Yeah likewise with the confliction! If I'm rooting for that romance, how can I root for a PC romance too?

Like much as I adore Varric, I can't romance him because I ship him with Cassandra and wouldn't want to come between them. :P

Yeah, I have that problem with Varric as well. Now I know who Bianca was and that she could still be alive I wanna get them back together (if she's not an uber b!tch), so even if Cullen isn't romanceable and Varric is, I still couldn't romance him.

I'd still romance them all  but yeah, I see the point about lack of book Cullen. Still, it'd be nice to get -some- sorta status update. It's like, I think they're holding off on him last because of his controversial companion-iness, and on the other hand, could be holding off telling us anything because he's not, and they have their preconceived notions of us being pitchfork carrying torch wielding mobs.

If he's not, I think it'd be alot nicer of them to tell us. Seems simpler and less-spoilerish to say who isn't a companion. Unless he is, indeed, a companion.

Also, if any new companions are in the book, I'm betting on them releasing new companion things afterwards, to coincide with the book reveal.

I can imagine what will happen to the forums when or if Cullen is offcially assigned companion status "Uh this so fanservice", "BioWare is pandering to their fans" "Cullen's nose is one millimetre to the left he's hideous", "Yay Cullen :3" "BioWare's retconned Cullen, they've pulled an Anders", "God don't these Cullen fans shut up", "Cullen fans are completely addicted to Cullen this is like Tali's sweat again"

And that's how it shall go.

I expect that regardless of the possible announcments of new companions in April, the discussions in the forum might be dominatore by the events of TMK, since it directly affects the starting situation in Orlais.

Either way we should expect trouble. If he's a companion we'll get the "fan service" crap, along with the whole "I'm going to kill Cullen blah blah" from the haters, but on the flip side, if he isn't then we'll get people coming in to gloat "lol, poor little fan girls didn't get Cullen, BioWare knows what's up! Trolololololo!"

I'd prefer the former, at least we would have still got our way.

I wouldn't expect Cullen to be a major player in a  book like this either. It would take some plot to explain what the heck he'd be doing in Orlais anyway, and that undoubtedly would be too much. But there could have been some oblique mention of him, like Anders's mention in Asunder or a short cameo like Leliana's. It's still important to **know**.  ;) Due diligence, and all that.

I kinda hope for an option (if Cullen is a companion and LI) for him to die, not for malice but for the emotional rollercoaster because there's a high chance if he's in that I will romance him, I know it'll make me feel bad but still it'll be enjoyable similar to the Dark Ritual when I romanced Morrigan for my first playthrough even though I felt like hell after the ritual. I still enjoyed, there was a little masochist in me that enjoyed being crushed like that and that's probably why I love Dragon Age and inspires me to write because it's not afraid to hit you where it hurts.

I feel exactly like this-If they'd just let us know if he's *not* a companion, we can be sad for a few pages of this thread, then move back on to be excited about (and sometimes argue about *grin*) the rest of the new stuff. :D

To be honest, I am expecting that either way it goes we are gonna have trolls floating in here more frequently to give us sh*t. At least we have our bomb shelter.

The shelter will be good expecially when the forum will become a spoiler zone <_<.
Today I'm not particular tolerant on people who spoil things without warnings.

And don't forget the "ignore" function :) I've already added like 10 people to my list. My BSN viewing experience is that much more pleasant :D Think how hilarious it will be if trolls pop in here to be jerks then realize no one is responding to them LOL!

The plot sounds very interesting indeed,(I tried very hard to avoid the spoiler tags,I really tried but nope). And from what I read in here so far,I know that I'm definitely buying this!

Hell, if it gives us some sort of plot set up/idea of the situation prior to the veil rip in DAI then I'd read it even if it was terrible!

Oh, missed the preview on Amazon, but could not resist the spoiler tags here :P Think I know what to ask for on my birthday... (even though that is in September...) I personally don't mind at all that Cullen is not mentioned in the book. It would probably be a bit farfetched to stuff him in there. And who knows... I think it makes his changes for lots of screentime in DA:I more likely, I think.

Neither do I tbh,Besides the veil tear I want to know what happened in Kirkwall after the battle with Meredith. There are only a few references in asunder(and may be in the masked empire as well)...I wonder what happened to Cullen and the templars who let a mage Hawke go(in my scenario anyway).
Even if Hawke wasn't a mage his association with Anders makes him a controversial figure, for anyone who haven't seen what happened firsthand, especially if he sided with the mages.
I don't doubt we will find out what happened eventually in game,(esp if Cullen is a companion)but I'm starting to think there might be a reason we haven't heard anything until now...Hopefully a good one!
