Darn, R2's gone to bed. Has anyone written post-DA2, Inquisition-period Cullen? I was so nervous about making ridiculous suppositions, and showing that I'm definitely not a lore nerd, that I actually made my fic super AU and was like calling Orlais "Orlea" and the Divine "Her Majesty" and stuff lol But I wonder if it would be okay to just call it like it is, and stop being so nervous.
I know it's impossible to know what and who Cullen will be in the game. I just feel nervous about definitively placing him ANYWHERE.
Also I'm afraid I made glaring lore mistakes.
Agree with Lorien, I wouldn't worry about it so much.
First, everyone will know it's speculation if it's written after DA2, so really, so long as it's plausible, anything goes. You could just make a point of saying you wrote it before the game came out so when folks read it in the future, they know. FWIW, almost everything I've ever written is post-DA2, and I've never once been told I was 'wrong.' Besides, just because you didn't predict everything about the new game, doesn't mean it isn't still a great story.
Second, I wouldn't worry so much about the lore in general. Like Lorien said, no one gets it perfect. Plus, there's no way you could be 100% lore compliant since most RL stuff is never explained in game. I have to make sh!it up all the time, like how healing really works, what magic looks like, what powers a Seeker might have. My opinion is that if you sell it right for your story, then it's right for your story. Yeah, you could run into the odd purist who could take you to task for saying 'hell' instead of 'void,' but eh, who cares. I mean, the characters shouldn't technically be speaking English, anyway, right? [edit: and, I don't mean to belittle your concern; I agonized over including pockets! but, hey, I figure, it's my story.

Third, you can see the proper addresses for the Divine and the other clergy in the DA wiki codex on " Chantry Hierarchy." So that's not one you have to make up. ![]()
So, I'd say, go hog wild and talk about Orlais! W000t!!
