I just never stated it because I do know there are some people who'd probably outright dismiss my thoughts and opinions.
I'd never dismiss someone's opinions because of age

I've never understood what "casual gamer" even means. I assume I'm casual? It's a hobby I enjoy, something I do to unwind, an outlet for creativity - not really serious business or anything.
A few years ago I sort of casually referred to myself as a gamer, and my brother-in-law immediately laughed and said, "You're not a gamer!" That surprised me and kind of hurt my feelings a little, even though where he was coming from, he thought he was paying me a compliment. I doubt he would consider himself a gamer; he probably equates gamer with smelly neckbeard basement-dwelling loser lol
But I've played everything from strategy games, FPS, RPG, puzzle games, to hell, Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog back in the day (and while we're at it, Metal Gear Solid 2 back in the day, oh, and also I vividly recall a Jurassic Park game, no lie! And to go even FURTHER back, I was playing Jump Man and Rootin' Tutin' on the Commodore 64 back when I was a wee tot).
Now why on god's green earth would I be considered a CASUAL GAMER, tell me that much. But because I squee over romances I'm a casual gamer.

Well, I don't know the storylines beyond what everyone else already knows. I specifically asked not to be told, because I didn't want to spoil the game for myself.
You had the option to be told plot lines? Dang, Lola, how deep are you in with the devs lol.

Well I did TRY to play CoD - but I couldn't get past the tutorial because the drill sergeant guy kept yelling at me.
Confession: I did play CoD quite a bit, but I did not enjoy because... I do not enjoy killing "real" people. And CoD takes place in the real world, with people speaking German, Russian, whatever.
I'm most comfortable killing robots and aliens LOL But even in DA and ME it's "fantasy" and "sci-fi," not based on real life events where real people actually lived and died.

I actually bought CoD for me. I thought it would be a good stress release, but all the yelling only increased it!
I am a-ok killing hordes of creatures with a sword/daggers/my brain apparently.

ohmygosh, that's so awesome!!! Welcome to the thread! And, def stay delurked a while. We also have several other 40-something moms floating around, myself included. Although, my five-year old is not nearly the artist your daughter is! LOL Wow!Shyviolet wrote...
This thread has finally dragged me out of a 3.5 year stretch of lurking. Unlike the rest of this forum, which terrifies me, this one seems uh, sane. And hopefully kind to 40 something mums who aren't very good at combat, but love gaming all the same, AND gasp! like the romances.
I was mainly indifferent to Cullen for the most part before I finally tried playing as a mage. And then he got a whole lot more interesting
My daughter drew Cullen for me, based on my description of his personality and some screen shots. Sadly neither of my ungrateful offspring play Dragon Age. Here it is. (I hope it works!)

I think in Black Ops 2 I had a straight 1.0 k/d, but I am absolutely and utterly ****e at Ghosts.
That and people modding the living carp out of the [Blops2] lobbies get on my nerves.

Watching my brother, virtually shooting strangers is far more fun though!

Love historical war times though! Don't really know why sword play feels more acceptable than guns. Unless it's a futuristic gun. Or a mafioso tommy gun. Or any guns in Red Dead Redemption.. okay, I guess guns are acceptable, I just hate that modern themed stuff. For me, it's probably mainly the fan base behind it. I've met way too many misogynistic anger management needing types in them.

Hydraulic carriages!
Also, situations such as these are one reason I don't play online multiplayer games so much anymore. When I first made my xbl gamertag several years ago, I thought I would really only play with real life friends, so my first name is in my GT. I could change it, but I just haven't ever gotten around to spending money for that yet.

You can say that again...
The first and only time I played, there was a guy who would yell really really loud everytime he was killed and swear like crazy!
It was kinda sad and funny at the same time...

Yeah going way, way back into history isn't a problem for me either. But if it's less than 100 years ago... I mean some of those people who lived through that crap are still alive, or their children and grandchildren are alive. It's just too real and sad for me!
