Maybe this new Warden related novel will reveal some dark things about the Warden's that'll be relevant in DAI? Like practices or hidden things that come to light in Thedas' current situation? Especially if we are to actually have a Grey Warden companion.

YES. GIMME DAT BEARDED WARDEN. The devs have said that many important characters will come to join our cause. We have the Right Hand of the Divine, a First Enchanter, the leader of a spy network/friend to Kirkwall's Champion, so perhaps that gorgeous bearded hottie is a Warden Commander of...Orlais? Or Nevarra? Or the Free Marches?

ohmyfreakingod, LOGHAIN!!! pleasepleaseplease

So, just going to mention that Steve Vallentine said on Twitter he didn't think he'd be in DAI.
1. Nobody will cameo.
2. Only Loghain will cameo and not Alistair.
3. Alistair will have a new voice actor.
4. They just haven't asked Steve yet.

...

:)

5. He knew people wouldn't stop asking him until he said one way or the other and he'd get in trouble for saying the truth, so he made something up :)

Naw, they'd never give Alistair a new voice actor, people would throw a sh!t fit, LOL! I reckon they just hadn't got around to asking him when he tweeted about it.

The tweet mentioned Loghain's VA and heavily implied that he's working on DAI.

I heard he voiced a few characters besides Loghain. I doubt they'd be important enough to make a return, but there's always a possibility he's just voicing another NPC. Not that I would be opposed to seeing Loghain again.

His voice actor was in the booth today, the dev tweeted about how it was nice working with him again.

Yeah, I mean it's clear that lyrium obviously enhances their skills and grants them access to things like "smite" etc, but you can bet your arse the Chantry have taken full advantage of it's addictive qualities when it comes to controlling the Templars.

Which is why this rebellion and red lyrium thing is so interesting.

And those few who stayed with the chantry still get the supply I assume?

I wonder if they more a templar the more powerful his abilities are? Like is it rationed out, and the higher ranks get more of it? Cuz if so, then the remaining loyal templars would be FUDGING POWERFUL

Yeah, hard to say. I mean, after eight years, Alistair still seems to be able to kick some serious mage butt, if the comics are to be believed, and presumably he's not addicted. Grrr, lyrium lore...  <_<

He never completed his training. I'm guessing that means he never took the lyrium. That or the taint nulls it or something.

Wouldn't it be awesome if he voiced a follower? He's versatile enough to pull it off without delivering it as Loghain v 2.0. Not that I would be opposed to seeing Loghain again, either, but I won't lie. I'd be happy to hear him in any capacity.

LOL obviously, which is why my post was abt Loghain. I don't understand what the quoted Alistair stuff have to do with it. Except that Alistair/Loghain are sort of interchangeable... ?

Harden Alistair, combine the marriage with Anora, spare Loghain. Nobody dies, and Ferelden still has the best outcome (in my opinion) for the throne.

WOW. MOST DIFFICULT OUTCOME EVER. lol

Imma have to try it in one playthough, just to see it.

Though my warden queen is definitely always sitting on the throne... next to her 200000000 children.

Yeah, I would imagine that the Divine/Chantry-loyal Templars will still get their regular lyrium supply.

See, that's another reason why I wonder if the red templars are what became of all those Templars that rebelled under Lambert's orders. If the Chantry really cracked down on the lyrium smugglers then perhaps those smugglers turned to harvesting red lyrium instead, selling it as a more potent "extra strength" version and advertising it to the rebel Templars as a more attractive way to deal with the mage uprising.

The comics retcon that. He stated that he had to restart taking lyrium to use the templar abilities, meaning that he took it before.
Basically, you can use templar abilities after starting taking lyrium, even if you stop using it, but it won't last forever, and you an e to start assuming it again.
The major plothole created by the comics is that he should've suffered from lyrium addiction in DAO.

Meh I preferred it when Lyrium wasn't necessary for everyone. Maybe templars from magical families were able to do so without lyrium. Now it just seems odd my Hawke/Warden would even bother learning templar talents with that bs lyrium addiction that is tied up in it.

I thought the comics were considered not canon? Not like the novels are.

They just follow Bioware's canon. So there's still a Magister called Maevaris who's awesome, Alistair still has Dragonblood and our Sten is most likely the new Arishok, etc.

They're not canon as the events in them would change based on the  choices you made in the games. But the events in them are canon if you followed those choices, so what Alistair said is canon (the story might change based on his role, but what he said about lyrium is true).

I'd honestly do it regardless of the lyrium addiction, since the pros outweights the cons. Plus, it's not like you have to chugh lyrium after lyrium. Asunder shown that you need a potion per week to fix your addiction.

potion per week is still a potion too much for my Hawke's/Wardens. (especially my wardens.). Especially since they can kill mages just fine without templar abilities.

I was based this by the benefits that lorewise the templar abilities give. Gameplay wise I agree that the templar spec isn't necessary.

Even Lorewise though Hawke and the Warden are fully capable of defeating mages without the need for any templar abilities. It's just an unnecessary disadvantage.(The addiction not the abilities).

Well that stinks!  :?  I much preferred the original idea that templars didn't need lyrium to use their abilities but that it made them more powerful/easier and the Chantry only insisted on knights taking it to make them more formidable as well as dependent on the Chantry.
