I see what you did there . . .

I must say, I became quite a hoarder in Skyrim. My house in Whiterun is full of junk I couldn't bring myself to sell that I found on my journey.

Elder Scrolls and DA would be a great combo! I've always wished that my PC in Bethesda games could talk like in Bioware games. Taking the best bits from both and melding them together - it'll be my nerdy dream come true! :-D

Agreed! I find myself getting lonely in Skyrim with no one to really "talk" to. (I know that sounds weird)

Have you seen this hoarding item? I laughed pretty good on this:

You know, sadly, I couldn't get into skyrim, altho granted I never got very far. But I got so motion sick, even in third person mode, that I could only play for short periods. :( I should probably give it another go.

With those caveats, I hope DA3 doesn't suddenly become a skyrim clone. Of course, it can't hurt to be inspired by some of skyrim's apparent successes, but I do think DA has its own strengths with its more guided story-driven approach over an open world.

So long as they don't sacrifice story and character depth/interaction for it. I'd be gutted if we had all this vast open space to explore but are stuck with companions that have all the personality of a cabbage lol. Dragons Dogma was disappointing in that way, your pawns would repeat the same 5 lines over and over again lol.
I actually got the impression that the MotA DLC was experimenting a little with a more open world feel. Either way, if they're going to do it I'd like to see the city of Orlais to be expansive with a rich decadent atmosphere, lavish decoration and full of life (kinda like the Assassins Creed games.)

I think that with most games after playing DAO and DA2. I find myself thinking 'this game would be much better if I had a group of people with me'....

I was thinking the same thing.... I love an open world. That being said, I want a rich deep story. I want a DA:O feel with deeply fleshed out characters that I can get attached to but if I see a mountain in the distance that looks interesting, I'd like to be able to get to it. It's a tall order. When all is said and done, I will always chose story over visuals. It's the reason I can replay DA but have to put Skyrim away for a while. It gets stale just dumpster diving.

I couldn't get into it either, I'm right at the end before the final boss but the game never really captured my attention in the same way that Bioware (in this case Dragon Age) does, don't get my wrong Skyrim was gorgeous to look at but I like character interaction in games like this and the companionship aspect that the NPC's we could drag along for the journey in Skyrim sadly lacked. Even the Witcher 2 with its smaller areas but beautiful environments didn't cut it for me, the characters did have more personality but it just didn't have that certain something that so far I've only been able to find in Bioware games.

Yup. It's like going to the movies or out to dinner with a party of one. I prefer traveling buddies to share the experience with.

Witcher 2 was pretty but I never finished because it didn't keep me engaged.

I like all of the options in skyrim and all the secret things that I can stumble on. Though from playing oblivion and then playing skyrim I think it was a huge improvement. In terms of character developement I find skyrim to be lacking, they did try to do that in the DLC they recently released. I like the DA universe for the character development, while I think an open world would be cool, I think I like the set-up they already have they don't need to have an open world to make a good game...

Really? Was that DLC any good? Did it make much of a difference or did the characters still feel dull?

I personally feel that the DA games don't need a huge open world, all they have to do is make the environments more interesting and let us explore and interact with those environments a little more. I mean, the Circle Tower in DA:O was huge and very detailed, if they go back to that sort of thing then that would be awesome. Mind you, if the story and companions are amazing then I don't really mind what the environments look like.

Not really, you have to try and headcanon a lot of stuff. They tried at least, I guess it's just in the eye of the beholder. I don't really feel that DA needs an open world, they have done just fine with the map interface. Bethesda is more of the ones to do an open world, I don't really think Bioware needs to do them simply because they do.

I think BW took some great steps forward in environment with Legacy and MOTA, honestly, Quoting some of the words Lola used above: expansive, rich, decadent, lavish . I think they really got those aspects right with the DA2 DLC, so I'm definitely encouraged! Honestly, I can't wait to stroll the corrupt streets of Val Royeaux, keeping an eye out for some Duncan-like urchin to try to steal my purse. Or, wear an honest to goodness ballgown, WITHOUT PANTS, along with ornate mask at an Orlesian ball.

Just getting excited thinking about it!! yay, happydance!

Ah I won't bother downloading it then. If the DA team are looking for inspiration surrounding just environments then they'd do better looking at The Witcher 2 and Assassins Creed rather than Skyrim. I'd be really impressed if they could make the environments look as good as the ones in TW2... I'd be even more impressed if I could make my protagonist look as attractive as the female mages in TW2 too lol!

LOL! In England pants are underwear, so when you said you wanted to wear a ballgown with no pants I gasped!

Ooo, you never know, maybe one of our new companions will be a rogue we catch trying to pick pocket us lol. I think DA3 is the perfect opportunity for them to really go crazy with the look and feel of the environments, especially if it's set in Orlais like they've hinted at.

Well I'm not saying the dawnguard dlc was bad or anything they added some pretty good stuff to the game, character wise though bethesda always leaves things lacking but beyond that it is a good DLC to get just for the sake of extra weapons/gear, new skill trees and all that goodness(don't forget armoured trolls!).

Anyways, I have yet to play TW2 and have been considering it.  Is it any good?

Bioware did a pretty good job enviroment wise with ME3, They seem to be taking a step in the right direction so I hope they continue that train and improve upon what they had with DA2.  I just hope they don't use the same graphic style as they did with The Sims 3...  It feels weird whenever I play DA2 and TS3 in the same dayImage IPB...  Here's to hoping they have more variety in DA3(and hoping EA doesn't rush Bioware this time around)!

LMFAO ... I suppose that could be fun, too! You have a skirt... Cullen has a skirt...  OH dear, stopping that line of thought...

But, no, sorry, didn't realize! I was lamenting my lack of pretty dress at the MOTA garden party.

PizzaTheHutt: TW2 is very good, if a little short. The cool thing about the game is that depending on who's side you take at a certain point in the game completely changes where you travel to etc in Act 2, so it's kinda like 2 games in 1 lol. It's a very good looking game, the sex scenes are regular and full frontal (which becomes very amusing if you shag as many people as possible.) The main storyline is a bit dull but the battle mechanics are pretty cool once you get to grips with them. All the female mages are stupidly attractive, everyone else appear very plain in comparison (but apparently it's supposed to be that way, according to the books the game is based on.)

Aw man, I hope we get the option to have better hairstyles in DA3, I wanna make a mage with hair like the ones in TW2.

Interesting, I'll have to get me a copy of TW2 thanks!

Ugh, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who didn't like those hairstyles they had in DA2, they were atrocious!  The clothes in the game were ok at times but after a while of appearing on so many NPCs and backgroundpeople it got tiresome!

PizzaTheHutt: Yeah that annoyed me too. I mean, in DA2 the only person who could wear all the different outfits and armor was the protagonist because all the companions have their own unique style, so all the clothing items should be exclusive only to your character.

I was looking at the hairstyles in the SWTOR mmo and that has better hairstyles than DA2 lol. Surely it can't be that difficult to give us nicer hair? If they want to avoid clipping then they could at least give us some decent up styles.
