I love this screen
So, here's something I just noticed for the first time. Cassandra's left handed!
from the other DAI sub forum of story-campaign
I read some complaints that certain threads in Scuttlebutt were technically offtopic and belonged in a different area, but there was no where for them to go. I agreed
Our moderators will move threads from there to here, and you can feel free to make new ones here too!
We do have more subforums for DAI that we will open up when more information is revealed beyond speculation etc. However, I feel there is enough information out there about returning followers, new characters, and the premise of the game to warrant that we open this subforum now! Apologies for not anticipating this sooner and thank you for putting up with us as the dust is settling
Oh I didn't felt like it was necessarily an "attack" I was just purely stating my own opinion on the matter from a different perspective
I agree with this, I use to think that Americans are more opened minded but I was kind of wrong in that regard. In Europe we don't really give a rats arse, I mean, for example, where ever there are beaches in Europe a lot of woman go topless and no one cares as opposed for example in the states where im sure most men would go nuts and act like they never seen a booob before lol.
I kind of agree to a carting extent, it is true that younger minds are somewhat affected by this, but this is pretty typical for young ppl. that crave attention. Although i do disagree at the same time, that it *does* have to do with being comfortable with yourself and accept yourself for who you are, and be unique in your own way.
And honestly no one is "beating" anyone with a bat and say that YOU HAVE TO LOOK THIS WAY OR NO ONE WILL LIKE YOU . Its just a selfconscious judgment that teenagers make for themselves because they haven't accepted themselves for who they are,(heck I should know I use to be the same way) and not because they are "forced" to do so by the media, because... I mean... if that was the case everyone would go on the rampage if ppl were to do everything thats on tv or in video games, the world would have been in chaos if the media was to be blamed.
And on a more personal note (as I have stated above) I use to be exactly like those teenage girls you have mentioned in your post, I didnt like my self one bit, but once you grow up you start to realize whats real and whats not, and what acceptance actually is, I didnt grew up thinking that "oh man if I want to be happy I must marry a rich man" or "hey if guys wanna like me I must get bigger breasts" I have came to piece with how I look and I dont have to copy any magazine girl in order to feel good about myself. Most stuff we see in games movies and magazines are pretty much make believe and obviously not real, and yes while its made to appeal the the human eye we don't necessarily have to copy everything we see thats where the term "fantasy" comes in
Yest it is silly but that is fiction not reality, Fiction is meant to be silly and overrated, but once again its up to the ppl to determine what is real and whats not, it doesn't mean that whatever is on TV everyone has to do it
Sorry If I sounded a bit mean , didnt mean too but Im just simply stating my point of view on things, and no im not saying that whatever I mention is right. To some ppl may not seem right but this is just how I view the situation...
Oh I never thought you sounded mean I just didn't want you to think I was like "Rawr!" At you
and your point of view is equally valid!
And to be honest with you the media and marketing doesn't Literally hit people with a bat lol but basically that's what marketing does in a much more clever way. They show a woman who's ridiculously attractive buying something like face cream and men all over her because of it lol! It's the "if you look this way people will want you! And you'll look this way if you buy our product!" Or just look at magazines where 70% of the pages are adds with models and then on top of it the front cover says something dumb like "The most beautiful woman alive" and she's been photoshopped and has had work done and people who work on her hair and makeup every day. When people go to stores, play games, watch tv, and movies they end up seeing things from this artificially created world all the time so basically that's how it's being shoved down our throats. The more you see something the less bizarre it seems until it gets to the point where that is the standing norm. The media doesn't need to literally say "you aren't good enough!" Because they do it so well by being subtle with it.
Also yes, there is an aspect of growing up and being able to handle it differently but emotionally insecurity is still prevalent in adult women and men. Also why accept such an unfair fantasy about women? Why tolerate the over sexualization and just assume people should be able to differentiate on their own? Especially when it can be so harmful. What I'm saying is if we do make a big deal about this girls won't have to grow up feeling so bad about themselves. Wouldn't it be better to save them from that pain and self hate then expect them to hopefully come to grips with themselves over time? Also within the last 130 years each generations pressure for being physically perfect gets worse so our kids and their kids will be flooded with images of what this cruel society thinks they should be and for those poor kids it will only get more difficult for them to come to the point where they say "It doesn't matter I'm great the way I am." As an interesting side note I wonder if it gets worse because technology gets better? Or the beauty bar keeps getting set higher.
Ok so this is such a weird example but Have you (or anyone) seen the South Park episode about Photoshop? It actually does a reasonably good job showing the way it's effecting girls.
Again not arguing happily discussing
Well, I guess I see where your coming from, I kind of started to not care anymore, because in a way I kinda got use to it and think that this is how things are now...
and your right, kids shouldn't have to worry about their appearance at such a young age, and speaking of witch I just remembered that one show that was on TLC (i think) thats called Toddler Tiara or something like that where kids pretty much just dress up like adults and have a ton of makeup on at the age of like 5 now THAT I agree it is pretty outrageous and I cant believe that their parents encourage that stuff on to them... I mean in a way they are kinda "taking away their childhood" also Im pretty sure when those kids grow up (in the way that they were raised) they would probably think that "beauty" is all that matters.
I know that right now Im kinda contradicting my self and am somewhat in between on the matter, like somethings I dont really find that sexualized and some things I do (like the toddler thing I mentioned)
But at the same time... (and over here Im using myself as an example): like for me in videogames if I get the chance to choose my gender and wear whatever armor or clothes in the game I want, I tend to make my character very pretty but like.... in the real world I wouldn't want to wear something provocative, I guess for me In a video game I just visualize something that Im not but I wouldn't do the same thing for myself in RL if that makes any sense (lol sorry my english is kinda bad sometimes and I cant always express myself the way I want)

Wait, what? See *that* is awesome. More left handed representation, please!
(I could start my own whole thread about left handed questions regarding this series, I swear. *grin*)

If I remember right, her movie shows her to be ambidextrous with a definite leaning towards left handed? ![]()
Randomness...
Thinking of putting up one of the PSC's I did for Lola, that I haven't mailed out yet for the 4000 page...
Lola what you think?
It's past 3 am here, I just saw Brokeback Mountain for the first time. I cried the last 15 minutes of the movie, I just can't ![]()

I think maybe this image is mirrored... Varric is also left-handed. Now, mind, I'm not against south-paws... 2 of my daughters are left-handed! ![]()

Well, I don't know what the "canon" is (and I hadn't thought about the image being mirrored, but it probably is), but when Hawke meets Varric, as he's talking to the little thief kid, he punches him with his left hand. (I'm not kidding. As a leftie, I think I'm hardwired to notice crap like this.
)

I don't remember precisely myself, but doesn't he also twirl the bolt with his left hand? I'd just never paid attention to how he held his crossbow until this picture and R2 mentioning about Cassandra.

Okkkkkkkkkkay. I'm uploading my inquisition contest entry to youtube right now. It's LULZ.
I didn't read up but I did want to say that I was in pageants and I am terribly well-adjusted, successful, and charming. ![]()

Urrrgggghh man that show. It's pretty awful isn't it? I swear that the people who participate in that are a minority of really...different people that think subjugating 5 year old children to pageant shows is a good idea. Mostly mothers and fathers who have a terrible grip on child rearing and pedophiles. The majority of people only watch that show so they can get their dose of "This is INSANE!" I haven't seen it because...well I've seen one add and that was enough to make me run for the hills lol! Oh man I didn't know you guys could get that in other countries that's just humiliating! Seriously they should at least have a public vote for that kind of thing so you don't think we're nearly as bat-cr@p crazy! Curse you TLC why couldn't you have just stuck to shows about cakes and wedding dresses! LOL!
Ugh. Toddlers in Tiaras is a horrible show. You'd think the makers would've been all "wait a minute" as soon as they saw the title, because dressing toddlers and young children like adult models is not okay. Some of the mothers on that show are outright abusive if their child acts up because they don't want the makeup on too.
Mmph.
Another completely horrible show is Dance Mums. The kids are beautiful dancers, but my God the instructor is so abusive and horrible and confidence crushing. She has a definite favourite and constantly points out how all the other children under her tutelage are not good enough. Are not enough like her Golden Dancer. Are not worthy enough for her full attention, and they better step up their damn game. These are, like, eight year olds she acts like this towards. No words for the amount of anger I have towards that show.
Smh?
It means "shaking my head."
Could be tomorrow, maybe? Apparently they like to pick Tuesdays, for whatever reason.
I hope so! I'm always grumpy on Tuesdays because I have a wretched work schedule that day, so I could use a pick-me-up. ![]()

Oh dear...
Oh, you know. It's the same old, same old. "I don't understand why people like him," "I'm sick of hearing about this guy," "It's only silly fangirls that eat up how he had a crush on the female mage origin that like him." ![]()
That Cullen thread in the new DAI character section...
This picture, pretty much sums up my feelings for every Cullen thread that exists on the BF (except this one ofc).

Oh thanks! No, I've never done it before. I was pretty much scared I'd offended everyone French with my accent. I even put a disclaimer in my video, so that makes me feel better, thank you. ![]()
Dat voice acting. I like it.
And I will be so disappoint if we don't get a quest to track down a missing cat. All through DAII I was expecting a quest to track down that lost dog that one guy was asking after/calling for. ![]()

Yeah this scene needs to happen in some form. I did one version where I played both parts (as hard as I tried I couldn't get my husband to read me the lines), and I did the Inquisitor lines very posh!Hawke-esque, and it was pretty funny next to the offended Orleasian accent, but at the end of the day I didn't think the tone of voice was different enough to be convincing that they were different people.
I sort of imagined my snarky Hawke getting chased around looking for a cat and not being very pleased about the whole situation.
