The wiki says he wrote Tali, Jack, Kasumi, and Mordin. I do love Tali. Jack's dialogue gets a little immature at times though (imo of course). Mordin, I don't know WHAT'S up with his way of talking, but that's a pet peeve. I think his arc is nice, but still, I don't understand why he talks the way he does. (When I first played ME3 I seriously thought all salarians talked that way.) Kasumi is DLC so I don't know her.

IMO none of the character dialogue in ME compares to DA. It's just so much better... so easy. It doesn't sound like dialogue; it sounds like conversation. ME dialogue is fine, but the great voice actors are what really brought it to the next level.

Tbh I'm a little miffed DG is not writing the next DA novel. Why is PW doing it? It makes me nervous. Are they kind of slowly shuffling DG out? I don't think I'll be able to read that novel.

Oh GOD I hope not. DG is my fav writer I dont usually read a lot of books becaue some of them are too boring DG's novels are the only ones that I actually got to finnish without blowing my brains out

You gotta remember Jack was a kid who was locked up and mentally, emotionally and physically abused her whole life and had no parental figures to speak of, she also fell into the wrong crowd after her escape... so with a background like that she's not about to be the epitome of class and maturity. She's a beautiful character, though. Mordin is perfection. And Kasumi is definitely a very, very fun gal. I'm biased as all hell towards Mr. Weekes, though.

I think he might have wrote the Garrus romance too, which is the best romance in the game. Again, I'm biased as all hell, though. Very, very biased.

He is a fantastic writer, though, and has his own novel out called The Palace Job which is a fantasy take on the Heist genre and has the same kind of humour as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is one of my all time favourite series, so... my bias is really, really showing here. orz

He is a very nice writer, though.

I imagine he's writing the next novel because 1. Mr. Gaider doesn't seem to want to write anymore novels. It really must be tiring writing novels at the same time as a game too. 2. Mr. Weekes wanted to and already has experience with novels now.

I meant the writing was a little immature, not that Jack herself was.

But no worries, I'm an ME fan :) It just worries me. If DG were ever removed from the DA franchise, I'm pretty sure I'd be done, too.

I don't think we have anything to worry about there! I don't get the sense that he's getting the shaft at all, just that he might be done with novels after doing so many plus a comic series. That must be a lot of work on top of writing for a game as well.

The most important thing here is that Mr. Weekes is writing one of the romances. Awww yesss.

Weekes was one of the writers from ME right? If so Im not familiar with his work cause I never played the game, but if he did good romaces in ME  then I would be happy for whatever character he will write the romance  in DAI

Isn't Patrick writing Sera? Female elf romance confirmed?

R2: I'm glad I'm not the only one that's concerned.

I guess I just really want to grow attached to my Inquisitor (which ever race/class/gender I settle on) and I've noticed that in a lot of games the protagonist sometimes feels lacking in comparison to other characters/companions and/or npcs. BioWare are pretty good at getting it right, but what with all this emphasis put on exploration, discovery and all these new things they've implemented I worry that other aspects of the game will suffer.

Luke's writing the blonde elf, whatever her name might be. David Gaider confirmed this over at his tumblr!

We don't really know who Patrick Weekes is writing other than possibly Iron Bull, which is just speculation at this point, and an elf he's mentioned.

I do understand the worry, but at this point I'm not personally there yet. Who knows where I'll be in the future, though.

I think the reason we've heared about these new things is that they're not spoilery like characters and story are, including who the Inquisitor is, but also because they're new aspects and that's simply marketing, I guess. Gotta show off the new stuff.

True. I wasn't around for the previous two DA games development or promotion, so I don't know if this is just how they always operate.

Oh, that's right. Hmm, maybe a romance for Iron Bull? That would be interesting.

LOL I think that was MMG, actually.  Myself, I'm actually not so concerned. My guess is that what we saw in the demo was just the investigational dialogue which is necessarily neutral. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they showed us something deliberately neutral since they clearly wanted to showcase the paraphrasing of the actions (or whatever it should be called).

Given the love of snarky!Hawke, and the snark we've already seen ooze from Vivienne, I'm not worried about a snark-less game. But! I would also guess that BW is trying to make the Inquisitor seem more your character than many felt with Hawke, so hopefully they didn't go too far in the other direction. I also agree that the Warden seems rather lifeless (at least to me). I find her hard to play now after Hawke, but for myself, I think that owes more to the complete lack of facial expression than the voicing/emotion in the dialogue.

On whether we should worry that we didn't see much expression from the demo!Inquisitor, I dunno. I wouldn't be surprised if they were still tweaking the balance on that, so perhaps they limited what we could see of that as well (namely, by putting a helmet on the bugger).

I also got the impression that DG was spreading the opportunity around, so that he's not the only one who gets to write the tie-in novels. He said something exactly to this effect, altho who knows if he was just being diplomatic, or whatever.

I think DG said something about it being stressful to do or something. I'm not surprised that he passed up the opportunity to write another novel, judging by his tweets he's been writing up stuff for DAI almost non-stop. I'm amazed at how much he's able to churn out! I guess he must have found inspiration or something.

There's a pic of it on my Twitter, it's kinda obscure but it's one of the tattoos Jack has on the side of her head. Mines behind my ear.

I hope the Inquisitor is able to have personality. Dear Maker I hope so.

I think what they May be doing is just cutting out the assumed personality for auto-dialogue parts. So, maybe you have more control of how your PC reacts in every situation. Instead of having it assumed because of dominant tone.

Which I'd like cuz there were times when I did not want Hawke being auto snarky, or auto aggro. Let me choose how in any given situation.

This is my hope, at any rate. And maybe the dialogue itself won't revolve around the tone, but rather be implied because of the actual dialogue.

And Patrick Weekes is an awesome writer. I'm glad he's on the team. Imo, he has a good sense for what the audience "needs", emotionally...hard to explain, but yeah.

But there were times when the auto-dialogue was GREAT, and tbh, it truly defined my various Hawke's during really specific moments. For example, at the end of the Fenris romance, when Fenris confesses his feelings...

Nemanja Hawke, my thoughtful, diplomatic, mature Hawke, replies, "I understood. I always understood."

Whereas Eirik, my snarky adorable bastard Hawke, says, "Oh, I dunno. This might be fun to hold over you awhile longer."

When Fenris grabs him and kisses him, it's different, you know? Grabbing that uber romantic Hawke versus grabbing that snarky bastard and shutting him up with a kiss lol

I'm going to miss that, desperately.
