I like the name Rhys, too. Btw, how do you guys pronounce it? I rhyme it with Bliss. I bet it's "Reese" though...
Yeah, it's Reese.

Yeah and I laugh when real people have that name too. It's not my fault I'm a horrible person.
You actually knew someone with the name Rhys?
Yeah, it's Reese.
Oh man, really?? I hate it when that happens. I don't think I can pronounce it that way after doing it the other way for so long *finger to chin*
Yeah, it's Reese.
So that is the way you're supposed to pronounce it? That's how I say it, um, in my head, but I figured it probably had some more convoluted Welsh way of pronouncing it. (like when I try to pronounce Ioan Gruffudd... yeeeaaah, right, um no...)

Batteries, I think it's great. Thanks for being so thorough and taking the time to write it and seek input!
If you're still looking for feedback, there a couple of places that I think it sounds a little adversarial. "Sorry, but you are not going to win this. " "*Okay, fine, he’s in DAII...""I do not believe this needs much more explanation." If you really want someone Cullen-curious to read it, I don't think you want to put them on the defensive.
Also, I don't think I'd put the creepy thing in there at all. It doesn't really add extra information and just perpetuates the misinformation. Unless you want to address head on the creepy comments made by DG, but then it needs a lot more information and citations.
On the rapes... I don't know that this is directly addressed in the Thedas UK interview that you cite. Unless there's another link where DG actually says "nein," I would address this more directly, like, "DG says he's a good guy, which doesn't seem consistent with raping people."
Tiny quibble on the Bethany part. “hope they are not true.” I'd either take hope out of the quote, and say "hopes" or write it inside the quote as hope[s]. The improper tense drives me crazy.
On the Right of Annulment, I'd go ahead and say that he even goes so far as to question directly the use of the Right, comparing it to Kinloch Hold.
On why he stands up to Meredith, you might even include his quote about how what she's doing "is not what the Order stands for." He doesn't say "don't kill Hawke because it's wrong," or whatever some people try to say, he says he thinks Meredith's gone so far that she's breaking the Order's tenets. He says something similar in ambient dialogue earlier, how he's not sure if he's following Meredith or the Order anymore and how they may no longer be one and the same.
I was channeling BSN so hard when I initially wrote it, it was difficult not to put in the passive aggressiveness. ![]()

I do understand what you mean and have edited the post. I also apologize about the poor grammar, I did not catch that when I scanned over it. ![]()
I would like to start on a more fan-based subjective one too. One more "So why is he so popular?" "Possible role in Inquisition" ect.
With that I don't know if I want to just add in the general consensus of "we like his possible plot points" ect, or actually start a post, have people quote it, edit it with their own short but sweet input and go from there. Later it can all be edited to a grand master list. I feel like that may make it more personable and put some [virtual] faces behind the many reasons a lot of us like him.
Maybe even tackle some of the more... Controversial "fangirl" issues? Some people here think he's hot, some don't, and others really don't give a rat's ass and that's all okay. Honestly that issue it always going to plague female fans no matter what anyone may write, regardless. ![]()
Several. Real and fictional. Including a teacher, (real life by the way), and Gwen's husband from Torchwood.
Torchwood is the first place I'd heard it pronounced. ![]()
LOL I totally understand the inclination. Anyhoo, just my two cents, thinking about how the folks who might actually read it are probably not the aggro ones anyway. Sadly!I was channeling BSN so hard when I initially wrote it, it was difficult not to put in the passive aggressiveness.

LOL You're a braver man than I am, Gunga Din!I would like to start on a more fan-based subjective one too. One more "So why is he so popular?" "Possible role in Inquisition" ect.

I can't wait until the FAQ is done; we can just bust into those Cullen threads and toss out the link. Nothing further needed.
Welsh is tricky. Jimmy Carr had some good advice I think which is to try and sound confused when you do a Welsh accent, with the phrase "Who's coat is that jacket?". I also find it's usually helpful to stress the last syllable of each word. Oh and remember that double l tends to make a 'cl' sound and double d (hehe) is a 'th' sound. So Ioan Gruffudd, (also spelt Gruffydd I think), is Yo-ANN Griffith.
Thanks! It's the Yo-ANN part I can never remember! I think the first time I ran across Welsh spelling/pronounciation was a fantasy book that had a pronounciation guide... If only life had one! LOL

Um, this was meant as a joke, right?
I wouldn't be lying if I said I was a bit bored too. ![]()

Man I'm realizing that the "like" button is becoming my lazy go-to response. By hitting "like" I don't have to actually respond to the person.
Kudos and Touche to everyone who hit "like" to this ![]()
A handy write-up someone did:
So to update our current companion count:
Varric - male dwarf rogue (confirmed)
Cassandra - female human warrior (confirmed)
Vivienne - female human mage (confirmed)
Grey Warden - male human warrior (semi-confirmed through gameplay footage)
"Sera" - female elf rogue (?) (semi-confirmed through gameplay footage - name speculated from character survey)
Bald Elf Guy - male elf mage (semi-confirmed through gameplay footage)
"Iron Bull" - male qunari warrior (?) rogue (?) - speculated from concept art and character survey
Cullen - male human warrior - speculated from concept art, character survey, and voice actor confirmation
Cole - male spirit rogue (?) mage (?) - speculated from character survey
Dorian - male race unknown mage - speculated from character survey
Moustached Gentleman - male human warrior (?) mage (?) - speculated from concept art and character survey
And what to take from this:
We know that there will be about the same number of companions. I've seen 9 bandied about, but I'm not sure if that's been confirmed. There are 11 people listed above, so it's likely that at least two of them are not companions. It's also possible that more than that aren't and there might be other companions that we haven't seen at all yet.
As of right now, we have 6 companions at least "semi"-confirmed because we've seen them all as companions in gameplay footage. That count is 3 males, 3 females; 2 warriors, 2 rogues, and 2 mages; 3 humans, 2 elves, and 1 dwarf.
Seems pretty balanced. I'm anxiously waiting for more tidbits to finally figure out who our remaining companions will be!
I wish we had that write-up which speculated who was writing whom.
I wonder if people will actually read this thing being put together? Obviously the haters wouldn't, but I hope people that are genuinely curious would take a look.

Yeah it'll probably be most useful for people who enter this thread AFTER one of those epic "I hate Cullen" threads, saying they don't like Cullen but are curious about us and decided to drop by.
Maybe we should also right one about why we like him as a collective, like a complied list or something?
Yeah I don't think Dorian or Mr Moustachios will be companions. And I think Cole will be classed as a rogue with a unique specialisation.
Well, if Dorian isn't our bald elf then we're gonna end up with a real sausage fest going on, LOL!

Like we all type up why we like him?

I don't think they will either because I don't think they will give us more than two mages.
I think Cole, Iron Bull, and Cullen are our remaining characters.
I would gladly trade out Cole for a female character though.
