Four? I dearly hope not. Two preferably... I could stand three.
We have 9 confirmed companions, Xil. Not much you can do about it lol

the fact remains that the women so far are beautiful by most societal standards but the men are not.

I've specifically spoken about "traditional" beauty or, as I said above, "beautiful by most societal standards." It can be a difficult concept to grasp, I grant, but think of it like masculinity and femininity. Those concepts do not empirically exist (like beauty) but they are socially constructed, as is beauty.
...snip...
I understand what you are saying and totally agree with you. The women so far hit more of the "norm" of what we in the western world are socialized to understand is beautiful.
I also think the men all are so-so this far. But charm and charisma goes a long way. Personally I am a sucker for the "typical western traditional beauty". Meaning I would like my fantasy love to be super gorgeous in all ways possible. I am super shallow like that I guess. IRL I am not so picky.
I don't know, is that a problem that I want someone like that or that game devs create characters like that? Tricky... I know Alistair was created after extensive research by DG especially to pinpoint what women wanted in a romance. Well done. ^^
What I am saying is I WANT CULLEN!
Sorry NOT sorry!
(BTW - the description of Solas as being sweet/hot makes me extremely curious and expecting something... well sweet, but with a sting
Mr Shiny Bald Head might just cut it...)

Considering the amount of people that brutally tore into Cassandra for her 'masculine' jaw line and sharp features, which, I will admit, am personally aesthetically attracted to because I like me some strong, defining features, I don't believe Cassandra is conventionally beautiful. Her features do tell a story, however, which her designer has already gone over. The sharp angles match her aggression and strength, they tell a story about her character and her personality, and as a designer I personally prefer that to 'these mofos gotta be attractive'.
That's my feels, anyway.
I don't think I have ever yelled or shouted so much in the forums than I did in those early Cassandra threads. Let me tell you, there are some goddamn idiots on this forum.
Damn it. If nothing else, I hope the class ratios are balanced.
Dorian as a third mage would be great; for a third rogue, I don't yet know...

I'm thinking spear guy *could* be the third rogue. I honestly don't have a clue. Here's how I see it shake out
Grey Warden
Iron Bull
Cass
4th Warrior
Varric
Sera
Vivienne
Solas
3rd mage
With the remaining unseen characters, I have no clue at all what stories Bioware has left to tell, since I feel like we have an extremely wide range of backgrounds and personalities.
****** warrior oversaturation. I do not want a fourth one.

But, I want Ser Michel...

All this talk about romance and conventional beauty, and I'm just sittin' here think', "I wanted to romance Wrex so badly in Mass Effect." i believe my opinion should be discarded entirely from this discussion. ![]()

He's a novel character; I don't think those have ever appeared in a major capacity in a Bioware game except for Kai Leng, and you never really talked to him. I don't even know if Fiona will be in the game.

I think it is super-unlikely that we get a third mage. (ALL MAGE PARTY OH NOES.) I think it'll be 4W 3R 2M.
WARRIOR (4)
Cassandra
Iron Bull
?Cullen
?Male (The Grey Warden)
ROGUE (3)
Varric
Sera
?Female
MAGE (2)
Solas
Vivienne

I think Fiona will be, since she is the de facto leader of the mages, and we will definitely be running into their group in DAI.

Don't crush my dreams!

My mind reads this as "I do not want Cullen to have that spot."
Because that seems like the only place where Cullen could go in order to be a companion. We all know him as a warrior-type, and if that slot isn't open, we can kiss our chances of having Cullen in our group good-bye.
Well we're getting an Asunder character as a companion aren't we?
Adrian? Please let it be Adrian.
Well we're getting an Asunder character as a companion aren't we?
I don't think it was ever really clear. Sources conflict, some saying an important NPC, others a companion.

NOT A CHANCE IN HELL, XILIZHRA.
Well we're getting an Asunder character as a companion aren't we?
I think that was a misinterpretation. The panel at PAX said there would be an Asunder character, but did not specifically say as a companion.
Well we're getting an Asunder character as a companion aren't we?
I don't think it was confirmed that we'd have an Asunder character as a companion, more that an Asunder character would be appearing. Or maybe I read it wrong when that was announced.

This may or may not also apply to me. ![]()
Also I was so, so mad when Nihilus died. As soon as he spoke he was my favourite, and then they tore him from me so quickly. ![]()

To be frank, I'd be fine with dropping Beardo and having Cullen in that position, but the only warrior I ever liked in particular was Alistair; I don't find their playstyle interesting (even with Alistair), nor do I find their characters to be interesting in general. They continue to bore me.
I do, however, feel that Cullen would be sort of redundant when we have Cassandra.
Adrian? Please let it be Adrian.

If I have to put up with Vivienne, you can damn well put up with Adrian.
