But those are the ones that hit me the strongest, and stay w/me. DAO first pt=Alistair; DA2 first pt=Anders. They were very powerful.
I've romanced others on diff pt's, and while I enjoyed them, there wasn't the same oomph that the first ones have.

The execution of the system, though, was kind of problematic because everything was weighted on the same scale regardless of whether it should be something minor or something that would be relationship-breaking, so I ended up having to suspend my disbelief even more at times.
I hope the new system allows us to remain friends with people who we don't lock-step opinions with, but without allowing us to emotionally abuse our followers without consequences either.

Yeah man that's all I'm asking for! I would also like the rival romances to not be so... taut with friction. Fenris really doesn't seem to even like rival Hawke; he just wants to have sex with him/her. (Sorry to keep mentioning Fenris; I've romanced him way more than the others so I know his path well haha) But yet I really wanted to play a mage Hawke who stuck to his core values yet won Fenris' love anyway. Instead I had to head canon that.
I want the chance to bring companions to your side of the argument. Not have them completely trash their old values. But just have them finally think/say (after 100% friendship or whatever), "I understand where you're coming from. I guess my views might be a little extreme. Still, I stand by what I believe. But I suppose there can be a few exceptions."
I guess what I'm saying is I want to see character growth. But not at the expense of what makes that character him/herself.
Like I'm not saying I wanted Fenris to become a mage-hugger or for Isabela to start doing charity work. But, you know lol

I would love to be able to have discussions with the companions too... you know, to not just influence them, but perhaps they can change the views of the inquisitor as well.
This would be awesome!!

This would be awesome!!I love the thought of my OWN character growing, too.
I had fun developing my Hawke's views. She started out very firmly believing that Circles were a necessary evil and accordingly supporting the Kirkwall Circle, but by the end she had decided that this particular Circle was just too screwed up and thus she was helping mages escape. I enjoyed playing a character who wasn't always right and changed her mind when she realized that.

Prior to veil rip: bit of a joker, prone to getting herself in trouble, acts before thinking, impulsive and generally just winging it with no idea of what she wants to do with her life. (Possibly been stuck inside the tower her whole life, so has no real life experience, the recent break down of the circle towers has thrown her into a life she's never experienced so she's gone a bit wild on her new found freedom, despite having to be aware of the Templar situation).
After veil rip: Cassandra/the Divine/whoever wants answers about why the veil ripped open/what she saw/who she saw etc, they decide to reform the Inquisition and that my character should lead it. She's declines, she's no leader (she thinks), she has no prior/not enough experience to command an army, let alone try to rally people to the cause! Her family history may hold/may have once held some importance (whatever that may be), but she's not a regimented committed type (especially if she's had any run-ins with the law). Cassandra/Divine/whoever insists/forces her to become the Inquisitor, she has no choice in the matter.
First taking control of the Inquisition: She has no idea how she's going to accomplish this feat but the fate of the world depends on her, she's nervous but tries to hide it with humour. She's literally winging it.
The Inquisition growing: She's seen and experienced a lot of terrible things, death, destruction and had to make some tough decisions, she tries to steal herself but her experiences have shaken her. Some of her companions have noticed that she's not quite herself, despite using humour to deflect. The companions and potential LI will gradually come to her for a heart-to-heart to try and get her to open up (eventually successfully).
The Inquisition is large now: By now she's become used to the bloodshed and enjoys a good fight, she's come into her own as the Inquisitor and is used to making tough decisions. She's come to terms with the fact that this could be a suicide mission as the odds are stacked against them. Her companions have noticed that her attitude to battle and death has become colder, still has a very distasteful sense of humour.
Nearing the end of the game, prior to the final battle: Something terrible happens (because it always does in a BioWare game!
You get the idea, anyway. Feel free to add your own to this!

That to me, sounds a lot like one of my DAO pt, (until the end part) and that my warden was a Cousland and not a mage. Although, I'm not quite sure yet as to how I would play my Inq, since i dont really know much of my character's "back story" or dialog options

Oh wow, you've really thought this out! I have no idea how I'm going to play my first character, aside from the fact that she will be a rogue and probably pretty snarky (as all my characters usually are lol) Sometimes, depending on how the character ends up looking, I think of certain little background traits while messing around with the CC. Once I finish the game, and know what the whole story entails I'll prob take the time to plan out how my next character will develop and such.
Well, during my first playthrough I always play as myself so I'm just going on how I'd handle being in that situation based off what I was like when I was younger, experiences I've had where I've had to take the lead and my reaction to stuff I've felt guilty for in the past etc, then I just amplify it for a serious situation like a veil rip, LOL!

In DA:O the Warden I ended up growing attached to the most was my me-Warden who was/is a human Mage (for the life of me I couldn't make an accurate or decent looking Elf or Dwarf on just the Vanilla Xbox version). Tbh, I think the only reason why my me-Warden became my favourite was simply because she wasn't voiced so when reading her dialogue it was in my voice and there were so many response options that each time I could pick a response that I'd come out with in real life... Well, that and I was majorly crushing on Alistair and I started playing DA:O at a bad time in my life when I was still with my **** ex, so it was kinda like my escapism, I have quite an emotional connection to the game for that reason so it seems appropriate that my Warden should be me. (I just wish that the Warden had some actual reactivity or facial expressions to things, I wish they'd used a voice protagonist for DA:O).
My Hawke, on the other hand is a male sarcastic Mage (I like Carver the bestest and I like that he's related to my Warden!) He's of Rivani skin tone with a tattoo under one eye, piercing Grey/blue eyes and long dark hair. Best of all is that he's such a ****ing idiot! It wasn't until I created him that I finally started to really enjoy DA2. I really liked the contrast between my Hawke's constant jokes to Anders (his LI) seriousness, plus sarcastic Hawke reminds me of DA:A Anders, lol.
By by the time I came to finish my ultimate canon play through of DA2, I actually felt kinda sad that it was over, lol! So I'm really hoping that I'll be able to gel with at least one of the race/class/personality/background/voice combos for DAI!

My canon Hawke came about similar to yours. I create a bunch of Hawke's in a row, but I always held a special place in my heart for my first Hawke, Nemanja Hawke. But I royally effed up that first playthrough, missed recruiting Isabela and everything. Plus I was a warrior and my bulky armor ruined all the romance scenes, haha xD So I replayed him as a rogue, and now he's definitely my #1 canon. But all that playing also made me realize I love another of my Hawke's, Eirik Hawke. He has a different personality (sarcastic) AND he's kind of pro-templar (though he sided with mages at the end and didn't kill Anders, even though he didn't like him).
Tbh I'm kind of glad for the Keep because I was going to have to play DA:O over and I didn't really want to (not b/c it's bad or anything; just kind of burnt out on both games at this point!) My first Warden was/is my canon (well, in reality my first Warden was played at my brother-in-law's house b/c I didn't have an xbox, but I don't count him). But, again, I effed everything up; I even had to sleep with Morrigan

The only time I ever play the DA games now is when I need to record a specific scene for my DA videos, or if I'm collecting up Cullen clips/pics with my head swap Cullen-Hawke, lol. I really need to rescue my saves from my Xbox hard drive and transfer them over to my PC so that I can load up my ultimate DA2 save and show you all my Hawke.
