I think that will depend, on the circumstances we'll attend this ball and the type of mission we'll have,if we go there to infiltrate a particular faction and have to disguise ourselves as guests,I doubt he will wear something templar related, otherwise he'll blow our cover.

Yeah... now I'm imagining him *ALWAYS* wearing something templar related... like sword of mercy on his undies, because, you know, it's regulation. :D

on a slightly more serious note, I actually tend to head canon this, that every stitch of clothing he owns is templar issue, down to his skivvies. It reminds me of a dude I dated who told me that when he was at the Air Force Academy they had to constantly wear something with "Air Force" on it. So that's why they made so many rugby tshirts, since those also worked.

I have no idea if this is true beyond "hottie, jerkoff exboyfriend says" but it's what I think of when I imagine Cullen's limited wardrobe uniformly bearing the sword of mercy.

well they dont have to wear "military underwear "  that much I know form my husband who was in the army as long as your not working u are free to wear whatever you want, but like for PT or basic training or AIT you have to wear specific military  clothes (but once again not really underware I have yet to see army / military underwear that is mandatory to wear lol )

I fully expect the ball to end badly... like, really badly. Bodies everywhere, blood on the dance floor, cake on the ceiling. That sort of thing!

While this is likely true, I hope my Inquisitor gets a chance to dance with someone before all hell breaks loose. Whether it's the love interest or just Varric as a friend or something... my Inquisitor needs to get her groove on!

Well, Cullenites, I am very disappointed that I got to the bottom of the thread and no one made a snarky innuendo about Cullen's "sword of mercy" in his underwear.

Sorry. The "Sword of Mercy" gag inspired a funny scene in my brain that I wrote up. :P

I would tend to think so too, for a slightly different reason - I get the feeling Cullen doesn't (or at least didn't during the Kirkwall years) have a very good work/life balance. Outside of work hours I see him doing a lot of extra training and visiting the chantry, etc. Not a lot of non-templar stuff. So I tend to see him as someone who wouldn't see much need to invest in civvies because he's not having much of a civilian life anyway.

Mm interesting...I have a headcanon that templars have to embroider the sword of mercy on their clothes by  themselves.

I think he would, otherwise this would make the sword training while wearing armor, extremely uncomfortable..

I suppose that could be  "debated" to a certain extent... cause I mean Aveline's husband was a templar and he got to marry her,  I dont really think it was during his duty hours as a templar... Im sure they get "some " time off  cause otherwise they wouldnt be able to stay awake  for 24/7  Im sure that some visit their families and whatnot...personally I just dont think its that "closed: like how the mages are I believe the templars have a lil bit more freedom then that

Oh, I'm sure templars in general have time off, I just see Cullen in particular as a workaholic.  ;)

I stared at this comment for about five minutes before I figured out where our signals got crossed.  ;)

I said civvies (civilian clothes) not skivvies (underwear). I'm sure Cullen does wear undies of some sort! Hahaha!

All too well!

(I never realized I was a caffeine addict until I had to have fasting bloodwork this fall. Then it was, "Why am I so grumpy? And... why are my feet twitching?" I clearly could quit at any time. Clearly.  ;))

Caffeine is a life saviour though  :D ...Especially during exams, and especially when you have loads of homework and studying to do.

I find it's pretty much a necessity for dealing with the antics of the mentally ill adolescents one is responsible for, also.  ;)

Random fly by question:  If presented with the opportunity (or forced into it via circumstance) do you think Cullen would become a Grey Warden?

Hail Mary research here, but I've been thinking about it and him and I'm not 100% he'd be very gung ho about it.  I can't put my finger exactly on why, but I'd like the threads' thoughts.  Thanks!

I think he'd accept it over certain death. So if he had Blight sickness, I could see him going through the Joining. If he had a choice and honor demanded he Join? I'm not sure. He seems like an honorable guy but I don't know how much that would hold out against the idea of abandoning his duties as a templar. Either way, I doubt he'd be eager to do it. But once it was done, he might warm up to the sense of purpose the Grey Wardens have. At his core, I think that's what drives Cullen on most. I think he probably doesn't even realize that it's not that he believes in the Chantry and its view of mages exactly, but that he clings to something that gives him purpose, something that often seems to clash with his own internal moral compass but which is all he's known. Once that is supplanted with a new purpose, he may warm to it. Just my thoughts on it.

I do think Cullen could be coerced, forced, or under the right circumstances maybe convinced to become a Grey Warden.

I don't think he'd be thrilled about it, though - the Joining ritual could be seen as right on the borderline of blood magic and I don't think he'd be comfortable taking the Darkspawn Taint into his body.

I could see it happening, I just think it would take a lot and Cullen wouldn't be very willing. Fighting Darkspawn, sure... just not as a Warden because of all being a Warden entails.

I think for Cullen it always ultimately comes down to doing what is "Right" with a capital-R. If becoming a Grey Warden is the One Thing he has to do to do his part to save the world, then I believe he'd do it. So long as it doesn't conflict with his faith.
