there in the back, you can see the book. However, I do not remember what it's called...you know like when you put your mouse over it.

They probably have a book filled with passages from the Chant.
I think the Chant of Light is their main religious text, yeah.
Who wrote the Chant? Is it the teachings of Andraste?
Basically, it's a compendium of her teaching, although I am not sure if she herself put it to verse, or if her disciples did.

I would hope it would be her "disciples," rather like the Christian Bible, so that it's not the authenticity of the text that's important but the meaning and metaphor.
How long ago did Andraste live?

Pretty sure it's an excerpt from the Chant of Light.

Okay, cool. That's a good length of time. Although that would make Thedas the rough equivalent of 1170AD, the dark dark dark DARK ages of Europe LOL

Hi all! Popping in again for some offtopicness... I was wondering if anyone here is planning to visit Gamescom this year and if so, on which days?

Yay! Reason I am already planning is because the hotel rooms are already getting sold out, and I don't really feel like paying top notch for a room. I think it is a bit too far to drive back and forth from home each day.ag99 wrote...

I was thinking about something last night as I was trying to get some sleep (usually when I come up with my better ideas - oy). It was about Bianca, and how Varric's crossbow was her design. Do y'all think if she was not a surface dwarf that she would have been named a Paragon for her ingenuity? Granted, Varric's crossbow was the only one that worked, but I imagine with a bunch of dwarves interested they might make it work.
Just an AU thing I thought interesting.

I think she would become a Paragon. Her invention is unlike any other weapon out there, other than the regular bow and arrow. The only difference is that a crossbow can be shot by anyone. It doesn't require any special training or a whole lot of practice. Just look through the sights, aim, pull the trigger and BAM your enemy is dead. Plus, you don't have to get in close to your enemies in order to kill them. If I was Queen of Orzammar, I'd totally have the assembly make her a Paragon.PhantomGinger wrote...

Chiming in late, but the only 'texts' I've heard them refer to are the Chant and then things like the Sermons of Justinia II. I would expect if there was another holy book of some kind, akin to the Christian Bible, we'd have heard about it. My guess is that the Chant is it. Although it's in verse it does also catalog their creation stories, the desecration of the Golden City, creation of the Darkspawn, all that. So it's not just about Andraste. In fact, very little of what they've shared with us so far seems to be about her.eluvianix wrote...
