On the subject of old tumblr posts that we new people missed the first time around, and because I want to tell someone about this but literally no one outside the Cullen thread would know or care what I mean: the other day on one of the sites we were discussing I was pleased to run across some fanfic predating the "follower food list" by about a year that painted the Knight-Captain as a shortbread fan. #independentconclusion #irrefutablecheckmate #caseclosed
Oh I'm so happy you posted that, because the moment I saw shortbread on the list I thought of Cullen. When I read the history of shortbread (I stay up late to do important things like this!) the origin of shortbread stuck out to me. Shortbread "started life as ‘biscuit bread’; biscuits that were made from left-over bread dough that was sometimes sweetened and dried out in the oven to form a hard, dry rusk." Well, Cullen is made from the "dough" that remains after the Uldred and Kirkwall incidents, and maybe he's a hardened (but still sweet) version of what he was before the Broken Circle. Now I want to eat some shortbread.
Edit: Then again, the crumbly deliciousness of the more modern shortbread could relate to Cullen's life crumbling after Uldred and Kirkwall. Yum.
Edit Edit: Sorry, I'm sure everything I surmise has been discussed to death a hundred times!
