Sorry for not replying to posts earlier then this but, I had quite a bit of work to do.

I've been out, too  We're having the "ice-pocalypse" down here. School canceled for two days!!! The bridges are iced over, the roads are completely deserted... it's creepy. And COLD!!!! But, perfect excuse to head down the street to my sister's house, where I spent all day watching soccer and Dr. Who episodes :D

Which is fine, I guess, since I seem to be the new designated the jerk of the thread  *sighs* Maybe it's time for a break from the forums. Scrolling through the DA3 forums, it occured to me that it's the same 10-20 people posting over and over and over again. Spewing their own version of the perfect RPG game, or why BioWare is a terrible company, or (lately) (YET AGAIN) why Cullen and his fans are morons. And of course, that resulted in folks hunting down THIS thread and asking the same old questions as always. What's so special about Cullen? Why do you like him? Defend yourselves. Defend yourselves!!! Silly women with your Twilight obsessions!! Nanner nanner, girls are stupid, etc. etc.

This is usually a fun and safe space away from the madness, but it doesn't always feel that way lately. I'm sure it's just me :D But it seems like we recycle through the same discussions, too, and lately we seem to be turning on one another, which I don't really recall happening in the past. Are we going stir-crazy? Even if they throw us a bone and give us some news, we'll analyze it to death in less than 24 hours, then be back to square one again.

Anyway, I'm just thinking that perhaps in the future, if you don't like something someone says, a friendly PM wouldn't be amiss. I certainly never wish to give offense, especially to fellow Cullenites :) So if someone doesn't like what I said or how I said it, just let me know.

I don't think you have to worry about being the thread jerk MMG. I think everyone was just really eager to make sure the newcomer was welcome and that discussion is perfectly okay. We get your humor but he or she might not. Though we do seem to be a bit stir crazy.  We're less than a year out after all.

Anyway I've not had a single day off due to snow,  but I've gotten one major cold lol.

Well if any of you are truly bored I do have a Justinia forum that's only 35 pages. I think I got most of the information, but I'm always looking for new theories about her.

I'm kind of indifferent about her character,  though I do lean towards liking her. I think she was a bard who was also a member of some form of secret society. She was sent on a mission,  maybe by DAI's antagonist and then when she figured out he or she was evil attempted to stop them thus her current situation.

Either that or she is just a really progressive character. I love that she has agents though.

I'm not worried. Just a bit bewildered and hurt. I'm sure you wouldn't like it either if twice in recent history someone didn't like what you said (when you thought what you said was perfectly fine) and then every single person lined up in agreement against you. It's rough. After awhile you just start to think, okay, maybe I just shouldn't post at all. Because it seems everything I say is "offensive" and "wrong." ME! Offensive! And I am the biggest damn liberal outside of San Francisco lol

And then all these troll threads starting up again, and us even having trolls enter the thread again... it is just frustrating.

Also, please don't try to scold me. You're far too young ;)

I'm sorry you have a cold :( Last year I had, I think, 6-7 colds. The product of starting full time at a new work place, I guess?? So when my co-worker came into my office to ask for cough drops I told him to BACK THE EFF UP. (Okay, I put it much nicer than that.) I then carefully drizzled the cough drops into his hand without making any skin-to-skin contact. Afterward, I Purell'ed my hands up to my elbows lol

Anyway, get well soon *hugs*

Is that the current Divine? I honestly don't know much about her. I remember she was in Asunder, but not much else. I guess she will make a few appearances in The Stolen Throne.

So, I love DA2, but conversations with Anders always seem to be tricky if you don't want to romance him! So his comment is, "I got a bit weighty the last time we talked. Sorry for putting that on you." I'm at a point where the options are: 1. I'm always ready to listen, 2. Snarky joke, and 3. DON'T DO IT AGAIN *angry face* (comes also with a broken heart icon... what??)

Where is the, "It's not a problem, Anders" response?

Do I select the jerkface response or the nice one, knowing it will lead him on (and then I'll HAVE to pick the broken heart jerkface response later)?

Ughghgh.

I think Justinia's an interesting character. I really hope she survives the opening of the game, if the leaked survey is to be believed, because I really do want to talk to her and learn more about her. But as Danny said, I don't think I've made her mind up about her. Same with the Celene and Gaspard situation. I'm still leaning towards Celene, but I recently heard Briala may switch loyalties to Gaspard over the course of the novel, so could it be that Gaspard is more progressive, pro-elf of the two? Decisions, decisions.

Yeah, I ended up going with the snarky one, even though it's not really my current Hawke's personality. Everybody can let loose and tell a joke sometimes, right?

I just realized something based on what someone posted in the latest Cullen thread on the main forum:

From Origins, including DLC, there was Isabela, Merrill, and Anders for companions. Isabela was a side NPC, Merrill was a side NPC and a brief companion, and Anders was a companion in the Awakening DLC. The only truly new NPC's (companion-wise) in DA2 were Varric, Fenris and Aveline. I'm not counting Bethany or Carver because their time was so short in the game.

Point is, there were two fairly forgettable NPC's, and Anders. And they made it into DA2 in larger roles than what they had.

For Inquisition, we have returning companion Varric, Cassandra (taking the slot of Isabela or Merrill as the fairly forgettable NPC of Origins transferred to DA2), and Vivienne. We know for sure that they are companions. Then there's Morrigan and Leliana, probably neither of them are companions but will play a big role in the game.

So I think that, Cullen coming into Inquisition as a companion, has a really good chance. Based on those "odds".

Soo delurking again really quick to add a suggestion and I’m
sorry if this doesn’t make sense (I’m running off of no sleep again) and I promise I’m not scolding mmg, I’m far too young ;)

Mmg, Danny is really onto something when he mentioned that everyone was worried about making the newcomer feel excluded because he might not be a fan of Cullen.  Having had someone recently leave who WAS a fan due to feelings of being ignored and unwanted in thread made everyone relatively on edge in regards to making others feel unwelcome.  While it’s sad that they felt that way and left, the good thing that came out of it is that people have decided to voice their opinions about things that make them feel uncomfortable or maybe start being more willing to include others.  That’s not to say that this thread hasn’t always been very welcoming and kind to both members and outsiders alike, because it has, but as an observer the attitude was starting to wane a little and if the group was heading towards being a major click it quickly deceased all movement in that direction.  The thing that should be kept in mind is that the thread is in a transitioning process where everyone is trying to figure out what attitude (or level of voicing opinions) is acceptable and what isn’t.

The thing about everyone lining up against you is difficult and I am sure it makes you feel hurt, because you have spent lots of time invested in this thread and let’s face it, real life or online life being ganged up on sucks.  Something to keep in mind however, is that this is a thread where people typically voice their opinions and may not realize that they were gaining up on another person.  Either because they missed the others posts or they didn’t realize how bad it looked until they saw the line of other people’s comments.

For example, remember when Ag voiced an opinion ages back and everyone jumped down her throat for it?  Ag didn’t actually do or say anything wrong; she simply voiced an opinion that she was frustrated over something in regards to Bioware.  But because of the way threads are set up it seemed like people were out to get her.

Now there is something to be said about cautionary phrasing.  I don’t think you meant to say “If you’re not a fan a Cullen, then why are you here… get out.”  But instead really meant “Oh, if you’re not a fan of Cullen what brought you to this thread?”  It’s just like texting…you can accidentally cause a war if you aren’t careful lol. The main reason everyone freaked is because when reading your question it sounded like the first one.  As someone who is very self conscious over what I post if I had come here my first time and seen that question my initial assumption would have been that the group didn’t really want anyone new buzzing around bothering them and I would have panicked and left.  Especially if I didn’t know that background this group has had to deal with in regards to trolls.  So having lurked for a very long time and my occasional interaction I know that you didn’t mean to sound that way because you’re very kind and welcoming (Danny was right about this too) but someone new might not have.  So please don’t feel hurt over people trying to correct your comment… maybe just watch the phrasing because lately you have been coming across as more aggressive than normal and before that might not have registered to others but like mentioned above everyone is more sensitive to what is being said.:)

Interacting with people when you can’t see their face is tricky.  My partner always gets mad at things I say while texting.  Or he just wants me to bring him more booze and chocolates…hmm.  BUT! Please don’t leave the thread unless you feel like you emotionally have to, I get one heck of a kick out of your comments and enjoy the things you post!:D

Edited because the lines were all funny!

Oh that’s interesting Chanda! I am still hopeful that he will be a companion. DG seems to reasonably like him, he would fit really well into the story and he still has a major fan following.

Slightly different topic, I remember reading in some twitter post that they want some things to stay a surprise. Has Bioware ever had surprise companions? I’m not counting DLC companions I mean characters that showed up in the game that were companions you could get without realizing lol.

Man can you imagine how crazy everything will get if that happened?  The smartest thing for the bad Templars to do
would be take her out and then claim the mages did it.  All they would have to do is point to
Kirkwall and say “They have a history of terrorism.  They did it there of course they went after
the Divine!” and the commoners would believe them.  That might be something for our Inquisition
to do, try and figure out who killed the divine.  It could be like the game Clue! :D

LOL I love that gif. Perfectly represents the BSN. Gahh.

Yes, I'm down south... no snow for us <_< Yesterday it was 50% chance. Today we waited... waited... waited... and nothing but ice. Ice, ice, ICE!!!! Everywhere lol (I'm in Louisiana, so the thought of snow sent everyone in paroxyms of joyful anticipation.) But I can imagine elsewhere folks are becoming a little sick of winter.

Oh no! Georgia is CLOSED. It took my sister 7 hours to get from her work to home...which is twenty minutes away! And a friend of a friend was stuck on the roads from 3PM to 1AM! Then a friend's father has to camp out in his truck because the roads are so icey - it's hell here. So, we have snow but it'll all freeze over by morning and the roads will be even worse. 8[

I remember at one time I did lead Anders on the relationship track through Act 1 on accident, then after Dissent with his Questioning Beliefs conversation in Act 2 I avoided anything to do with a heart. Anders took it as a friendship thing, and didn't pursue my Hawke.

I like to think that my Hawke did want to pursue him, but eventually took his warnings to heart. This made Anders very happy, and yet very sad.

You know I really love your postive outlook towards Cullen as a companion, it always makes me want to jump on your wagon. <3

Also a thought from the thread on the main page. Maybe Cullen's appearance depends on your choices you made in the other two game, like if you sided with the templars before he might either bemore fanatic or even join the red templars. On the other side if you are more diplomatic and side with the Mages he stays with the Chantry ad might join your cause.

I'm annoyed that, for example, she's not even a character you can select as featuring in your stories on fanfiction.net. Random, yes, but slightly indicative that I guess no one's paying much attention to her.

Hey, hon, indeed sorry for the ganging up. I think Kirrahe hit it on the head that everyone's hypersensitive to giving the wrong impression right now. I do feel like I have to have a disclaimer on any sentence, which is kind of a shame. (edit: Another thought I had after this was that I think the accusations of 'ignoring' posts can also make us overcompensate, as it were.) Hopefully things will level out.

It certainly doesn't help that we get a new influx of cage rattlers during our rough patch. :crying:
