The female Templar could lie and say it was from someone outside of the Order/Circle or from a drunk night in the Blooming Rose lol. I get the impression that marriage is generally discouraged unless the partner is of a certain rank in society, so a Templar couldn't just marry some commoner from Darktown or whatever.

That's a definite possibility, if the templar is the father (I'm sure Wynne refused to name the father, since she seemed to imply that Rhys wasn't the product of rape), but if the templar is the mother, that gets tricky. DG has gone on the record as saying that templars have a policy against fraternization, i.e. having relationships with coworkers, so a female templar would be under a lot of pressure to name the father. Not that it would matter. If he was a mage, she would be kicked out for deliberately compromising her authority. If he was a templar, she would be out for breaking the "no fraternization" policy. I have no idea what would happen if she said it was Kester. 

Anyway, she'd be out of a job one way or another, so there would be no need to put the child in the chantry.

Kester... mmm! 

So in this situation, is it possible that Cullen's mother/father are still at the tower as a mage or templar and both he and they have no idea?

LOL that would be awesome! It would be pretty cool if it turned out that both his parents were mages that were killed at the hands of Templars after trying to escape the tower with him as a baby so that they wouldn't have to give him up to the Chantry... Man, how much of a head **** would that be!

I always wondered if one of them might be his father, just for dramatic reasons lol. What if his father was a Greagoir and he had to kill his mage lover who had tried to escape with Cullen as a baby, so he put the baby in the Chantries orphanage and insured that he was assigned to the Ferelden Circle when he was of age so that Gregoir could keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't make the same mistakes as he had. Ah, I love the drama!

LOL! I wonder how Cullen would discover who his parents are/were (if they ran with the orphan storyline)? Maybe we visit Ferelden again and stop in the orphanage and he disappears off for to search for his papers or something?

Would love a quest like this in the next game. The Ferelden Tower is deserted now, with the mages all run away and the templars off chasing them. Everything's in a shambles from looters, kinda like the first time we went there for Broken Circle. And, you crawl through to find these documents for him. Maybe he needs to know for some reason (I suppose they don't donate kidneys back then...).
