@VampOrchid If they have mini trailers like that with our companions (specially if Cullen is one of them) that would be AWESOME

Yeah it use to be awesome. All companions had their own little page, accept Shale. Even some of the Darkspawn and the Archdemon did.

Hmmm....so there was Alistair, Morrigan, Sten, Zev, Oghren, Wynne, Leliana, Dog and then they had a few of the Darkspawn and the Archdemon.

Then you were able to click on a Warden's Origin story and you got a little teaser trailer for each Origin. That's how I knew I wanted to play as a mage my first go. Thus landing me with Alistair as king my first play through and me all wth just happened lol

Edit : So yeah, I was plenty surprised when all was said and done lol

They took down the DAO and DA2 pages from DragonAge.com some time before last E3. Pity really. You'd think the would have left them up as a subsection even though they started promoting DAI. I really liked the DAO page.

Unless you haven't followed them for a certain amount of time you can't. You can however reblog their post and write an answer then put their username in a tag. Or send them a private message by using ask or fan mail.

You can't really reply to someone whether you're following them or not. It's possible for them to ask a question, and in that format, you can leave an answer/comment. I'm not sure how to do that.

Vamp, I would send an "ask" like she said. It's very easy to find someone's ask. just add /ask to the end of their url. For example, my tumblr is:

http://motomotogirl.tumblr.com/

So to send me an ask, just go to:

http://motomotogirl.tumblr.com/ask

Simple as that.

I get a little speech bubble next to the reblog button on posts belonging to people I have followed long enough. There I can reply directly to the post and you can read it by opening post notes.

Edit: piccy not mine, random stuff I found by googling

Intriguing:

PatrickWeekes: "ProTip: When writing copy for promotional video, ask self, "Is what I have better than if we just played 'Carry on My Wayward Son' over it?"

AarynFlynn: "The @dragonage Inquisition team is integrating the latest drop of @FrostbiteEngine today. Wish them luck!"

It also depends on the poster's settings. There are two toggles, "Allow replies from people you follow" and "Allow replies from people who have been following you for more than two weeks" that are switched on by default, but can be disabled if the poster chooses. If somebody doesn't want replies, there isn't much you can do about it.

I did not know about this! Thanks! FYI my "speech bubble" icon is located at the BOTTOM of each person's post for some reason, not the top.

Fact: There is nothing on planet Earth that cannot be improved by adding "Carry on My Wayward Son".

So if we don't (maker forbid) get Cullen as a companion and LI, who would you choose in his place?

I've been thinking about this, and my answer is... I don't know. I've already been doing some planning for my Inquisitor's personality - I'm not sure she'd be a good romantic match with Varric (although they'd definitely be friends,) and the other characters I just don't know enough about to say for sure. My characters tend to have minds of their own, so if Cullen turns out not to be an option I'd probably just wait and see who she had good chemistry with during the game itself, unless something released in the meantime about a particular LI's personality or backstory ended up unexpectedly jumping out at me.

brushyourteeth wrote...

But if you had to write the perfect LI for Cullen, what would he or she be like?

I'd pair Cullen with someone who had seen enough of the world to have a realistic outlook, but who also still had some optimism and enough idealism to believe in trying to make the world a better place.

I'd put him with an LI who was honest and straightforward, and wouldn't play mind games. I would see Cullen preferring a genuine difference of opinion over manipulation by far at this point.

Cullen would need someone he could trust completely, but also someone who would make him feel confident enough that he could trust himself too rather than using that person for a crutch. The right person would make Cullen stronger and give him more faith in his own mind and conscience, rather than making him more dependent on them.

I think in the long run, he'd work best with someone who was his intellectual and combat equal, rather than someone he would just have to look after all the time. A relationship that's one-sided gets old. Cullen's naturally protective, so I'd pair him with someone who could appreciate that but who would also be protective of him in return.

I think he'd need someone with a sense of humor, but also who treated him with mutual respect - i.e. laughing with him but not putting him down or saying things that were just completely at his expense.

I'd see him doing best with someone who was capable of deeper conversations as well as just joking around, though. Party banter is all well and good, but at this point Cullen has got to have some serious questions about religion, duty, honor, his place in the world... and I think he'd need someone who was willing to go there and discuss the tough subjects, not just treat everything like a big joke. His partner would need to have a good sense of when it's the time to be funny and when it's the time to be serious, or else I think Cullen might feel like he wasn't being listened to.

On the mage/templar thing, I'd ideally pair him with someone who was relatively moderate. Cullen has seen the worst of both sides, so I'd see him having a lot of friction with someone who thought all mages were sweet innocent little bunnies or someone who thought all mages were vermin to be exterminated. I see him getting along best with someone who acknowledged that mages could be a danger to themselves or others but who didn't advocate templars becoming monsters themselves in the name of maintaining safety. Someone who could see both sides, basically - as he's been forced to do himself.

I could definitely see Cullen living with an "agree to disagree" arrangement, though, so I'd see the personality traits and trustworthiness as more important than any shared political/religious/social position.

(Disclaimer: Obviously all just opinion, even when not explicitly phrased as such. :))

When I read that, my immediate thought was that they just finished recording a bunch of dev diaries for upcoming promotionals, and I actually said "Sweeeeeeet!" aloud at work. Fortunately, I've got an office now instead of a cubicle, so it didn't look like some kind of bizarre gopher farm, but the people in the corridor now think I'm insane.[smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

A differences-between-workplaces thing here: I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even get a second glance for that where I work. ;)

I have such mixed feelings about the possibility of more than 4 LIs.

On the one hand, more choice! And more choice is good!

But on the other hand, I wouldn't want to sacrifice the depth of the romances to have more of them, and since romance is not the writers' primary focus (nor should it be,) the more the number of romances increases, the less effort can be devoted to each of them.

For an extreme example, take Skyrim. I think Skyrim is a fantastic game overall so please don't take this as hating on it, but the romances are a very weak point. You can pretty much marry anything except a dog or a tree stump... but any given romance is about as deep as a teaspoon. What you gain in variety, you lose in the attention paid to developing any individual LI's romance story.

Now, I don't see Bioware taking a swerve that drastic. I'm sure that any romances they include will be well-thought-out arcs with fleshed out and compelling characters. I'm just wary about whether the team could, say, meet the same standard set with four romances if they were trying to do six of them.

Choices always have to be made about how to allocate time and resources, and I'm not sure extra romances would be the allocation I'd personally choose. Oh me of little faith, right?

@TreeHuggerHannah, do you mean more than 4 LIs as 4 women and 4 men, or 2 women and 2 men for a total of 4? I realize that they're all playersexual, but I count the genders seperately anyway.

Total of four, i.e. if it's more than previous games.

@TreeHugger

There's always been four. So I think you mean anything more then that.

DAO There was Alistair, Zeveran, Leliana and Morrigan

DAA Merill, Anders, Fenris and Isabella, also Seb

So I'm assuming you mean more then that

Huh, Vamp, I'm having the same prob. On both FF and Chrome.

I was just going to suggest to you installing xkit for tumblr, which makes many of the things they're talking about easier, like one click reply and things like that. By and large, for me, the main different between replying with the word bubble button and reblogging someone is whether I want to post just for the poster or post also for my followers. Both show up in the notes on the post, but only the reblog shows up on your followers' blogs. If you use someone's ask function, like MMG suggested, that's like a PM just to that user and totally private.

I can't quote or edit either. Weird.

Anyways, @TreeHuggerHannah I'm kind of worried about that too. Do we want more romances, at the expense of them becoming less heartfelt? I really hope they don't sacrifice quality for quantity.

But I'm hoping, since they were given more time to develop DAI, that they had more time to devote to making the romances more compelling. And more numerous. Because, to be perfectly honest, I would love to have more LI options.

It's not just the edit/quote that seems to be on the fritz, I can't use the standard form either...

Anyway, ganked from the twitter thread:

User @BioMarkDarrah Ah, sorry, I meant for the different races or classes! Inquisitor backstory will influence my decision greatly.

Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
.@user ah, good question.
It would spoil some early game stuff.
What do you think @Mike_Laidlaw ?

Of all the concerns I have about DAI, satisfying romance isn't even on the list. I have never played a BioWare game where I have not found one or more of the romances perfectly suited to my tastes. In DA2, fully 3 out of 5 appealed to me, and I had a hard time choosing just one, which may explain my plethora of final saves. They know how much fans love the romances. I seriously doubt that they would sacrifice quality for quantity. And you know that David Gaider, secret romantic that he is, would rather do without them entirely than do them like Syrim. I'm confident that if they do expand the number to 6, they will not do so at the expense of quality.

Personally, I'm in favor of the 2/2/2 model. I've got nothing against the all-bi model. Far from it! But having 6 romances would give me more reasons to replay. Replayability is my gaming benchmark. Usually, when I do get up on a soapbox about something, it's because I fear that limiting roleplaying choices will limit my ability to enjoy the game across a multitude of playthroughs, so I would never complain about a 2 straight/2 bi/2 gay model that would let me play the game that many more times.

I can't quote either. How annoying.

Is there any chance we could post our tumblr IDs again? I didn't get a lot of them when we did them last, and I'd like to follow some blogs. I'm on tumblr more than the BSN these days.

If anybody's curious, my tumblr is the same as my BSN tag: berelinde. I've also got a DA-themed food blog, dragonagerecipes, that publishes 3 times a week or so.

I wouldn't either... unless the 1/1/1 format for the guys goes something like this: straight Cullen / bi Varric / gay Elfy Mcsmuggins.

Heads would roll. *insert rolly eyes smiley*
