I'm putting together the last few bits of that Cullen FAQ and I just wanted to verify with other people and not just project my own feelings onto it... It's not really a stretch to suggest Cullen respects Hawke regardless of what side of the mage/templar debate they are on?

I am on the "Why did he let me go, I sided with mages" bit.

I know that we don't really know what was going through his head at the time (about 10 different things probably) but I'd imagine his respect for Hawke may have been a deciding factor in why he backed off.

I don't think "afraid to die" is exactly a valid reason to put either, since he wasn't sitting in the corner sucking his thumb during the Meredith fight. I know a lot of people suggest that being a reason, but eh.

In my opinion, I'd say the answer to this question is purely speculation. We've heard every possible angle, good and bad. He respected Hawke. He was scared of Hawke. He was biding his time to track down Hawke later. I think his motives are in the eye of the beholder, particularly since there are so many unanswered questions about what would have happened next.

So, if you're asking, my opinion would be that that's not FAQ material; I'd really keep it as factual and neutral as possible if you want to answer genuine questions. If you want to put it in there, I'd just say, no one knows.

(edit: sorry, seems a rogue sentence that wasn't mine ended up in the middle there! whoops!)

I think (And this really means this is just my opinion about this*grin*) that Cullen lets Mage-siding Hawke walk away (Even with Anders in the party) because right at that moment, he has much much bigger problems.  And to push the "let's arrest Hawke" issue would do the opposite of trying to restore order. I think also that he realizes right at that moment that his opinion of all the events in Kirkwall in the last 5ish years is likely tainted by trusting a woman who was dangerously insane so he's maybe not even sure how accurate his opinions are, colored by that.

I'm thinking that our lovely Ser Cullen let Hawke go so he'd have one less thing to worry/think about right that moment. I also think (and this part is pure headcanon) that he had to be having at least a bit of a nervous damn breakdown in his head right then as he processed everything.

Edited to add: I don't think he was at all afraid to die. Say what you will about every other aspect of the character, but that dude does not suffer from cowardice. At.All.

How many companions did Gaider wrote?

Cassandra is confirmed. I suppose Cole is one of the as well. Just wonder who the last one is. A male character seems likely.

I believe Mr. Gaider confirmed that he wrote two characters-- and had to re-write a third? Possibly? Maybe? I can't quite remember and can't find the quote now -- and that two of them were romances. I'm pretty sure he said he wrote two of the romances. Which is a pretty good indication that Cassandra is an LI, I think.  :wizard:

Did somebody finally track this down? My recollection is that he confirmed he is writing two followers, and two romances. One follower is Cassandra, one follower is the re-write. He also acknowledged that he's writing Morrigan again.

I totally never saw those cutscenes where Hawke sides with the templars, that was eye opening. Every time I try to do a Templar sided playthrough I wimp out cause I don't wanna kill Anders, or make him side with them. I guess I can just let him run off, but still I hate losing my companions.

So yes I finally woke up... it's Saturday, and I was out last night; I had to sleep in :P

Regarding the bald elf -- (I'm a little hangry [hungry + angry = hangry] so I will put in spoilers if you don't want to read)

Spoiler

Okay, well that's all I have to say about that :P

Personally, I do not feel Bald Elf's chances were any less than Cullen's at being made a companion, so his inclusion doesn't disturb me. We have three slots left, assuming Beardy and Sera are indeed in. I believe one of those is Iron Bull. The other is either Cole or Cullen.

I do not believe we will have any NEW, previously unheard of or unseen characters like Vivienne. Otherwise, they wouldn't have leaked Sera, Beardy, and Baldy.

I can't believe how hard it is trying to get through the fight to the Gallows without a healer!

Make sure he is full rival, cause otherwise he'll show up again and you have to kill him.  B)

Could someone ask one of the devs who wrote the Bald Elf please?

Tell you what: once you can ask about a character by name we will consider saying who worked on them.

In regards to Cullen backing off, I've always wondered if this was supposed to be a parallel to the situation that occurred years previous between Malcolm Hawke and his Templar friend (doubly so if your Hawke is a mage or Bethany is still alive).

So, if you're asking, my opinion would be that that's not FAQ material; I'd really keep it as factual and neutral as possible if you want to answer genuine questions. If you want to put it in there, I'd just say, no one knows.

That's how I felt as well, but I still wanted to see other's opinions on it too. I left it off with a simple "We don't know." That'll have to do for now.

I'd roll with this in my head, it'd make some sense.

I love dude. I really think all the worry and stress about this elven fella, when, as Mr. Gaider points out, we don't know ANYTHING about him is silly. Not that people aren't entitled, or that I'm judgy about it-I just worry that if some folks are this stressed out now, holy balls, how's it going to be as we get closer to release?

I'm all about erring on the side of mellow. :)

I think calling people silly and then saying you're not judging is, um, well, it doesn't quite link up

Of course people are stressed out; I'm stressed out as well as excited because I'm a raging Dragon Age fanatic; I can't help myself

Oh rogues are tricky! It's ridiculous how many times my archer Hawke was KO'd without Anders in the party,It even became repetitive after a while!(Esp having the others shouting "Hawke is down!Don't you die on me!" all the time! )

I don't remember where the post is either, but didn't he also state that he was writing a character that he'd wanted to write since he started working for BioWare? So, he's written Cassandra, re-written another, and written a 3rd that he's always wanted to write. Or at least that's what I took away from that post.

I hope they release some more information soon, everyone's getting antsy! As lovely as the environment video was, there was very little in there to speculate on.
