At the risk of angering all the Shale fans here you're, um, not missing much? Some inside jokes about her really being a girl as well as jokes about smashing that get old pretty quickly. But as with most DA characters (look at poor Anders' placement on mine and Potato's lists, so different LOL), YMMV.

Same, I hardly ever play as mage, so have only had Carver a few times.

Man, I see we are in agreement regarding Varric and Oghren. With Oghren I felt like he was every cliche about a dwarf ever. Varric, really, I'm not saying he's not a great character, and I enjoyed him the first time I played the game, but on subsequent playthroughs I lost interest. Maybe it's because he seems to have no strong opinions about anything whatsoever? Who knows. Brilliant voice acting, that's for sure. And he has a nice "look." So I dunno. It could just be fatigue, you know, seeing him again in DA:I and feeling a bit bitter over it.

Yeah I was really surprised to find that they thought Oghren would be the most popular character. He was just so boring and crude and annoying. Urgh. And Varric bored the hell out me. Have an opinion, for god's sake! I also didn't appreciate his near constant pop culture references. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Tuesday joke or something, but Varric was just really fourth wall breaking I found.

Ok, I've caught up, lol. So, that blog says next Wednesday we'll get more details about Vivienne. Does that mean it's one companion per month? Or have they scrapped the "follower friday" thing for some reason?

It's a companion per month. The 'follower Friday', as it was later specified in the thread in the News forum, is the Friday when they announce the companion that will be featured that month. The newt week they'll release info and screenshots in different days.

I have tried to like Oghren, really I have. Unfortunately, the whole "fall down drunk alcoholic" bit hits way to close to home. Someone very important to me is a severe alcoholic that keeps "falling off the wagon" and it is so hard on everyone around them. It's horrible. Too often alcoholic characters are used as comedic relief and...it's just not funny. 

 

I don't consider Fenris a heavy drinker (still not sure how fandom decided that he does nothing but sit in his mansion and drink). We only ever see him drunk in one scene and even then it's the "last bottle of the Aggregio" when there were only 6 total.

I think it may be due to the situation we find him in (drinking alone at home), and the way Hawke shakes his/her head when s/he sees him, as if this is a common way to find Fenris.

They'll release info on Vivienne till the end of the week (though I think we'll get two other updates only)
They'll do the same the next month, but they stated that the Follower Friday will happen near the end of the month. We won't have news till the third week of April, I believe.

I think it was stated somewhere (don't quote me on this cause I'm not sure, nor have any idea as to the source) that the next companion to be talked about will not be Cass or Varric. Then again I might be mixing that up w/ that cosplay, character costume breakdown thing
