thought that Cailan was shooting blanks. We do know that he wasn't entirely faithful to Anora and had mistresses. Like father like son. ;)

He could be hiding his bastard child/ren better than Maric did. Or he doesn't know about any.

Oh right I forgot that Fiona was a warden, although, I'm not quite certain that Alistair IS in fact Fiona's child tho, he doesn't really have that elfish look like Fenryel did, so idk.  Also Im sure that Maric slept with more then just Kathriel, Rowan and Fiona. That guys was pretty much a male version of Isabella or Zevran 2.0 lol but with more charm so it wouldnt really surprise me if ti was actually the maids baby, but heck who knows

I'm just saying that if the franchise were beginning now, in 2014, then the lore could have easily been written to include same-sex marriages and have them make sense. I'm working on a story that incorporates same-sex marriage, especially between a noble and a commoner, since it's a marriage without issue, and thus everyone is happy (nobles get commoner's money, commoner gets the noble's name).

I don't think that the baby of a warden will become tainted. It's a blood taint and babies aren't usually affected by any blood disease the mother has. (Babies don't have to get HIV as example.) Also Babies in the Grey Wardens were not unheard of. Highly unlikely but not unheard of? If the very few born were tainted it would be known?

About our Royal Buggers, Cailan and Maric. I think they both were players. Cailan a political one (Union with Orlais?) and Marric a normal ****. I'd love it if it turns out there are more royal bastards out there. Perhaps a female royal bastard.

I believe nice, kind, charming people are fully capable of sleeping around and even being unfaithful. But this is a fantasy and maybe good and bad needs to be black and white in their personalities for people to "buy" the story?

Btw, does the lore say that human/elf offspring look human? Wasn't there someone in DA2 who looked elf but had a human father? (Need to look that one up) Edit: babies look human was from the calling. Half H&E was Feynriel and he looks half elf.

(Ps Cullen Theirin... Let ALL the bastards be Templars. Hehe)

Man, since that dream I had earlier I'm doubly excited about DAI now!

Most of the time I'm at the stage where I'm able to wait patiently by keeping myself busy with other games or concerntrating on my channel, but whenever I have one of those vivid DAI dreams, or read/see a particularly good piece of fanart/fanfic/fan video, or they release a sizeable chunk of new information I'm right back to being all hyped up and impatient to play it again!

Still, at least the game finally comes out this year! Thank the Maker that they're actually revealing information now, in theory we should be alright for discussion/speculation fodder from now on.

Yeah, if it does get delayed again then I'd rather not find out until closer to the current expected shipping date, that way we'd only be waiting a few extra months more, rather than being told about it now and knowing we'd have to wait another year, lol.

Well, we've got the beta testing thing coming up, and even if we aren't allowed to make a YouTube video about it, you can bet your arse that at some point it'll end up getting leaked by one of the other beta testers. Then of course there's these dev diaries they're planning to do over the next few weeks, so they'll probably be out next month. Add that to the promotional material they'll be releasing, along with companion/LI announcements etc and we should be good.

If anything this month will probably be the quiet one.

Fiona ends up taint-free after all the shenanigans in the Calling, so I don't think I'd call it a straight up cure, since no one's really sure why it happened.

That being said, if Fiona is Alistair's mum, to me that really calls into question this characterization of Maric as a womanizer. If Goldanna's mum wasn't pregnant with Maric's kid, I don't know that there's any evidence he ever cheated on anyone. Katriel was dead when he married Rowan. Rowan was dead when he shagged Fiona.

Well, I guess the Wardens can add that to the DR, then. They're prolly still scratching their heads over that one. They should be. *snort*.

The only Warden to slay the Archdemon, and survive. Alistair: "Questions are already coming in..." Lol! :wizard::whistle:

What I wonder is if that technically counts as not slaying the archdemon? And is the OGB still a darkspawn magnet?

Do you think we're gonna see Alistair in DAI? I kinda hope not actually. Not sure why.

But seeing as how he may be king of Fereldan! Or even a high ranking Warden by now. It seems we're gonna be interacting w/the Wardens to a good extent. And w/Orlais eyeballing Fereldan, and all that intrigue. I wonder.

I think too that the taint will not carry over to a child. And as far as I know only warden + warden is as good as impossible for baby making. I guess the taint is just some good birth control... double dutch anyone?

But Cullen Theirin?  Please no...

It was a special case. Fiona and the other Wardens in The Calling were given amulets fashioned by the Architect that accelerated their corruption. Once they were removed, it somehow produced a reverse effect in Fiona, removing the taint from her body. That's why she's still active in Asunder. It's not clear if the circumstances could ever be replicated.

Wow. I wonder if the amulets have a diff impact on those of elven heritage?

Ack, I gotta read that one, too.

I don't mind if he shows up or not, so long as he's still in a relationship with my Warden.
