I think that Cullen is hot and has an interesting enough backstory to warrant inclusion in future games.

I'm sorry she feels like that. I wonder if she'll pop back in to read these?

Whether she does or not, this is probably an opportunity for us.

So, these kinds of accusation have been flung around before, and I'd like to engage everyone in a discussion of their expectations for a forum like this. I think given how conversational it gets, it's easy to forget that we're just a random group of  people here for our own interests. All with crazy schedules, families, friends, jobs, school, what have you.  While I like to self-style myself as the sheriff around these parts when discussions  head into divisive territory, I am not in fact a moderator here, nor is any of us. And, no one is on 24/7.

Now something I like about the Cullen thread, besides Cullen, and why I've stayed, is that this was one of the only threads on BSN where folks talked back to me. Most threads here are just a litany of people posting a comment and no one else noticing. When there are back and forth discussions, more often than not it's to tell someone they're wrong/stupid/whatever. But usually that doesn't happen here. Folks SEE each other and talk. Now, not always, because it is basically a bulletin board sitting out in cyberspace and folks stop by as they can, contribute a few posts, and then go back to their busy lives. None of us is perfect. We do, however, try our best to be a community, which is why we've lasted this long.

But it seems it still fails sometimes. So what can we do differently? With no one moderator, should we enjoin everyone to work harder to enfranchise everyone who stops by? Should we stop being so conversational so no one feels left out? Should we abandon ship, no pun intended, and let the DA2 character threads finally die their long deserved death?

:police: "Discuss," said the non-moderator.

For me the 'issue' is that I usually just have a few hours a day to get to check the forum, which leaves me catching up and feeling like I can't really contribue to the ongoing discussion, for being late to the party ^_^ Doesn't mean I never ramble and stuff in my 2 cents anyway. Sometimes I can check up on my phone during a break at work for example, which sometimes allows me to give a quick response to something or just spam something. So I guess I might come off as 'shortish' with my answers every now and then... if so, than please know it is probably not intentional!

I actually like it that sometimes people still respond to my rambling  But of course I understand that not everyone jumps in on every post that is made. I actually really like the atmosphere here. We can all just be silly without being chased by flamethrowers... Such a difference from other parts of the forum. And the compliment that was given earlier by the person who mods other fora (sorry dear, I am bad with names and too lazy to look it up now) was really a head-up I guess :) (and I am quite a smiley-spammer too, as I'm quite aware of the various ways indirect media can be received)

Can someone refresh my memory on how the LI's for DAII were revealed?

(Don't get old - it's not pretty) Image IPB
Is this your question??? You're leaving the thread because no one answered this? I can't even answer it b/c I wasn't here when DA2 was released.

I highly doubt everyone saw that question and thought, F*** MageTarot, I ain't answering that! .... lol :innocent:
If this indeed the question. I saw it. I've been here since DAO release. Obviously I don't remember as well, so I can't refresh your memory, or mine. If a question doesn't get answered, it's most likely that ppl can't remember or don't know. Why should we reply with a "sorry don't know". We'd have a thread full of that.
MageTarot wrote...

I really hoped I was wrong with this but sadly, I am not.

I
have noticed over the past few weeks this thread has turned extremely
cliquish. It also has become apparent that people outside the "inner
circle" who comment and ask questions are pretty much ignored (I found
it particularly disheartening that a simple question I asked over 3
hours ago didn't warrant a single reply in the three full pages
afterward). On the other hand, it's not too far from the
truth that anyone from the "in" group could cough and be inundated with
numerous "OMGareyousickhopeyougetbettersoon!" posts.

Hey, it is
what it is.  And since I'm not one of the chosen few there's really no
point in coming in here anymore.  Maybe if I spent more time here it
wouldn't have been an issue. Unfortunately caring for aging parents
and enduring a brutal work schedule just doesn't give me that luxury
anymore. I come in and comment when I can but clearly it's not enough.

That
being said, there are a few people I'd like to thank for their conduct
in this forum during the time I was here. There are also a few who I'd not like to thank. But seeing as everyone pretty much knows who they are I won't name names.

Take care, have fun and thanks for all the Cullen.
Um,
what??? I didn't see your question... obviously... try to calm down.
Just repeat your question. (Or maybe no one had an answer.)

Lola had a question earlier about her video. I had no idea how to answer it, so I didn't. Sometimes that happens.

This thread is the least clique-ish and nicest one on the BSN. Just relax and repeat your question.
And the part about saying sorry to hear your sick get better soon. Sorry that to you feel that's unimportant, but most of us here know each other, for years might I add. So when one of us goes MIA, we wonder why. The person that is MIA usually comes back with a reason. Simpathy, is common and a nice gesture.

You would think that if your question didn't get answered, which happens to a lot of us, you'd either repeat it or go find the answer, come back and let us know what you found. Because it's highly possible we ourselves didn't know and would like to hear (read) your input.

The inner circle thing. Wow. There are many newcomers here, and a lot of them bring us info or just join in the convos.

I'm a bit unsulted on behalf of this thread, that someone would think that they are entitled to an answer right away even if ppl don't have one for them. I don't think that gives anyone the right to judge ppl based on that.

I don't think I've ever posted in here, and have only rarely lurked, maybe a handful of times. I only really know about it indirectly through a mutual friend of a couple of the posters in here.

I happened to glance in out of curiousity, just now, and saw the recent comment about cliques and so on.

I'm an officer in a couple of private social groups that have a lot in common with this thread, and deal with occasional challenges like some of what has been described in here, but I have a very different take on it.

Personally, I'm impressed with what you guys have going on in this thread. I find it really incredible that a single, open thread in the public forums is such a dynamic, welcoming, and kind place for people to meet and greet. There's a genuine sense of camraderie and compassion in here, that has been fostered without the safeguards that we rely on in my groups.

I don't know how you guys do it, but I find it really impressive.

Some people won't find themselves a good fit for a place like this, and that's fine. Not all social dynamics happen easily or without effort, but I think the people in here have created something really special. You guys deserve this place, and I hope it carries on for a very, long time. :)

 That was cute and thanks. I find we're pretty much open to anyone. We constantly have things going on, and we're constantly finding new info.

Aw, thanks so much for this perspective. We're definitely trying our best, so it upsets me that we've, at least in my case, inadvertently upset others. It's nice to hear that it's a  universal challenge. :)

I think some ppl get upset too easily though. We can't fix all :D

I actually like how things are in this thread, for the most part. Things get crazy once in a while, sure. I think we're all mature enough to take a breather and realize this is can be an imperfect format (as Dirgegun said). I enjoy this thread because it's relatively organic and just flows. It's got character. My concern would be that too many 'regulations' (for lack of a better word) would stunt the overall personality and vibe here. I don't see cliques. I don't see anyone intentionally being excluded from conversations. No one is being singled out. In fact, we try very hard to welcome new comers and involve everyone.

That being said, if someone is feeling left out then it would be up to the individual to make their feelings known. For example :" Hey guys, I asked a question a few pages back and I was actually hoping to get some feedback!" rather than "Screw you, I'm taking my toys and going home!". Or for a real example, R2 just bumped her post. It's easy and no one got hurt.

This is a happy place. Weird but happy. My vote is to keep it as is as long as we can and let water find it's own level.

God I love this<3

For what its worth...I NEVER thought this
thread is cliquish.

I think the only thing I won't probably discuss here
is Origins since alot of you guys seem to hate it with a passion so if I
have anything to talk about it will only be about DA2 and Inquisition related. :wizard:

I adore Origins far more than DA2.

Origins is my fave.

And I know I'm late to the game on most of these discussions, but I'm still going through the pages since the last time I was here lol. Sorry :wizard:

I must admit since DA2 had a voiced character I kind of prefer that too over a voiceless one in DAO, but it is what it is, both games had pros and cons, I still enjoyed playing them tho

Yes, this. I enjoyed playing both of them.

I'm sour to Origins for one key reason, and that is my Alistair romance envy. I did try to play a female dwarf noble but I couldn't get past Lothering. I then tried to mod the game with a male Surana, but Alistair constantly referring to my Warden as a lady was giving him a complex; he begged me to stop playing and to put him out of his misery. Poor guy.

Also, the silent protagonist, yadda yadda. Also, the fact that I played DA2 first and LOOOOOOOOOOOVED it. And then DA:O is so different.

Different but good. I definitely enjoyed it. Zevran x Tabris is my canon pair. And yet I will probably make a Dalish Warden for the Keep. I just didn't feel Mahariel fit with Zevran as well. He was more worldly. He would've done better with Alistair. But my Tabris was very wide-eyed, and he was fascinated by the more worldly Zevran. They made a cute couple.

Of course a lot of that I had to invent myself because it's just not in the game.

Regarding this thread in general...

I would change nothing about this thread. I've never had my feelings hurt in this thread. I've gotten huffy in this thread but that is my issue, not someone else's.

About ignoring posts... I've never ignored someone's post.

I've read a post and didn't have an answer, so I didn't respond.

Or I've read a post and forgotten to respond to it, if I did have an answer.

Or many times I never saw the post because the thread does move fast... hey, it may not seem to move fast to some folks, but it does to me. I'm always up and about. When I'm not up and about, I'm doing a million things online, and I skim the thread. Yes, I'm a skimmer. Especially when someone writes a long post. Like this one. I go skim crazy.

Also my team lost so I'm so not in a good mood right now  Today would not be a great day to spam the thread with muscular elves.

I dont think that MageTarot was necesarily  "entitled" to an answer (i kind of dislike when this word gets used so loosely as an excuse for an argument or dissagreement) some ppl, perhaps even I come here because  we feel that this thread is a very good source of info that's why many ppl come here and ask  about stuff they may not know about and sice there ARE some veterans here  he/she assument that you guys might have known the answer to the question, as it has been mentioned before, post have been overlooked and some ppl may be more sensiteve when they put some more thought in their post and then just get ignored, it does give the feeling of "left out"  *sometimes* even tho that may not be the case. Some ppl are short tempered and anxious, and maybe they cant help it or  they have just had a bad day and vent out. There are diffrent personalities in this thread, some crazy some good some bad some funny and so forth, personally I have learned my lesson from last time, But I still think we should support others even tho their personalities deffer from ours.

I have no problem supporting ppl who are different then myself. Getting short with a group and basically storming out does give the empression of some sort of entitlement. Posts do sometimes get overlooked, and I get all the emotions and feeling behind it. But the big blurb of an accusation wasn't needed.

This group is more then friendly, and most if not all of us are more then considerate and open minded.B)

However, it's not up to the entire thread of ppl to make sure that every question goes answered or that every post isn't ignored. I don't want to trample on anyones feelings, well I'm sure no one here wants to. :P But if the poster really feels upset/ignored or really wants something answered, it's up to that person to make in known. In a respectable manner.

Posting a gif is the same as posting any image; a gif is an image (like jpg, etc.). The usual {img}gif{/img} thing.
