I do wonder if there won't be more than the four romance options depending on race. I mean it would seem strange if Iron Bull wasn't available to qunari Inquisitors... well, maybe not STRANGE depending on Iron Bull's own ideals but it would seem like a missed opportunity.

Then again Iron Bull could be available to all inquisitors for all I know.

Unless they take the ME3 approach and throw in a couple of npcs (like Cortez and Traynor).

Which were written pretty well in my opinion, although granted, I did romance Kaidan instead of Steve. My only problem with the NPC romances is that you would miss the chance to really banter with them in the party, when you are out exploring. In that regard, I found them lacking.

Well, I personally found Traynor/Cortez's romance arcs to be lacking in comparison to the in-party LIs, but that's just my opinion.

Traynor did seem less in my opinion. Cortez was better, but I found it near impossible to romance him. I adored him, but after losing his husband I felt he needed a friend before he needed a partner... and knowing Shepard would die at the end made it seem especially cruel. (You know, ignoring the breathing bit if you go for the destroy ending.)   :?

I never romanced them, so I can't say. I don't think the DA team would so the same though.
I'm in favour of 6 LI (regardless if all in the party or not) if all the romance paths are well-done. If not, stick with 4.

I agree, and it'd be probably a bigger problem with DAI than ME3.

Actually, now that I think about it, I imagine how DAI is set up would make it really hard to do this. In ME we have the Normandy, but in DAI it looks like we'll have a camp, all these different keeps, and a castle. We won't really be using the same location as our go-to base all the time, so having the LI stuck at the castle would probably mean a lot of missed conversations/reactions to our decisions.

That's what I was thinking too, we'd have to keep going back on ourselves all the time just to see them... I mean, I totally do it, but it's still a bit of a pain in the arse. Unless we'll only be getting the one main hub again... which seems silly and kinda disappointing.

I agree. I guess we'll have to wait for when Bioware announce the rest to the cast, which considering there's still 6 to go might mean a lot of time.

Exactly. Regardless of whether or not Cullen is an LI, I'd still prefer him to be a companion and not an npc because I want to take him out in the world, give him the chance to experience life outside the circle and form opinions based on first hand experiences and not just what the Chantry taught him.

I was under the impression we'd be getting mini hubs but also THE hub.

That seems the logical approach, I don't think they've confirmed either way yet? Unless I've missed something!

I think so. The various keeps would be the 'mini' (since they're not that smaller :D) hubs.
I admit I'm really interested to see the main hub.

I remember that in an interview Cameron talked about something 'bigger than the keeps' that I think was the main base of general Inquisition. Which, if it's the location seen in some concepts, Seems to have some kind of hidden power.

About the number of companions, I don't see the big issue. DAO had 8 companions (Shale was supposed to be in the vanilla game) plus Loghain and Dog. DA2 had 8 companions plus Sebastian (dlc). We only have one more companions in the vanilla game in comparison of the previous games.

That's sort of the problem. Sten, Oghren and Wynne were all sort of flat to me; Aveline and Varric were far better nonromanceable companions. And Bethany and Carver weren't present for over half the game, and Bethany definitely got the short end of the stick in terms of character development.

I think the problems you had were subjective. I didn't have a problem with the companions you mentioned , though I don't understand your point about Varric and Aveline.
And in the case of the siblings, DA2 was a smaller game with a shorter dev time.

Well, DAI will be about 3 years-ish, right? Sooooo, that's gotta count for something, I hope.

DAI has been in development for over four years now actually I think.

I know development started before DA2 was released. Unless I'm misremembering?

Wasn't the bulk of that just them gettting to grips with the Frostbite engine?

It was in development on May 2011 so I'd say it has a lot more dev time than ME games.

I'm putting together the last few bits of that Cullen FAQ and I just wanted to verify with other people and not just project my own feelings onto it... It's not really a stretch to suggest Cullen respects Hawke regardless of what side of the mage/templar debate they are on?

I am on the "Why did he let me go, I sided with mages" bit.

I know that we don't really know what was going through his head at the time (about 10 different things probably) but I'd imagine his respect for Hawke may have been a deciding factor in why he backed off.

I don't think "afraid to die" is exactly a valid reason to put either, since he wasn't sitting in the corner sucking his thumb during the Meredith fight. I know a lot of people suggest that being a reason, but eh.

Yes I think we need to.

In the romance thread someone commented on one of my posts that Baldy is written by Gaider. I'm not convinced he is, but if David has written him, it could mean he's a LI. Especially if Cole is also in the game, since he confirmed he's basically a child, to mess with Curry Art.
