You know, I just had a thought. I've played around in my head about how much people in Thedas "know" about what happened in Asunder, i.e., is it known that the Divine was kinda pro-mage? If it is known or, say, more insidiously, just rumored, I wonder how that might crumble support for the Chantry. I mean, if the Divine herself suddenly is seen as a hypocrite about the whole mage situation? Then, some other group comes in to fill the void, "don't worry, we'll protect you from the eeviiilll mage threat"?  Hmm, could be interesting.

LOL I suppose the lyrium addiction thing would be political (I was thinking more "Andraste was a mage" kinda thing for "sacrilegious"). And cool! Heh heh. But then, if most of Thedas doesn't give a crap about the templars, like Cullen seems to think, then I also wonder how shocking the lyrium addiction reveal would be.

Whatever it is, I'd love to see the Chantry on the ropes. I find it unlikely that we'd see a total collapse of that institution, but seeing it reorganized, or seeing it threatened by the rise of the Black Divine or something like that. Like, suddenly dragon cults pop up everywhere, and the common people are joining in droves (like end of the world cult kinda thing), and the Chantry is scrambling against this threat to its supremacy and piggy bank. Something like that would be cool.

You know... given Mark Darrah's very particular tap dancing on the subject of the Inquisitor being "against the Chantry" in his/her goals, I almost wonder if that's the sort of things we're headed for.

As dire as the situation may seem for this game, I do think the Chantry is going to be challenged even more in the next installment. I have a suspicion that DAI will end with a scene of a crap ton of Qunari dreadnoughts on the horizon, heading towards Minrathous. This kind of situation will be something that would force both Chantries to work together again, which would be another great chance for the White Chantry to redefine itself and grow as an entity.

That would also be cool. I do get a 'drop everything, we have bigger fish to fry' kind of a vibe from DA:I overall. Unfortunately, I doubt the (inevitable) Qunari invasion is it this round, but I also feel like that's something we're going to see at some point in the Dragon Age.

That's true. Mind you, if they want to show us a bit more of the Templars "plight" and the more moderate individuals then something like the lyrium revelation and how the Templars/Seekers deal with that etc could make for an interesting new perspective.

I guess it all depends on what the devs want to show us.

Well, only Lambert would have known that Leliana was involved, if anyone. Otherwise, no one would be aware of Justinia's direct involvement. Ergo, only Templars and Seekers that rebelled who would know the truth of the situation. Justinia's an Orlesian who knows how to play the Game. She probably knew what she was getting into, and she's probably been doing a lot of damage control on the situation. I think the Chantry will be fine. And considering the Veil shreds presumably soon after Asunder, people are going to be clinging to their faith like lanterns in this darkness.

That would be a nice thing to see, says the pro-templar fan. :D I think it's high time they spend some time humanizing the templars, TBH.

True, and I think at the very least, we get a Seeker perspective from Cassandra. And even if we don't get Cullen, I would like to be introduced some more moderate Templars who kind of just get caught up in this whole mess, to perhaps give a more humanizing element to the Order, says the pro-mage.

This is kinda what I was thinking... until World of Thedas included this fact in their timeline of those events. Of course, it's impossible to tell if the "facts" in there are intended to be common knowledge or not, but certainly the Chantry lore entries are written that way. I guess we'll have to see when  DA:I comes out and we can read the codex entry on it. DERP! I suppose we could get some sense in Masked Empire... depending on when it ends...

Also keep in mind that Lambert wrote about his "suspicions" in his letter to Justinia breaking the Accord. Hard to say how widely read something like that would be. A private letter, but one of earthshattering historical import.

Hmmm, if that actually got out, it's difficult to say what will happen. I am unsure as how to well liked Justinia necessarily is. While some will inevitably feel threatened by what she has done, I'm curious to know who would still support her. My bet is that Celene would, and that could bolster the position of the Divine.

Is it bad that I want her to get killed? Not because I dislike her, I just like the idea of the drama it would cause, LOL!

It would certainly turn Thedas on its head.

As for the Veil tears, I'm betting that a lot of people are gonna be pointing fingers at Tevinter, blaming them for this mess.

This is all why I want her to live (despite the hints we got of Big Bad Explosion at the Chantry in the survey leak). She's been such an unconventional choice for Divine since the beginning that I always imagine her support within the Chantry ranks being tenuous anyway. This could be the last straw, you know? Heh, Chantry conclave, ousts Justinia for frakking up everything with the templars, Justinia's looking for a way to clear her name... and needs a job. #JustiniaAKADorotheaForCompanion #semiconfirmedrumor  ;)

(and now I include my disclaimer that I adore her as a character, what little we know, and I'm incensed that FF.net doesn't have a Justinia tag LOL)

Talking about Cullen and the Chantry etc really makes me hope that some dirty secrets come out (stuff like the Alistair's theory that they use the lyrium addiction as a way to keep control of the Templars, or that Andraste was a mage etc). Mainly because I'd like to see how the people of Thedas react to those types of revelations in general, especially people like Cullen, Cassandra, Leliana etc who's life pretty much is the Chantry, lol.

That being said, I doubt we'd get anything like that in DAI, seems more like a catalyst that would occur the the final DA game, simply because revelations that could potentially bring down the Chantry would be used as the next "ages" namesake.

Laaaaate on this, as always, but I think Leliana would handle it the best out of those three. She has that unconventional belief that the maker never left and is still there watching over his children and that he loves every single one of them, after all. So, I don't think Andraste being a mage would shake her faith. And she would likely frown on controlling the Templars through addiction, but also be able to see a pragmatic side of it simply because of her Bard training and how she's used to Orlais and it's cut throat ways.

And I would be surprised if the seekers didn't already know about how Templars don't REALLY need lyrium to use their abilities and the like-- unless that's changed since DA:O.

Edit: And Gosh darnit this chat became interesting while I was away. orz

Tevinter Chantry is black and the other one is White. Consider the Tevinter one the exact opposite of the white.

oh I see, soo this may be a stupid question but is the "black chantry" run by mages over there ? Do they even worship Andraste and stuff like that or do they have their own beliefs?

Ooh my mistake it's Imperial Chantry and the Black Divine. http://dragonage.wik...mperial_Chantry

It's mage ruled and predominately male run. They do believe in Andraste they just interpret the rules differently. Actually just read the thing I'm actually learning stuff myself from it.
