from the "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but..." thread
I suppose that depends on how many video editors they have among their Inquisition staff (probably several) and how many they have to spare from other parts of development (probably a lot less than several). I suppose it also depends on the other responsibilities and priorities that the video editors have. People who work in product development often wear several hats by necessity. Man-hours are a finite resource.
If you asked me if I'd rather see those man-hours spent on the game than some unnecessary (albeit appreciated) dev diaries if push came to shove. If there's time to spare, that's great, but their time is best spent elsewhere

You're right. We have a very dedicated core video team - Chase and Tanner Boyajian (they are brothers which I think is adorable and they don't think it is when I say that) - which is associated with the marketing department. They work with a producer named Jon Judelson (we call him Juddles). On my side, I have a community coordinator, Conal, who is my Renaissance Man - graphics, video, sound, writing, photography - but he works on things like the Character Kits, the Voice Over Contest video, and studio blogs. Not trailers or dev diaries. Conal, Chase, and Tanner really don't take resources from the game team because they need to focus on development. As you saw from the trailer today, putting a video together is a work of art and Chase/Tanner/Jon have amazing film backgrounds.
I'm more curious as to how it's possible that only one person at BioWare can edit videos and how it takes more than a month to edit videos, pneumonia or not.

To clarify, it doesn't take a month to *edit* videos. There's lots of other things that go into it from making the thing that is going in the video, to storyboarding, to capturing game footage, to editing it, to mixing sound, to writing the script, to recording VO, to finding and adding music, to going through the chain of review and approvals, to iterating, and slotting it in for the perfect calendar reveal... which is not always right when the video is approved for loads of business or marketing or development reasons. So to respond to your statement BasilKarlo: One does not simply edit videos.
You might be surprised what small teams can accomplish. Our PR, marketing, **community**, business development, HR, recruitment, analytics and editing teams are all small (think 2-4 people) but mighty. We all have amazing support structures, and an awesome studio culture to back each other though.
Back to the topic of the thread. There is definitely more game information to come in the months ahead so I apologize again for the disappointment, but I hope you find it's worth the wait
