Well, it was more hating everyone I saw onscreen, but it's incredibly frilly, pretentious and arrogant about things that don't matter in the slightest. In addition to absurd racism, of course.

We already sort of know about the important of appearance and the fashion in Orlais. I liked Celene's point of opening the university to commoners (though I can already see the problem of her view in the book).
About racism, I don't know what is Celene's point so I'll hold on that. The tale was something I'd expect. The Orlesians view the events of the Dales' fall with the elf being at fault (as the dalish view the humans at fault), and the attack on Shartan was obvious to happen.
Of course it doesn't make it good, but considering both sides' views on the events, I wasn't expecting that they'd treat and talk the other with respect.
Edit: and I kind of think that Celene might say that Having an elf student doesn't mean that the university is open to commoners/elves, since it portrays an elven hero in a mortifying matter.
