I can't help but feel like Bioware would have been a little more careful with their wording if it was referring to the Inquisitor, though. Perhaps wording it in a way that 'he' wasn't needed at all, even if that meant settling for 'they'..

Hmm... that makes sense too. Plus, why would they refer to the Inquisitor as a "he," when we can certainly play as a female in the next game?

I agree. That's definitely one of the holes in my so-called "theory". Why refer to a "he" when the Inquisitor could be a "she"?

Hmmmm, what about the OGB?

Thing with the OGB is that Mr.Gaider has said that the OGB doesn't exist if our Warden didn't do the Dark Ritual. There's no way that Morrigan would fall pregnant through other means...

You know, I was bored for some reason, and was looking up the quotes that Sandal says about the sky splitting and the one where Flemeth talks about the leap and then Morrigans new quote.

Anyways, just speculating here.

"One day the magic will come back - all of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see."

So obviously, there's a tear in the veil. We saw one in the sky. There's that part. The magic will come back, all of it. That leads me to think that mages will have either more powers. That maybe Tervinter will be on the attack. Or that all of the demons and spirits are really suppose to be part of Thedas...hmmm.

But then there's the he will rise part. The Maker? Maybe he's not who we've been told he is?

So this 'prophecy' really matches up with Flemeth's speech and Morrigans. I know this has been debated before, but it's bugging the crap out of me lol.

Maybe Templars get some sort of 'magical' abilities because maybe everyone's suppose to have it. And aren't the Dragons suppose to be some form of Old Gods?

Hello! Delurking for a moment to jump into the fray. ;)

Everyone tends to think that that the "he" in Sandal's prophecy relates to some big omnipotent entity (be it a bad guy or the Maker). But if you think about it, magiccoming back, shadows parting and skies opening wide are all not necessarily bad things (they just sound quite terrifying taken together!). A wild theory, but but the "he" in the prophecy could refer to the Inquisitor?

I'm probably wrong, but it's quite fun to speculate nonetheless. :)

(Now back to the shadows!)

HUH!  Interesting point! It could well be... although my "the Inquisitor can be he or she" spidey sense of outrage is tingling. LOL

And, welcome to the thread, stay delurked a while! :D

For my drive-by two cents, I can't help but think that the "everyone shall be as they were" comment is about the Tranquil and that the breach in the Fade means that perhaps the limitations on magic are gone. Perhaps everyone can do magic sometimes when the Veil is gone. Like in the time before the Veil that Yavana talked about.

Anyhoo, back to getting ready for work. Have a great day, Cullen thread!

Ah, fair enough - I wasn't aware that the great Mr Gaider had made such a statement. :)

Was still a completely legit theory, mind! I certainly would have been open to it being a possibility if Mr. Gaider hadn't said that. :wizard:

Honestly, it's sorta hard to speculate. The obvious big speculation subject is the Maker, but who knows? It could mean one of the elven Gods or something. After all, Fen'Harel the Dread Wolf is said to have sealed the Gods and the Forgotten Ones away, so perhaps the veil tear has something to do with their escape from that prison or something.

Or could even be Fen'Harel being a tricksy jerk again.

Or, you know, could have nothing to do with the religions at all, because I could see Bioware wanting to keep the ambiguous.

Fen'Harel is totally my favourite of the elven Gods, not gonna lie.

I'm going to pretend that the "he" Sandal was referring to is actually himself, but he doesn't realize it. Somehow all that power packed into the mind of an apparent simpleton intrigues me to death.

Ah, Aladdin!

Brain, what are you doin' not remembering that?!

Also ironic that I would mention Batty, given they had the same voice actor. *not funny*

I agree, much as I would love to have the whole Black/golden city/darkspawn issue explained, DG has said before that they'll leave religion as a subject of faith. But still... Were the old gods just dragons or not?????? Inquiring minds want to know?? Lol

If I'm going to quote myself, I need to fix that typo.

*keep that ambiuous

There, that's better.

I want to assume that the Old Gods are more than just dragons, because they DO give the darkspawn direction? I mean, I suppose a normal dragon could, because there's animals that work in packs and such like wolves and lions, but the Archdemons definitely seem more than just that??

Unless, it's, you know, revealed that the archdemons aren't the Old Gods and that's just Chantry properganda. Man, though, would people pee their pants if they thought the last Old God had been defeated years ago and that there would be no more Blights... and woops, what's this? Suddenly a new Blight on their doorstep.

Speaking of Blights, what do you think the Grey Wardens will do once all of the Blights are over? After the last two (assuming there aren't more than two Blights in Thedas' future) archdemons are dead, will they keep recruiting just in case, or just give up entirely?

I think they would give up, but they might "preserve the tradition" just in case something happens, but if the blights are indeed over I dont see why ppl should keep risking their lives for something that may not happen anymore...

Damn, I wanted to make a joke and repeat what Duncan said to the Warden in the fade dream, but I can't remember the exact words.

Realistically, though...

I imagine at least some of them will make power plays/try and use the Warden name for something else. I mean that's going on now, so...

Honestly, I have no idea. orz

I imagine the Wardens would still be around as long as there are Darkspawn, though. Once they're eradicated...

Hmm, hmm...

I was wondering about something, I was playing DAO and I noticed there are some dwarfs darkspawn that have magic, I thought that dwarfs cant have magic, or is that some ability that comes along with being a darkspawn regardless of the race?

Yeah I always thought that was odd too. But I don't think we've seen another Emissary be a Genlock since Origins, so maybe they've retconned it to be more with the lore?
Edit for evil laugh at Dirge!

I imagine it was seen as darkspawn magic, though I wonder if we can dismiss Genlock Emissaries since the redesigns? Genlocks have a very different role and design now than they did in DA:O.

Edit for typos and to mention that I've been ninja'd.

Checking the codex on genlocks, they suggest they use a kind of blood magic.

CRAZY TIN FOIL HAT WITH NO REAL EVIDENCE SPECULATION
All magic is just a kind of blood magic. It's just the vast amounts of lyrium near the dwarves that gives a little permanent templar-esque dampening on their abilities.

Now rip my crazy theory to shreds!

Were there any Genlocks in DA2 at all? I dont remember seeing any just human sized darkspawn and ogres. but I guess since you guys said that they have been redesigned they might not be dwarfs anymore witch is a bit weird, not to see that, since dwarfs roam the deeproads all the time, plus they take dwarven women to be broodmothers

Yeah, there were some genlocks in DAII.

They look completely different from their DAO design. More... scary, IMO. Too muscular.
