OK, welcome to Page 300!! Share the reasons you want Cullen in DA3!

I think Cullen should be in DA3 because we want to learn more about what he thinks being a templar is about.

I want Cullen to be in DA3 because

He's an all around interesting character
Out of all the NPCs his growth between DAO and DA2 was shown the most, I'd like to continue to see how he grows as a man
I'd like for him to be a Companion/LI, He's got a lot to say by this point I'm sure!

I want to learn what Cullen looks like in Orlesian clothing.

And, Melca, to answer your question:

You need to extract Cullen's head from faces.erf with the gffeditor. It's called hm_cullen.mor.

Then, with the editor, open up your save file, navigate to index 16950 SAVEGAME_PLAYER_MORPH. There will be a text box at the bottom. Right click the text box, select import from file and choose "hm_cullen.mor" file. And click save. Then reload your save. If your PC wasn't male, you can change it in 16322 savegame_Appearance_gender to 1 for male.

For more tips on switching Hawke, check out this  and the comments on this.

I think Cullen should be a companion/LI in DA3 because he is a good strong character with probably one of the most interesting backstories seen in-game so far, especially for an NPC! Not only that but he has sooo much potential to accomplish something big surrounding the Mage/Templar war and finally define himself as more than just the tortured Knight-Captain.

Man, it's do strange seeing him out of his armor... Not that I'm complaining! He should wear less clothing more often!

Woot, you finally hit Page 300.

I was going to post a little while ago, but i figured it'd be rude if i took the first Page 300 post from a Fan.

I can't remember what it was that I was going to post, of course, that would be far too simple. So i'll just say "Congrats on 300", and I will possibly return in the near future when I can remember the pressing matter that was bothering me before this Landmark Victory for the Cullen Thread ensued.

Aw thanks! Feel free to post though, we like hearing people's opinions on Cullen be it good or bad, gives us stuff to talk about whilst waiting for DA3 news lol.

I'd also like to see him in DA3, because:

1. He's the voice of sanity, as per DG, and can provide a moderate view point on the mage-templar struggle.

2. We know so little of his backstory outside of the Ferelden Circle. Where does he come from? When did he join the templars? Why doesn't he have a last name? Fans want to know more.

3. He's shown such remarkable character evolution over the last two games, I look forward to seeing the continuation of his character arc after his Act 3 epiphany. Now that he's thinking for himself and understands his own beliefs about the Templar Order, which differ strongly from Meredith's, what will he do now that the Order has broken the Navarran Accord and no longer follows the Chantry?

4. It would be a shame if we never had the opportunity to romance the poor dear. Boy needs a happy ending.

5. You honestly can't have too much of such a handsome thing.

6. Did I mention you can't have too much Cullen...? I did...? Oh...

Hahaha I love that picture!

Another reason why I think he should be a companion/LI is because the poor guy needs a bit of affection, be it in the form of friendship with the protagonist and/or companions, or a romantic relationship with the protagonist. The poor guy seems like a bit of a loner.

My pleasure. I think you will. I know I have!  :P

So, there's another reason. I'd like to see the native range of his expressions without having to steal from other characters.

Woot! 300+! Here's to many more!

I want Cullen in DAIII because it'd be no fun for the Chantry to be completely evil -- moral ambiguity is what makes DA so fun. So Justinia needs a few good men on her side...

... and delving deeper into a character fans already love, who's already walking that path... it just makes a lot more sense than introducing a new character and starting at square one, dropping a beloved one in the process!

That's a point, one of the dev tweeted something about knowing what's on a characters mind without them needing to speak. In which case, I want to see all the facial expressions Cullen could pull, I'm pretty sure there will be some really heartbreaking ones given his perchant for being so hard on himself.

I totally support the theory that Andraste was a mage, probably a Spirit healer. It would explain why her ashes have such miraculous healing powers. In fact, I think one book that was a gift for Wynne was about this, and it had been saved from being burned.

Yeah, this theory is one of my faves. It would be so great for them to use it to "reset" the mage-templar conflict in DA3. Talk about shaking the foundations of the religion! LOL

Wouldn't actually surprise me if a select few within the Chantry (like Justinia) had this knowledge and actually wanted to do something productive with it -- like reverse the cycle of mage abuse.

Even with all of the theoretical evidence others have gathered that point to Andraste's being a mage, I actually wasn't impressed until someone pointed out all of these:

That's the beauty of Cullen, he's well known enough to be of interest to people, but is also enough of a blank slate to take his personality anyway the writers want.

I'm inclined to agree.... lady with a fire ball = mage. It would be enough of a sureprise for her husband to sell her out to the Tevinters, no?Posted Image

Exactly, why else would her ashes have healing powers!

Oh yeah, the flame is coming out of her hand, which totally means she was a mage! It couldn't be because she was sentenced to death by fire and was purified by the flames, which in turn became a symbol of her church!

That's sort of like saying that Jesus is depicted as being nailed to the cross because he was a carpenter.  :P

The Maker=God. Andraste=Bride of the Maker. Things associated with the Maker=Miraculous powers. That more aptly explains why her ashes have healing powers than "Andraste was a mage." Since when do dead mages have magic, except when they're possesed by demons?

I mean, by that logic, Hawke could cure injuries by taking bites out of Anders.

LOL I was thinking the same thing... but not nearly in such a funny way!

Touche! And that is hilarious! I didn't think about the burning at the stake before speaking, as I've just gotten up from a nap and am mildly 'special' at the moment.

Also, I would like to test this theory of biting Anders. Is there a mod? lol

Someone's got to fill the Sword and Shield slot and he seems decent at it. Plus, y'know, those templar abilities would come in handy. And I think there's a good character arc there, where Cullen comes to terms with the events of DA2. He might be a rogue templar by now.

I'm not looking to romance the guy, but there's a good love story to be had there, what with him overcoming his immense shyness.

Anyway, Cullen would also make a good companion/LI because he'd have some intriguing opinions on the situation in general. Plus I think he could potentially have some hilariously awkward moments thanks to his lack of normal life experience outside of the Templar Order. What on earth would he do with his free time between quests lol.
