Personally, I still think it's a scam. Anybody remember MEG? Remember how forum pressure instigated an earlier-than-planned character reveal? I'd bet real money that this is an attempt at getting BioWare to unclench their lips a little.

Admittedly the concept art did look convincing. Mainly I'm just investigating to see what I can dig up and maybe work out if it is fake.

I'm pretty sure they'll make him bisexual if he's a companion in DA3, that way everyone can have a chance with him lol.

Not trying to crush anyone's hope, but I highly doubt he will be bi. He IS a chantry guy after all. Like Sebastian and Alistair, I think he is one of those characters with a background too strong to be that open minded. Sure, he liked a mage even when he was a templar, but...I just can't imagine it. It doesn't fit his chantry/templar image. :?

There's nothing to say that it isn't legit concept art. That doesn't mean that the rest isn't utter horse hockey.

Maybe I'm just holding on to the hope that BioWare wouldn't saddle us with a chantry-affiliated protagonist. I've been looking forward to DA3, and it would be a crushing disappointment if it turned out to be morally unacceptable.

Oh, I know logically he'd be most likely straight, but don't forget in DA2 they made everyone bi (except Seb, but you can't really romance him properly.) I can see them making him bisexual to prevent any uproar.

Berelinde: I'm hoping the new Inquisition is just a title they'll use just to name themselves, rather than it being aligned with the Chantry. It does strike me as odd that they'd reuse a name that was previously affiliated with the Chantry/Templars etc.

Ooo this is interesting. A message regarding the concept drawing of the Knight wearing the Templar insignia that may or may not be Cullen:

"Actually if i remember well this particular picture was a bit wierd, it really felt like Cullen's face had been photoshopped on it. All the concept art was great and seems legit, even the Templars armor was great but the face kind of shocked me. Now i'm wondering if i'm kinda crazy or something... I'm really mad at myself for not saving the pictures. Now i'm gonna spend days wondering."

Oh, also Emzamination said that she didn't see any blonde guys in the concept drawings... But in Asunder it is said that Cole is blonde, so there should have been at least one in there... Unless they didn't bother showing Cole's concept appearance?

Didn't they say they wouldn't do that anymore or something along those lines?
(I could be wrong, but I could swear I read something about all companions bi thing)

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all about bi/gay characters, but I feel like occasionally we need a straight or gay character. Not bi, but just a lesbian or gay character. Like Cortez in ME3. Not interested in female at all. It makes them more interesting than "I love everyone" kind of character.

Leliana was super-chantry and super-bi!

But it doesn't matter what anyone's rationale is for a character seeming gay or straight - DG's said multiple times that they're sticking with the bi-or-subjectively-bi LI's for the rest of the franchise. If Cullen's romanceable, he'll be romanceable by both genders.

Yeah, I really, really didn't like that [Chantry affiliation] *at all*.

I am kinda picky about my video games, though. If I don't think I'll like it, I won't buy it. Thus, there aren't any ME tags under my avatar. I don't do sci-fi, so I don't do ME. I tried ME2 when they gave it away for free and it was unmitigated torture. I don't need to spend $60+ on something I won't like.

I'm still not convinced that the survey protag info was legit. BioWare has been very tight-lipped about info up to this point. If the survey really was from them, they could easily have asked opinions about various companions without saying one word about a protagonist. And there's that bit about the unprofessional wording.

That and they're already doing the voice recording. You can't cast VAs unless you know who the companions are. Therefore, why bother with a survey?

Too many failed logic checks.

Edit: Had to edit to account for other posts. It wasn't clear what I was replying to.

Yeah, we don't know how long that survey has been around for, if it was old then surely this would have all come out back in January or something.

Apparently there's concept drawings of the protagonist too that I'm curious about. But mostly I wanna find out if that Knight wearing the Templar insignia is Cullen or not. Surely someone other than Emzamination must have saved copies of the pictures?

IF we're something like an Inquisitor in the next game, there's no reason to think it would force us to be pro-Chantry. It sounded from the description that based on a big attack on the Chantry (the events of Dawn of the Seeker, maybe?) and the way the templar/mage war has been happening, a group of people got together and said "some kind of power player is manipulating this situation. There's much more than mages and templars at play here." and decided to investigate it.

Thus, the Inquisition.

And even if the Inquisition were affiliated with the Chantry at all, it would still be prudent for anyone who cared even a little bit about how the mage situation worked out to ally themselves temporarily and snoop around for an unconventional way of ending the war. Or for an anti-Chantry but highly skilled person to earn their freedom/save their friend/escape danger themselves. Kind of like how your Warden didn't have to be excited about becoming one in the first place. There are a lot of possibilities.

Only if they were real.

It was kind of hard to tell from the cruddy imageshak viewer, but the art looked... wrong. Lots of heads photoshopped onto bodies. Worse, the bodies looked 3D modeled but the faces looked like line drawings. They didn't look polished or professional.

Another red flag.

I've saved the copy she put up but it's so tiny to tell. The style of the art is very similar to DA2 but I'd need a bigger better copy to be able to tell properly.

I dunno, it just seems a lot of trouble for one person to go to just to troll.

People keep using that argument. My answer is still the same.

Do not want. Full stop.

It doesn't matter how much sugar you pour over a turd cupcake, it won't be appetizing.

Don't get me wrong! I've got nothing against Chantry companions (obviously), and nothing against specific templars (obviously). But I don't want to play one, and I don't want to have to buy into a lame reasons or explanations for railroading.

Sorry. This is my one absolutely inflexible "no compromise" issue. Anything else is fair game.

*shrug* Have fun possibly not playing the next game, then?  Image IPB

So hypothetically berelinde, if the leak is real and we do play as the inquisitor, will you still by the game? Or is that the deciding factor as to whether or not you buy it?

That's the deciding factor.

Fixed religious affiliation = no sale

If it's legit, then I'm in for a disappointment and I will not be buying the next game. Another loyal BioWare fan alienated. No one will care, I know, but it's still sad.

If it isn't legit, I'll be pre-ordering, like always.

Wow, I love the Nancy Drew work going on here! Just checking in briefly to see the thread rockin' and rollin'. Inlaws have wifi, so yay!

I'm trying so hard to take all this talk of blonde templar-ish concept art with a grain of salt... *don't get hopes up*don't get hopes up* Gah! NOT WORKING!!

Hope we get more official info soon.

In other news, anyone get word back on Thedosian toothbrushes? :D

I just don't get this. You wouldn't even just temporarily cooperate with religious people in order to save the world?

That's insanity. I just will never understand that.

Not yet, but if it's any help, I'm pretty sure I've heard David Gaider say the plural for "from Thedas" is Thedan. Not 100% positive, but somewhere in my brain it seems like I've logged that away from something he said once.

Honestly, the Circle probably sells some kind of magical lyrium and elfroot mouthwash or something.  Image IPB

Did I eat some bad mushrooms for lunch or is the BSN off it's nut today with the conspiracies??? LOL I feel like I died and woke up on the set of the X Files. Next we'll see concept art of Bigfoot getting probed by a grey.

LOL Gotta love a world with magic... medieval setting, with real hygiene and indoor plumbing!

Would love to know... Thedan sounds WAY better...

Temporarily cooperate with? Sure. Lots of reasons for that, ranging from extortion to temporary insanity. Be a card-carrying member of? Absolutely not.

I do not want people throughout Thedas identifying my character as someone affiliated with the chantry. Why is that hard to understand?
