Aww, looked what just popped up on dA. Cullen *kidnapped* a cat in Darktown (poor Anders), but I think poor cat is safer with Cullen (Anders is too dangerous now, sadly):

Gala, that movie looks verra interesting. Can't wait!
I feel your pain. I strangely find I have a "love the one you're with" problem with my LIs -- meaning, I just can't seem to love who I'm with. When I settle on who will the the LI for a given playthrough, invariably I end up pining for someone else. My love for Anders was ironically at its lowest in the PT where I romanced him, and I was in to Sebastian. And Cullen. When I finally did my Sebastian romance, I was falling for Anders again... and, um Cullen. Again. Perhaps the downside of too much metagaming. Or, seeing a trend, possibly aSialater wrote...

Sia, you're right. I believe Cullen was written by JH. I had a memory derp.
RagingCyclone, that's when I think a game really suceeds, is when you come across a character that hooks you completely. If they don't make you rage, yearn and burn, there has been a failure to connect somewhere. Only a few characters affect me in such a way, but those that do can take over my mind. Fictional characters are inbued with the magic of their creators, and they have a power all their own.

DA2 lacked an Alistair or a Kaidan for me: a romance that really grabbed me and refused to let go. Major props to the writer of DA2 Cullen (and Greg Ellis for his sensitive voicing). He had me at hello.

Heh, so uh.. is that why Zev and Cullen dominated a story in which they were supposed to be secondary characters?

While DA2 had no Alistair (or Leliana), I was more intrigued by more of LIs in this one. Everyone except Merrill, personally. But, I don't think any of them were written as deeply.

I agree. Even if you're not casting, the whole staff over the shoulder thing is a bit of a giveaway. I sorta imagine a more real scenario in my head would be similar to Bekkael's Twisted!Hawke, where the mage hides her powers and pretends she's really a dual-wielding rogue.Avilia wrote...
I just did Cullen's intro with TWO mages in the group - Anders and Bethany. I can't say how much that blind spot in the writing bothers me. I understand that it would make the plotting very difficult if mages were recognised but still, it does rather make the Templars look stupid.
Oh - I know the mage/Cullen pairing is a favourite but if he was an LI I'd probably play rogues and warriors - poor love's had enough angst already
