On an unrelated note.. I like Viv but I hope she's not one of those "atrocious" (for lack of a better word) type of girl (high school girl) that kinda makes you feel like crap because you didnt wear the "right type of outfit for this specific occasion" or whatever, kinda like Leliana when she was hinting like "omg u have such pretty hair but not as pretty as the Orlisian girls who had live birds in them" type of thing.. like I know that Viv is apparently "big" into fashion... but form that one thread in the DAI forum she sounds like one of those stuck-up cheerleaders who only wears brand clothing and would look down on you if you dress otherwise.. idk that's just my opinion
I totally see where you're coming from. And, yeah, I guess to me she kinda sounds like the kind of girl you love to hate. Or at least, I hope so, and it's not just regular ole hate. I dunno, her very brief sassiness in the trailer enchanted me, but the bunting thing does not, if that's who she is. So, time will tell. But regardless, I'm still really excited to know more!
Agreed, for now, to me, she just sounds like "one of those girls" but maybe, as we get to know her, she wont be as we "make her out to be" but right now based on the brief description of her.. idk so far she just sounds like one of those "stereotypical high-school popular kind of cheerleader girls" I hope I'm wrong
Back in the '80s, there was a television show called M*A*S*H* that had a character called Charles Emmerson Winchester III. He was a charter member of the Boston elite who found himself stationed in Korea after losing his cushy Stateside gig because he was insufferable to the wrong person. He suffered from an enormous sense of entitlement and a towering ego, but he was a brilliant character and I absolutely loved him. He was often the butt of others' jokes (and sometimes managed to turn the tables, so it wasn't all one-sided). Mocking Winchester was a running gag on the show, and that helped make him more likable, and it made his rare triumphs sweet. He was also endowed with some virtues to offset his many vices, such as a genuine kindness toward people with speech impediments and surprisingly humble charity toward people who were truly in trouble.
With any luck, Vivienne might be like that. That kind of character isn't easy to write because they'd need to be generally imperious with just the perfect amount of humanity, but I'm pretty sure they could pull it off. I don't remember ever seeing a female character like that, but it would definitely work. And she'd be much easier to love than a Morrigan-Anora cross.
