Agree. I love the devs... especially the writers.

Don't bet on that.  Gaider has made it his official position that if it were up to him he wouldn't give out any information about the game at all, ever, before it was released.

Well there was that one post he made, about him kinda "wanting/thinking it would be nice"  to share the companions on Vday but as he stated it wasnt up to him so idk... that and for example in the PAX AUS  video when ppl were asking all sorts  of questions the devs were like " sorry guys we wish we could tell you more but we cant due to marketing" or something along those lines

I can't offer proof, but I know we all believed it would be Fall 2013, and there are folks in this thread who know how to get their official information (R2 and Lola for example), not just relay hearsay.

Yeah, he's a writer, so on the one hand he's probably dying to share his babies with people. On the other hand, it's probably more exciting (again, as a writer) to let people experience said babies without being spoiled. He probably goes back and forth.

Realise that he was make a joke. What Silfren referred to was mentioned in response to a question about that particular statement. Among other times. He didn't really mean it as "I would like to," rather he meant "it would be funny if... but no, not really."

I would agree with that.  I don't like getting spoilers.  I'd be quite happy to wait until the game's release to know anything beyond basic story plot, and that only so I know whether it's a story I'd be interested in playing.  Mind you, I DO end up learning the details along with everyone else, of companions and such, but that's in no small part because I have a hard time NOT checking out those kind of spoilers once I know they're available, especially if I want to participate with friends here on the forums.  But it wouldn't upset me at all if no such information was ever released. 

I wish I could find Gaider's post.  As I recall, he put it firmly enough that he doesn't understand why people love spoilers so much, even mild ones, and that he would never release any info about the game were it his decision, that I think it's safe to say he's not really of two minds on the issue. 

Bottom line, the man just likes to watch us fans flail in misery.

That whole Valentine's thing was actually something the fans were speculating on, wasn't it?  Someone said they thought it would be nice to have some or all the Companions revealed on Valentine's Day, and Gaider was responding to that?  I don't recall the idea originating with Gaider at all.  I thought he was just going into the thread to say that it wasn't going to happen, just to prevent an inaccurate rumor from getting started that there was GOING to be a release of Companion info on that day.

And the problem with sharing information at certain early stages may well be that there's no guarantee it'll still be accurate when the game finally does come out.  I'm sure that Gaider is extremely conscious of the potential backlash that could cause.

I'm a writer, too, so I know how eager you get to release that next chapter so that the fans can go insane over your brilliance LOL But the intelligent, disciplined side of you reminds you it would be better to do a sh!t-ton of editing instead of immediately releasing the latest snippet...
