Is it wrong to hope against Cullen largely because I think the gender ratio would be too skewed if he was in it? Unless it was just him and, say, Adrian.

The problem is that the gender ratio seems to be too skewed regardless of Cullen. I guess there might be a companion that was to shown in any leak/concept, but so far the only candidates are males.
Well, there's scribe girl, but I don't honestly think she'll be in as a companion. She gave me the Traynor/Kelly vibe.
Though I honestly don't have a problem with you not wanting Cullen. It's consorelle reasonable to not wanting him. The problem is when people insult the character and the fans for wanting him, which you haven't done.

Yeah, I wonder about Cole too. Unless Cole really did turn into some sort of demon hybrid at the end of Asunder, in which case I guess that would toughen him up a bit in the field of combat.

I don't see how it's plausible that both (plus Cole) got cut. The War Room concept showon the Cullen and moustache guy are present in the game, and I don't think they were cut off it (though they both can be changed as NPCs).
I think that other than Varric, Cassandra and Solas, one other character in the WR concept is a companion. And the females in the concept seems unlikely to me (Leliana would have more or less the same stance of Cassandra, and I don't think we'll have both the Right and the Left hand of the divine in our party).

To be clear, there aren rumours of Cole. He had a full introduction on the survey, as Dorian, IB and Sera.
There were rumours of one character i the leak begin scrapped/changed, but I don't think both Cole and Dorian got cut. There are high chances we won't know until we play the game.
On an unrelated note, I'm quite happy there isn't a dlc companion.

Well, the magazine confirmed Sera as a companion... now we just need to wait for the devs to confirm that the magazine is correct and then we'll know for sure that we have at least one other female.

We already more or less knew that; that still leads to the problematic potential 6:3 gender ratio.

I know, but it'll be nice to have it set in stone so that we can add it to the list of confirmed companions. The only other way I can see the balance being tipped (if not via more female companions) is if we'll be working very closely with important NPCs, some of whom are female (like Morrigan and/or Leliana) for example.

Sorry, but why would both shouldn't be a companion. If, for example, we'll get a female rogue, Dorian could be in.

As for whom I'd prefer... well, we already have three warriors and I'd rather have a 3/3/3 class ratio. I might narrowly prefer Cole because we could have another female mage that way, but Dorian would be interesting too... unless by some bizarre happenstance the Iron Bull is a rogue, in which case we could have Cullen and Adrian or something.

I can't comment on Adrian until we know more about Solas. Their stances might be similar.

OR someone we've never seen. I still hold out hope that there's a lady out there who's a total secret. Just because we've seen all those dudes in the concept art still doesn't mean they're all companions.

So here's an idea... why don't we try to focus today on the things we're excited about with the new game, instead of the things we don't like/worry we won't like/ etc. Seems that no matter what's in the game, it's better than no game at all. So in prep for page 4000 (I mean, WOW, Page 4000!!) let's focus on some positivity today!

I am attracted to sassy and snarky characters to a ridiculous degree. I also find her beautiful in design and fascinating in perspective.

 

I also adored Anora, So, I like me some strong political women, apparently.

Uh....everything and everyone!!! So far just everything has looked amazing in the Frostbite engine, I'm going to get so distracted with the environments it's going to take me five years to finish this game  I'm especially excited to see returning characters, especially with the recent Alistair news. I feel like it will give a sense of familiarity in such a drastically changing setting.

I'm excited to use the character creator!  Oh so many hours will be poured into creating the perfect Inquisitor... and then Inquisitors of the other 3 races, yay.  Seriously, look at this dwarven cutie!

 

 

You can never experience something for the first time again, I can't wait for that feeling.  Also, just getting to know the companions, whoever they may be.
