It's hard to believe that the game is still in pre-alpha when it looks so pretty. I mean, you can tell with things like the companions hair, but the environments are so stunning already that it's hard to imagine how much better it'll look when it ships!

If you watch it in higher resolution, and look at every templar, you can see that it's really just the exact same templar insignia, the sword of mercy. In many cases twisted, since the breastplates just don't move as a solid body, as they didn't in DA2. The upper part of the sword of mercy is covered for every red templar by a red glowing line. Plus note that the red templars don't have flames in all four corners, like that square cross heraldry does above. The red templars have the wavy lines on the top left and right, but it's not mirrored in lower left and right.

So I've been off the forums for a day or two and trying to catch up with this thread is crazy. I gave up with 10 pages left to read!

 

I just wanted to say you've all been crazy creative lately.  It's awesome.      So much love for Dragon Age things being expressed in such varied ways, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about the fandom.

Idk, i still kinda see the cross thing. But you could be right, it could easily be something they're just experimenting with. We'll just see when the game comes out i guess.

I am still curious what the square cross symbol is, esp since they had it in the rings on the Web site. Must be something significant. But, I've photoshopped so many pics of templar armor up to this point in my life now... I'll eat my hat if what we see on the red templars in the demo is not the sword of mercy.   Anyhoo, time will tell.

Well, for one, the flags are red. Not saying that means anything, but ya never know when they decide to do something simple:

Yeah, that's something I was thinking, too, that the colors on the keep are a bit different than we've seen, i.e. REDDER. I can't wait for them to clear up how many factions of templars we'll have, since we know from WoT that not all have completely split from the Chantry. Hard to say how the red templars come into play with the newly Independent templars, or whatever we should be calling them. 

 

We did see one concept art of templars in action, still with the 'usual' DA2 uniform.  Of course, who they are is anyone's guess. This is def what I imagine the post-Lambert Templars doing, tho, chasing down and killing the mages who've fled the Circles.

Yup!It's still downloading though...I made the horrible mistake to uninstall it the first time.May I ask which alliance have you chosen?
