I must admit since DA2 had a voiced character I kind of prefer that too over a voiceless one in DAO, but it is what it is, both games had pros and cons, I still enjoyed playing them tho

Yes, this. I enjoyed playing both of them.

I'm sour to Origins for one key reason, and that is my Alistair romance envy. I did try to play a female dwarf noble but I couldn't get past Lothering. I then tried to mod the game with a male Surana, but Alistair constantly referring to my Warden as a lady was giving him a complex; he begged me to stop playing and to put him out of his misery. Poor guy.

Also, the silent protagonist, yadda yadda. Also, the fact that I played DA2 first and LOOOOOOOOOOOVED it. And then DA:O is so different.

Different but good. I definitely enjoyed it. Zevran x Tabris is my canon pair. And yet I will probably make a Dalish Warden for the Keep. I just didn't feel Mahariel fit with Zevran as well. He was more worldly. He would've done better with Alistair. But my Tabris was very wide-eyed, and he was fascinated by the more worldly Zevran. They made a cute couple.

Of course a lot of that I had to invent myself because it's just not in the game.

I do agree that Alistair being attracted to one specific gender ONLY, was a little unfair to the other players as I do ocasionally like to play as a male character myself,  and want to experience diffrent type of romances weather is with the same sex or diffrent, I think that Zevran does pair  better with a male protagonist then with a female one idk why but it just feels right for  him, that said,  even tho there has  been mentiones of.. some form of restrictions between the romances, I hope that gender restrictions are not one of them.... altho I also am opposed to racial restrictions, but  I suppose in a weard twisted unfair way it does kinda sorta makes sense in the DA world.. altho I hate to admit it....

:pinched: Yes you're supposed to use brackets. I used the other ones as an example.

Is the gif uploaded to a host server like photobucket? Just stealing from google images or something won't work sometimes.

Holy cow. I just wrote an essay only for chrome to "have an unexpected problem" and shut down.

Okay, short version. I'm busy like crazy, so lurking.

MageTarot, I get your drift. It's like a workplace where someone says something that everyone ignores, hurtful. And this is an internet forum, but it's also more. We're not friends. I wouldn't lend you guys money. But I do care about the people here and I enjoy what you have to say. I want to hear about daily stuff and Cullen stuff and personal stuff and DAI stuff. We're "friends", I guess, and that includes you so I hope you'll stay. We'll miss posts, but there's no ill will I promise (I once sent a rather dramatic pm wondering if I had killed someone's kittens or something. Turned out she'd just missed my posts).

R2, we just try to be friendly and to include everyone. We'll not do it perfectly, I'm sure, but then hopefully we'll get the chance to talk it out and fix it.

I have no problem supporting ppl who are different then myself. Getting short with a group and basically storming out does give the empression of some sort of entitlement. Posts do sometimes get overlooked, and I get all the emotions and feeling behind it. But the big blurb of an accusation wasn't needed.

This group is more then friendly, and most if not all of us are more then considerate and open minded.B)

However, it's not up to the entire thread of ppl to make sure that every question goes answered or that every post isn't ignored. I don't want to trample on anyones feelings, well I'm sure no one here wants to. :P But if the poster really feels upset/ignored or really wants something answered, it's up to that person to make in known. In a respectable manner.

Well he/she did kind of let us know about it, in his/her own way weather that was respectable or not.  I do agree that storming out is not the best way to handle a situation as I, myself have gone through that before, but I suppose that in the "heat of the monent" ppl do tent to react... dare I say irrational? And then later on they might  feel bad about their actions.

This is from that article that was linked to, and they put up a big quote from Mark Darrah:

The Xbox
One and PS4 are out, and the dust is starting to settle at the start of
a new console cycle. As a result, now is a good time for us to start
talking to you, our fans, more about where Dragon Age: Inquisition is at.

What have we been working on? Dragon Age: Inquisition has come a
long way in the last three months. Today, I'm going to share with you
some of what we have been up to since PAX. That way, when we dig in
deeper a little later on, you will be up to speed.

You may have heard some talk about a "Holiday Build" for Dragon
Age: Inquisition. So, what is this? These types of builds go way back in
BioWare's history. Effectively, they are builds we create around the
holiday break that are packaged in a way that allows the team, and other
parts of BioWare, to play the game in as complete of a state as we can
get it.

In this case, our Holiday build is focused on these areas:
1. The main storyline completely playable from beginning to end: This allows the story to be experienced in an interactive state, and lets us get pacing and spacing right.
2. All of the gameplay systems working together: This means that you can experience the game as it is intended to be experienced, with each feature feeding into another.
3. Starting VO recording for large parts of the game (More on this later).
4. Getting music in (More on this later).
5. Making sure that each class has a distinctive feel: Making sure that the party is a necessary and exciting part of combat (More on this later).
6. Getting our tech locked down: For example, here is a tarnish shader going in.
7. Getting a lot more content a lot further along: Things like Trees, Dead things, Outfits, Faces and, of course, areas:
Areas form a huge part of the content in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
It is very important to me that the game cover a large variety of
locations. Not only does it expand the possibilities of our
storytelling, it also gives us an opportunity to show a lot of different things. In a game that places a lot of emphasis on discovery, this is very crucial.

Part of this process is about getting the areas into a state where they can be fully critiqued. Let me show you an area shot going
through this process (can you guess the area?) As you can see, an
initial screenshot is critiqued and altered to show the goal for the
area. This gives the level artist the specific direction needed to take
the area to the next level (so to speak).

I'm skiffing off of a lot of topics here today, and I promise we
will be back to talk in more detail about some of these topics. For now,
though, I wanted to restart the conversation.

Hopefully you like this format. If you have any specific topics you would like us to cover in greater detail, let us know.
Thanks, and happy holidays!
Mark

The thing that I find interesting about this quote is the part about starting VO recording for large parts of the game. I thought that the VO would have been finished or nearly finished by now.

Edit: Sorry for the formatting on that... It looked normal when I copied it into the text box!

Also, just watched the gameplay video for DAI again, and I am super excited to play Inquisition. I haven't bought any other games because 1. I don't have time to play games right now, lol, and 2. I only want to play Inquisition, and I WILL make time to play it!

Oh, and I prefer fewer LI's rather than more. They tend to get more content and be more integral to the plot. Playersexual or not doesn't bother me, if they do have restrictions however I hope it's class/choices and not gender/sexuality. I don't imagine I would be a totally different person if I fancied ladies, however I would be if I fancied someone who murders people for money. Cullen works as a homosexual or as a straight man for me, he could be either. Can't see him getting it on with a blood mage though.

Agree; can't see him with a blood mage. Though I have to point out that ANY character should "work" as gay or straight or bi. A character's (i.e. Cullen's) personality and characterization shouldn't change based on his/her sexuality.

Story line might, but that's different.

So like Steve Cortez could've had a dead wife and he'd be the same character.

That's not to say that some people weren't excited and rightfully so to have a gay man (and a lesbian woman) in the game, and I totally get that.

On the class-based restrictions, I'm not sure that I could see Cullen having relations with any kind of mage, to be honest. After what happened at the Ferelden Circle, and then what happened in Kirkwall with all the blood mages, and Anders blowing up the Chantry... I don't think Cullen could ever let himself get close to a mage character, except to watch them like a hawk.

And I can't see Varric getting involved with any other race besides a dwarf, sadly.

Yeah, and I can only really see Leliana with a female Warden. That's what I don't like about the way Origins handled things, that straight/bisexual players/characters got a choice, whereas gay players/characters did not enjoy that luxury. I still think that 2 straight, 2 bi and 2 gay LIs is the best way to go in an ideal world, but playersexual is a decent alternative (until my rise to power).

Race and class restrictions is something I get, but I can't see it being implemented without one combination having more LI options than another, which at the end of the day isn't fair and something I can't really support. The best thing to do is just alter the romance. Maybe make a mage work harder to romance their templar LI or a human have to have a higher approval to have their flirts accepted by their elven LI.

You could add that to literally any sentence and the sentence becomes super bad ass by default.

Yeah, just using Cullen as an example cause he's easy. Did I use myself as an example as well or did I dream I did? I wouldn't really be different if I was a lesbian, I don't think, but if I chose a guy who values power over doing what's right I would be. Morrigan falling for a boy scout cheapens her character far more in my eyes than her liking girls OR boys. Just my feelings on the subject.

Well, people change and the writers will do as they please. ^_^ It would need some explaining, certainly.

I would actually love a mage romance ending in tragedy, but that's because I don't think getting the tragic outcome equals getting shafted. Cullen trying with a mage only to end it because he just can't do it. Or, you know, cutting you down after a bad dream about the incident in Ferelden.

Oh, wow, I'm late to the conversation. I just woke up an hour or so ago, and I haven't had my coffee yet, so I'm trying really hard not to fall asleep at the keyboard... -_-

Anyways, I'd like to add my two cents and say that I never really saw this thread as "cliquish" before. If anything, this is the least cliquish thread I've ever seen, and that (along with Cullen) is what attracted me here.

I used to lurk on this thread for a long time, until I finally made my Origin account and joined in on the conversation. I never regretted that for a second. You guys were really welcoming and kind (which can't be said for a lot of threads on BSN). This thread makes me feel safe enough to truly say what my opinion on a topic is, without the fear of getting my head ripped off like in the Inquisition forums. I don't think there was ever a time where I felt unwelcome or unwanted here... and I'm sorry if I ever made you feel that way, MageTarot. I try to be as nice and as funny as possible on the internet because there's no better feeling than the one you get when you make someone smile. ^_^ (Wow that sounded really cheesy, but it's true. :P) I truly hope I wasn't the reason MageTarot left...

I really hope that one day she will come back. And, when she does, I will try to be as welcoming as possible. I don't want to lose any fellow Cullen fans because I came across as rude or something. So, please come back, MageTarot, I'm sorry. :crying:

And I feel like I need to counteract the seriousness of my post by adding a GIF... because I am the GIF queen. ^_^
