The eels didn't get him last time. One of his escape attempts involved swimming across Lake Calenhad and none of the the templars could catch him. It took them a week to track him down, I think. You'd think that one of them would have hopped in the rowboat that was *right there*. (Kester again... what is it with that guy?)

And yeah, that pic does crack me up. It shouldn't, but it does.

Maybe berelinde is on to something with Kester... he's either oblivious, drunk or Anders' invisibility cloak only works on Kester's eyes.

Yes, Kester has xray eyes and works for the TSA. You have to take off your shoes before boarding the canoe and he scans you. Templar armor is special because it can't be xrayed and protects your pink parts.

I seem to recall Kester saying something about how swimming in the lake wasn't safe because all the potions and whatnot that the mages dumped in there. Plus, mages tend to be a bit scrawny, so maybe the templars figure the mages can't physically swim to shore.

Oh, something else I hope they bring back in DA3, the companions giving our protagonist gifts. After running around helping them I think the least they could do is show a little thanks lol.

Here's a question:

What sort of gift do you think Cullen would give the protagonist (both as a "thank you" and a "love token")

LOL Yeah, that pic really didn't look so suggestive before I colored in his... blade. Just imagining the kind of locker room humor templars must have. Oy vey!

For gifts, I suppose I imagine stuff like Leliana's andraste swag or books on the Maker. Speaking of books... how freakin' awesome would it be for the PC to gift him with that guard romance of Varric's, Swords and Shields.

If you play as a mage, the ultimate gesture for me would be to have Cullen destroy your phylactery. Unless they're already destroyed? Otherwise, the writers should have the PC mention in passing that they like X or Y and them Cullen can gift it later. Then you'd get the "Oh! I can't believe you remember that!".

I was just thinking along the lines of "We can't be together because I'll always be a hunted mage" then "No you won't" Smash! Smoochy smoochy. Fight the good fight together then skip off into the sunset holding hands.

Yours is much more drama and I like it.

Ah, I now realize I misread! OK what would Cullen give her? Hmm, these are good ideas. I was metagaming so much in DA:O that I just looked at the gift list, and then after the fact heard the hints about what they'd like (like Lel's mom liking Andraste's grace, etc.).  But I did like that they fed from the conversations you had.

Of course, if DG is feeling nice he'll let them reunite right at the end when the protagonist is about to get her arse royally kicked. So you think Cullen's dead, then just as your protagonist is about to take the killing blow from one of the main antagonists she's saved as Cullen blocks her with his shield and starts kicking the crap out of the bad guy. *Que victory smooche*

Daaaaamn, if that was the only way a mage romance with Cullen could end, it would keep me from *ever* romancing him. I let Alistair sacrifice himself for one of my Wardens once, and swore never to go through that again. I think I cried for about ten minutes. About a bunch of pixels. No lie.

I let him sacrifice only once as well (for the achievment). I felt so awful that I had to reload and do it over.
