The only "Let It Go" I know is from the movie Frozen. So now I'm seeing Sigrun skipping through the Deep Roads singing show tunes at the top of her lungs.
Yeah I was kinda disappointed when I realised it wasn't.
BUT I WASN'T DISAPPOINTED FOR LONG!
Guess who just got an offer from Durham University?! Me! Yay!
As a job, or to attend? Either way, congrats

Delurking to say....I don't think Cullen needs "fixing"
He is perfectly capable of healing on his own.
That screenshot for the confession was a great choice though.

"Fixing" someone is a fantasy... can't do it. I do like the thought of helping someone "heal." I feel my Warden/Hawke helped Zevran and Fenris heal and move beyond their pasts. Zevran moreso than Fenris, but then Fenris was more damaged.
How old will Cullen be again? Trying to decide if he'll be in a similar situation or if it's likely he'll have figured more out for himself. I do prefer the thought of Cullen being older and wiser, perhaps even counseling the inquisitor to some degree. "I know what you're going through. I've wrestled with that kind of thing all my life..." That sort of thing. As opposed to the inquisitor having to be the one to comfort and heal Cullen.
Again, I like the "healing" storyline, but I've done it twice already.

Here's something I've been pondering. If Cullen does leave the order, do you think he would give himself a different name to go by and maybe later explain this to the main protag?
You mean change his name from Cullen to like, Jim Bob?

To hide his identity...maybe the order will be all but pleased with him.

I do headcanon that this is why we learn his lastname, because he no longer has a title. "It's Farmer... Cullen Farmer."VampOrchid wrote...

Because I'm thinking if he leaves the order, the rest of the Templars will know of this. Will he really want to run into a group, lets say on the road, and introduce himself as Cullen. They might have heard of his leaving and may give your party a hard time because of it. It's not like they'll all know what he looks like, but carrying the name around might not be the smartest thing to do. Maybe he'll go by a last name only, and when given some story prying, he may explain why he's doing so. It would be kind of neat for us to know it's him, but he's not right out saying it right away lol.

Man, this confession... "To pass the time till Inquisition comes out I’m creating various personal canon timelines. I’ve got ten so far, all the origins (some twice) and all five DA:II romances, rivalry and friend… still a year to go. I think the wait might kill me."

I DID THE SAME THING! It was fun. XD

In one of the stories I am writing, the Order back in Kirkwall knew he may be in serious trouble for defying the Knight Commander and tried to make him leave. However, Cullen was within his rights as Knight Captain. When it comes to a mage Hawke, however, it would be an entirely different story.

Yep, I'm thinking the same thing. But him having a last name... this means he's nobility?? Or perhaps he just chooses one for himself.

"Cully man" just sounded so dirty! I felt violated! XD But yeah, I agree that is most definitely a troll confession. As Motomotogirl said, there is no fixing anybody - just being there on the path of healing is all you can do. I get tired of that crap honestly. "You want to romance him just because you want to fix him!" No...just...just no.

I guess in DAI, if he does in fact leave the order, we'd have to see under what circumstances he either leaves or is forced to leave. I really hope they use him in DAI, there's tone of potential for a great plot there on it's own.
He might leave because if of the choices the order is making. Red Lyrium ect.

My theory is that if he isn't a Templar anymore, or decided to drop the Knight Captain title he might feel it's too informal to introduce himself to the Inquisitor with his first name alone, thus using his Surname instead/as well.

I hope he isn't nobility. I like the idea of him coming from nothing/orphaned. I guess if he really does have a Surname then his family probably weren't poor or common... still, they could be dead or complete bastards, LOL.
I want him to be common, too. I don't know why.
Maybe leaving the Order is reason for him to "invent" a surname. So like R2 (perhaps jokingly lol) suggested, he might go with something like "Farmer" or "Wainwright."

I even like the idea of him being an orphan of a Templar. Don't know why think it's neat. Templars are aloud to have families, just don't have time for them. So maybe daddy was in the order and died...wow I is morbid lol
I'm all for the none nobility. Even him never finding out where he comes from is alright with me. Give him a surname from an adoptive fam, that'd be cool as well
