Hmm... well, if they were to show us... just for example... a certain brawny, curly blonde-headed sword-and-board warrior, but without that distinctive sword of mercy on his chest... yup, I think I'd start to jump to story conclusions.... (*crosses fingers*)LolaLei wrote...
Man, there's been literally no hints or anything from the DA team about DA3, not even any subtle tweets! Maybe they've gone into lock down? Apparently one of the writers Tonia Laird said in the twitter thread that the reason no more concept art has been released is because even that tells a story.
... I thought they were planning on being more transparent and share stuff with us this time round?

LOL Yup, that's what all the "50 shades of grey" readers are thinking... BTW, anyone read it?
Naw, isn't it basically the porn version of Twilight, minus the sparkling vampires?

I think I'd pee my pants!
They could show us some concept weapons or what they new Darkspawn will look like, since there's bound to be some some still lurking around up top.

I keep hearing that name, is it one of those "Romance" books or is it a poor attempt at smut? Most of the stuff that's super popular these days are usually crappy...

It was a Twilight fanfic that got changed into a book about some guy thats really into BDSM. Apparently it's a hit
Yeah, the fan community has been rather brutal about its ... quality... but there are a number of women who apparently claim it has invigorated their marriages. LOL Just goes to show that fanfic has broad appeal. The writer even has a movie deal now!
I feel like I should read it just to confirm my opinions about it...

Yeah I heard... Through Anders VA... Who wants to play the main character. Funny what you learn whilst fishing for DA news. :-S

I read it. It was ok for what it was. There wasn't enough action IMO. And by 'action' I mean stuff to move the story along, not hanky panky (which by the way was ok but got stale for me). I'm all for the steamy bits but I require more substance. I REALLY wanted the dude's ex-sub to shoot what's her face just for some drama instead of all the angst. Then at the end when there actually was drama it didn't last but like one page so.... meh. I will say that I loaned the 3 books out to a friend and got them back a month later once they made the rounds through her entire neighborhood. lol

Awesome! I must say, I'm fascinated by the "50 shades of grey" phenomenon. It's such a classic example of the results of a recent psychology study of women's online porn habits which found that the number one source was fanfiction.net. LMAOmeanieweenie wrote...

edit: You know, that's interesting. meanie... would you say it has less story than even a "romance story", i.e. was it basically PWP, or that you would have preferred to be a drama with romance in it? I've been thinking about the story structure of something that's strictly a romance vs. something that's about something else, with romance in it, so this topic interests me...

First, that article was fantastic and I'm going to forward it to my hubby so maybe he'll leave me alone about reading trash! lol
Now let's see if I can attempt to verbalize my feelings on 50 Shades.... it was very psychoanalytical in that the author seemed to spend an aweful lot of time on how Ana was feeling about things. This in itself is not a bad thing. It provided great insight into why she made certain decisions, etc. I felt like there could've been a better balance with the lack of plot. It was like : girl meets guy... guy has issues... sex, sex, sex... here's what everyone's thinking.... more sex.... something happens ... sex.... blah, blah, blah. I don't know.Yes, I would say less story than any random trashy romance novel. (And I actual went and picked one up after reading 50 Shades to see if maybe I was just being harsh... I haven't read a romance novel in 15+ yrs..... nope.) Perhaps the author put more emphasis on certain events in her mind than I did. Something she meant to be a big deal may have been a non-event to me.
I guess I was wanting more of a drama / action / romance. This felt like a sex story where some other stuff happened on the side. It had potential. There were some great ideas that I would've carried much further to highten the urgency and in turn strengthen the characters. Give me an amazing story first so that when sexy time does happen I'm eager for it. Does any of this make sense?

R2 - True enough... but you seem to do a fine job wrangling the beast that is fanfic! Knight's Bloom as an example of a nice balance between the romance and action sequences. There was always something 'happening' which I enjoyed.
Thanks for that!

Actually, if anyone hasn't seen her stuff, she has a whole lot of fun Cullen art with her warden, Jeanne.
