Well my feelings weren't hurt; I just went to bed lol

I obviously don't mind people expressing their feelings, but don't tell me I was being offensive when I wasn't. I can't accept that we've reached a point when we can't say if we think a character is ugly.

That's pretty cray.

And obviously saying Merrill is anorexic is offensive. Or saying Aveline is manly. Once you get specific, you're tearing down women's bodies, trying to say what you think the ideal female body is, which is what the media does to us constantly.

I seriously doubt I grievously offended all mustached individuals with that post. If I did, then maybe they should think about shaving that mustache. Just saying.

I'm sorry if I said anything or worded it in a way that made anyone sound like the 'bad guy', as that wasn't what I meant at all! I just meant that I would like to see people use less harsh terms when it comes to talking about what they don't find physically appealing. Just dismissing someone as 'all out ugly' is just really uncomfortable for me to read.

Admittedly how MMG retaliated after what I said, and then dismissed my wanting to avoid feeling uncomfortable as 'silly' hurt more than anything else concerning the matter. Though I'm sure she didn't mean to come across in such a manner, because she seems like an ultimately pleasant person, but it's difficult not to read it as such, especially when I wasn't expecting such an aggressive response because I thought I had succeeded in wording what I said in a way that wouldn't come across as nasty?

But asking people to stop calling characters ugly is unrealistic. If that bothers you, I think you're just going to have to put up with it. That is like pulling a Pee Wee Herman and saying we can't say the word "blue" today in this thread or something.

Also, I'm definitely a pleasant person, but not always nice. Think of me as Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock. Except not remotely as smart.

I don't thik it's healthy for the thread to continue it much; if you wanna PM me that's fine ^_^ Now I have to go take a shower and get ready for work :crying:

I don't think there's any point in taking it to PM, I said what I wanted to before and you've made your opinion clear. I apologise for saying anything in the first place, because it seems I came across in a way I didn't mean to. So I apologise for the disruption. Sorry again!

So today I've learned if you call a woman ugly you're tearing her down emotionally and conforming to the media's views on traditional beauty which is highly detrimental to the female gender and their constant struggle for equal rights.

But its totes cool to so what you want about men and their looks.

I've also learned that half this thread is too sensitive and the other half has some kind of mean people in it.

Edited to take out one of the sixteen times I said the word "half".

Sigh. Not "ugly." The examples I used were "anorexic" and "manly."

OOOOOH okay, ugly is the preferrable term here. What about vile? Gross? Appalling? "Not much to look at?" Homely?
Can I use those?

I'm dropping this :)  Sorry to the rest of the read! And to Dirgegun, too. I was snarky; must have been something about your original message that tipped me off. Who knows; not your fault. It's my problem :)

Sorry for derailing the wonderful Cullen thread, everyone <3 I'll try not to let it happen again. All insane ranting will be confined to the DA:I forums... where it belongs!

...The whole thread should watch Markiplier or any other youtubers play Outlast to make them feel better! Because, you know, watching people get the bajeebus scared out of them is pretty amusing. At least I think so, but I'm kind of a meany about that kind of thing. And too cowardly to play horror games myself.

I'll stand in that line!

Someone needs to manip that unicorn so that Cullen is riding it side saddle with long flowy hair.

I have a question that I'd love to hear everyone's (differing) opinions about:

You'll have to forgive me, though, if this has been asked and answered recently -- I've been only semi-lurking for a few months now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've all discussed to death (and have some pretty intriguingly different ideas of) what Cullen's personality will be like if he's in DA:I or any future DA installments (novels, whatever) -- but what sort of character do YOU actually think would be the ideal partner for him?

Obviously if he's a romance option, he's going to fall in love with your character as long as you're not making some very key decisions that he'd hate because LOLgamemechanics. But if you had to write the perfect LI for Cullen, what would he or she be like?

Diversity wins with these answers, btw -- nobody is wrong and everyone is allowed to disagree. :)

(if we have discussed this already, do me a solid and give me at least the quick versions of your answers because I'm genuinely interested!) :D

Hmmm... that's interesting, brush. On one hand I'm thinking someone with a strong will and moral views to mirror his own (for the most part). Someone with the ability to go toe to toe with him. But then part of me thinks that maybe he'd have that desire to be the physical protector type. I suppose that you could have all of that in one dashing package. S/he wouldn't necessarily need to be able to wield a sword.

PS - that gif is beautiful! lol

I can't even WATCH horror films :innocent: Play a game? Nuh-uh. NOPE.

Although watching other people get scared might be amusing  I've watched a few videos of people playing a game called Amensia; those were great xD

Oh, I like this question!

If Cullen is a companion and LI I'll probably end up romancing him with multiple Inquisitors and my plans are likely to change, but the idea that popped into my head when I first saw the question? Well, there's two: a female mage, because I'm terrible to my favourites, but she has no personality yet. I haven't decided beyond female mage. And... a Male human rogue, snarky, impulsive, makes light of his own feels but is serious as ever over his companions' feels, better leader than he can seem, is a sweetie but doesn't like that rumour gettin' around...

...I... I think that means my male human rogue will be a Type B tsundere.

I definitely wish I had more time to let this one marinate and come up with a great answer. Posting between classes... :?

I agree that someone with strong convictions would challenge him in a good way, and also earn his respect in a way. That's why I like the pairing Cullen x Anders even though it makes no sense. Believe it or not, I also like the pairing Cullen x Cassandra, although I feel like she would dismiss him and maybe even actually hurt him. So perhaps her decisive tendencies are a step above Anders'?

Someone intelligent and perhaps manipulative, and yet still dedicated to his/her cause. Cullen x Leliana I could see.

I could not see him with someone who would completely disrespect him or insult him, even playfully. So no Cullen x Morrigan.

Someone who inspires his protectiveness, which is where my insane Cullen x Alain obsession stems from. Yet I don't like the thought of him with Bethany because she just seems so innocent and young and it makes me uncomfortable.

In the end I guess it's not necessarily true to say there's just "one type" of person for everyone. Maybe he doesn't have an "ideal" love interest? But those are the qualities that I feel would suit him best.

Even for a hard-liner like Cassandra, perhaps there is a hidden vulnerability about her that would let him "take care" of her, to some extent. Because that's what he kind of needs to do.
