For me the 'issue' is that I usually just have a few hours a day to get to check the forum, which leaves me catching up and feeling like I can't really contribue to the ongoing discussion, for being late to the partyR2s Muse wrote...

I'm sorry she feels like that. I wonder if she'll pop back in to read these?
So, these kinds of accusation have been flung around before, and I'd like to engage everyone in a discussion of their expectations for a forum like this. I think given how conversational it gets, it's easy to forget that we're just a random group of people here for our own interests. All with crazy schedules, families, friends, jobs, school, what have you. While I like to self-style myself as the sheriff around these parts when discussions head into divisive territory, I am not in fact a moderator here, nor is any of us. And, no one is on 24/7.
Now something I like about the Cullen thread, besides Cullen, and why I've stayed, is that this was one of the only threads on BSN where folks talked back to me. Most threads here are just a litany of people posting a comment and no one else noticing. When there are back and forth discussions, more often than not it's to tell someone they're wrong/stupid/whatever. But usually that doesn't happen here. Folks SEE each other and talk. Now, not always, because it is basically a bulletin board sitting out in cyberspace and folks stop by as they can, contribute a few posts, and then go back to their busy lives. None of us is perfect. We do, however, try our best to be a community, which is why we've lasted this long.
But it seems it still fails sometimes. So what can we do differently? With no one moderator, should we enjoin everyone to work harder to enfranchise everyone who stops by? Should we stop being so conversational so no one feels left out? Should we abandon ship, no pun intended, and let the DA2 character threads finally die their long deserved death?"Discuss," said the non-moderator.

Get out! We'll have absolutely NO talk of Cullen in the Cullen thread! *Points to the exit*

I don't think I've ever posted in here, and have only rarely lurked, maybe a handful of times. I only really know about it indirectly through a mutual friend of a couple of the posters in here.
I happened to glance in out of curiousity, just now, and saw the recent comment about cliques and so on.
I'm an officer in a couple of private social groups that have a lot in common with this thread, and deal with occasional challenges like some of what has been described in here, but I have a very different take on it.
Personally, I'm impressed with what you guys have going on in this thread. I find it really incredible that a single, open thread in the public forums is such a dynamic, welcoming, and kind place for people to meet and greet. There's a genuine sense of camraderie and compassion in here, that has been fostered without the safeguards that we rely on in my groups.
I don't know how you guys do it, but I find it really impressive.
Some people won't find themselves a good fit for a place like this, and that's fine. Not all social dynamics happen easily or without effort, but I think the people in here have created something really special. You guys deserve this place, and I hope it carries on for a very, long time.

Aw, thanks so much for this perspective. We're definitely trying our best, so it upsets me that we've, at least in my case, inadvertently upset others. It's nice to hear that it's a universal challenge.Jeremiah12LGeek wrote...

I actually like how things are in this thread, for the most part. Things get crazy once in a while, sure. I think we're all mature enough to take a breather and realize this is can be an imperfect format (as Dirgegun said). I enjoy this thread because it's relatively organic and just flows. It's got character. My concern would be that too many 'regulations' (for lack of a better word) would stunt the overall personality and vibe here. I don't see cliques. I don't see anyone intentionally being excluded from conversations. No one is being singled out. In fact, we try very hard to welcome new comers and involve everyone.
That being said, if someone is feeling left out then it would be up to the individual to make their feelings known. For example :" Hey guys, I asked a question a few pages back and I was actually hoping to get some feedback!" rather than "Screw you, I'm taking my toys and going home!". Or for a real example, R2 just bumped her post. It's easy and no one got hurt.
This is a happy place. Weird but happy. My vote is to keep it as is as long as we can and let water find it's own level.

For what its worth...I NEVER thought this
thread is cliquish.
I think the only thing I won't probably discuss here
is Origins since alot of you guys seem to hate it with a passion so if I
have anything to talk about it will only be about DA2 and Inquisition related.
I adore Origins far more than DA2.

I must admit since DA2 had a voiced character I kind of prefer that too over a voiceless one in DAO, but it is what it is, both games had pros and cons, I still enjoyed playing them tho

I'm a bit unsulted on behalf of this thread, that someone would think that they are entitled to an answer right away even if ppl don't have one for them. I don't think that gives anyone the right to judge ppl based on that.

Okay, I stopped reading after the "writer" referred to DA2 as "Turd Heap."
Really professional writing there.

I dont think that MageTarot was necesarily "entitled" to an answer (i kind of dislike when this word gets used so loosely as an excuse for an argument or dissagreement) some ppl, perhaps even I come here because we feel that this thread is a very good source of info that's why many ppl come here and ask about stuff they may not know about and sice there ARE some veterans here he/she assument that you guys might have known the answer to the question, as it has been mentioned before, post have been overlooked and some ppl may be more sensiteve when they put some more thought in their post and then just get ignored, it does give the feeling of "left out" *sometimes* even tho that may not be the case. Some ppl are short tempered and anxious, and maybe they cant help it or they have just had a bad day and vent out. There are diffrent personalities in this thread, some crazy some good some bad some funny and so forth, personally I have learned my lesson from last time, But I still think we should support others even tho their personalities deffer from ours.
